Week 2 Term 3
Principal’s Message
Welcome back to Term 3! This term promises to be another busy one with many activities coming up.
Years K-2 have commenced the sport program ‘Be Skilled Be Fit’ on Tuesdays. The program teaches students the
skills necessary in fundamental movements and is a key component of our Sport program for infant’s classes. K-2
students are able to wear their sports uniform on this day.
Tomorrow our 8-12 year old boys and girls will be participating in our Athletics Carnival at Holroyd Sports
Ground, Merrylands. Parents and families are invited to come along and watch the day of races together. Over
the next two weeks, some field events will also be taking place at school. I’m looking forward to my first Athletics
Carnival at Ringrose! My thanks to both Mrs Elliott and Mrs Atkinson for their organisation of this event. As the
canteen will be operating at the Athletics Carnival, THERE WILL BE NO CANTEEN FACILITIES BACK AT SCHOOL
FOR THAT DAY!
Coming up in Week 3 the school is celebrating both Education Week and NAIDOC week with a number of
activities. On Tuesday 29 July, we are holding our school ‘Open Day’. The day will commence with parents invited
into classrooms to complete an Aboriginal Art Activity together with students. This will be followed by our
combined performance assembly where each grade will be presenting a combined item as well as items from
some of our performance groups. After the assembly, there will be coffee and tea facilities available and a cake
stall selling their goodies. If you are able to help out with the coffee/tea stall, can you please Mrs Brett our lovely
Canteen lady.
Later in that week, each of the grades will also be studying and celebrating the history, culture and achievements
of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through a number of activities as part of NAIDOC Week. My
thanks to Miss Casey, Mrs Stroud and Miss Crowe for their organisation of this week of activities!
On Tuesday 5 August at 6pm in the school library, we will be holding our 2015 Kindergarten Orientation Evening
for parents of our Kindy enrolments for next year. If you know of families who may like to enrol their children
here in 2015, please also invite them along. A special invitation note will be sent to all known families. Ringrose is
a great place to be!!
I would also like to pass on my congratulations to all of our PSSA Winter Sport Teams who have been competing
in newcombe ball, soccer and netball this term. Their sportsmanship and conduct at all games has been
exemplary and I am very proud of them!
One of our Year 6 students, Paden has been very successful over the last few weeks with a number of Golf
Tournaments he has been competing in. At the recent Regional Carnival, Paden was placed second! Amazing! He
now travels to Port Macquarie later in the term to compete in the State Tournament. Well done Paden. We’re
very proud of your achievements!
Many of our students have also competed recently in the NSW ICAS University testing competition for
Computers. We have had a number of outstanding results and my congratulations to each of our students who
Newsletter
participated in this competition. Included in this newsletter are the names of students who received a credit or
distinction.
Starting this week, our wonderful school P&C (Parents and Citizens) Association have organised for the
commencement of the Silver Coin Ride Drive. The idea is that each class will have a jar that will collect all silver
coin donations (5c, 10c, 20c) brought in. The intent is to raise enough funds so that we are able to organise
another ride for our upcoming school fete in October. Students of the class who raise the most money will
receive a lucky dip on the day of the fete. A note detailing further information about this drive was sent home
already.
Thank you also for your support of our recent P&C Association Chocolate Drive. Any outstanding monies need to
be returned to school ASAP. Next week, I will announce to students who the winning classes are K-2 and Yrs 3-6
for bring back all collected chocolate money. These classes will receive an ice block for winning!
Coming up in Week 5 on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 August is our school photograph days. I would like to
request that all students are dressed correctly in their full Winter Uniform for their class and combined school
photos (Inclusive of black shoes). Our Uniform shop is open on Thursday mornings and has spare winter uniforms
ready for purchase where required.
I have also had quite a few concerns expressed to me about dogs in the school grounds. As a matter of safety for
all students and families, can I please remind you that there should be no dogs brought into the school grounds.
Finally, with the Winter months rolling in this term, the weather has been quite cool in the morning and we’ve
had many students arriving late to school with no justifiable reason. A reminder that all students should be at
school ready to start the day by 8:55am. Where students are late, they are to report to the office first to receive
a late pass.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Loughhead

join us on the day in celebrating the quality and diversity of education across NSW. At

raised from the cake stall will go towards school resources. If there are any parents willing to
