It is also your responsibility to empty rubbish and recycling into the

Every year on 31 May, WHO and partners mark World No
Tobacco Day, this day highlights the health risks associated with
tobacco use and advocates for effective policies to reduce
tobacco consumption.
Tobacco kills nearly 6 million people each year, of which more
than 600 000 are non-smokers dying from breathing
second-hand smoke, this year the campaign is focussing on
raising tobacco related taxes.
Deakin University is now Smoke Free, this means that students
and staff cannot smoke on campus (residences is exempt at this point), we need to remind people that
they must move off campus to smoke to ensure that all people can enjoy a smoke free environment
when walking around the campus.
There are activities planned for next week on each campus in the lead up
to World No Tobacco Day and we are asking students to Take the Pledge
and make our campuses healthier.
If you are considering quitting but need to talk to someone the campus
nurses at Deakin Medical Centre are QUIT Educators and are more than
happy to provide free, non-judgemental appointments to work with you on
the quit journey.
As you enter the study period prior to exams, you need to stay
healthy and well. Please remember that the flu vaccination is
provided free for students living on residences. Flu is more than just a
bad cold and can cause severe illness leading to absence from work
and study.
Visit the Deakin medical centre on campus or make an
online appointment to see the campus nurse for vaccination, it is
easy and free.
There are a number of student services to assist you prepare for exams, remember it is never too late to
get organised, the Study Skills team provides face to face appointments as well as online resources to
assist you to get prepared. The Counselling service on campus also provides confidential and free
