W świecie nauki istnieje ciągle otwarte pytanie: czy poza naszym światem, w wielkim kosmosie, istnieje jeszcze inny świat istot rozumnych? Człowiek próbuje się wsłuchać we wszechświat łowiąc dźwięki, fale, znaki, które pochodziłyby od istoty rozumnej. Już starożytni Egipcjanie, a szczegól-nie Babilończycy, byli wpatrzeni i wsłuchani w kosmos. Podobnie jest z uczonymi i w naszym pokoleniu. Zarówno wysiłki naukowców, jak i prymitywne próby kontak-tu z duchami, to nie tylko zaspokojenie ciekawości, ale to dowód wysiłku człowieka, zmierzającego do przekroczenia granic naszego świata, ciasne-go z powodu nałożonej nań obręczy śmierci. Człowiek wierzący ma moralną pewność, że ist-nieje inny świat i wcale nie trzeba wywoływać z niego duchów. W tym świecie jest normalny człowiek z kości, ciała, krwi, z którym można nawiązać kontakt. To ta-jemnica Chrystusa, który opuścił ziemię i czeka na nas w swoim świecie. Pierwsi chrześcijanie bez przerwy wzywali Chrys-tusa. „Przyjdź Panie Jezu”. To była ich pieść, którą śpiewali od rana do wieczora. Oni byli nastawieni na spotkanie ze Zmartwychwstałym
i to nastawienie ukierunkowywało całe ich życie. Człowiek, który liczy się ze spotkaniem z przedstawicielem in-nego świata, zachowuje się na ziemi inaczej niż ci, którym zostaje tylko doczesność. Promie-niuje pokojem, radością i szczęściem. Żyje bowiem już nie tylko prawami ziemi, ale świata, który objawił Jezus. Wielu chrześcijan uważa, że re-ligia nasza jest trudna, że wymagania dotyczące moralności nie są do zre-alizowania, że zachow-anie przykazań przekracza możliwości człowieka. Otóż, zwróćmy uwagę na to, że największym świętem chrześcijan nie jest dzień ogłoszenia dziesięciu przykazań ani przykazania wza-jemnej miłości, lecz święto Zmartwych-wstania Chrystusa, czyli możliwość nawiązania z Nim kontaktu, mimo że przebywa w innym świecie. Najpierw trzeba się spotkać z Chrystusem Zmartwychwstałym i dop-iero we współpracy z Nim potrafimy zrealizować trudne wymagania moralne. Ewange-lia jest drogą ścisłej współpracy z Chrystusem Zmartwychwstałym. Nie próbujmy własnymi siłami realizować nakazów Dekalogu, nie mówiąc już o wymaganiach

Składam serdec-zne podziękowania wszystkim, którzy pr-zyczynili się w jakikol-wiek sposób do duch-owego przeżycia czasu Wielkiego Postu, a w szczególności dziękuję: Diakonowi Krzyszto-fowi, Panu Organiście – Łukaszowi, Chórowi dzieci, Grupie mod-litewnej „Domowego Kościoła”, Ministrantom dorosłym, całej liturgic-znej służbie ołtarza, lek-torom i kantorom. Słowa wdzięczności pragnę również skierować do tych z pośród Was którzyście uczestniczyli w Nabożeństwach Drogi Krzyżowej, Gorzkich Żali, w naszych Parafi-alnych rekolekcjach, jak również w ceremoniach Triduum Paschalnego: Wielkiego Czwartku, Wielkiego Piątku i Wiel-kiej Soboty. Niech ten czas spędzony wspólnie na modlitwie i adoracji Chrystusa cierpiącego zaowocuje w Was codzienną miłością do Boga i do siebie wzajem-nie. Z serca Wam wszyst-kim dziękuję za ten przykład żywej wiary!

Niech Chrystus Pan, Zwycięzca grzechu i śmierci darzy Was swoją miłością, a Wy odpowiadajcie na tę Miłość dobrocią serca, radością życia, codzien-nym przebaczeniem i modlitwą serca. „To znów Wszechmogący Panie, czcimy Twoje Zmart-wychwstanie”. Szczęść Wam Boże!

Fr Bogdan’s Silver Jubilee
Fr Bogdan celebrates 25 years as priest this May and we will cele-brate his years of priestly ministry on 7th May at 11am Mass, an occasion to which all parishioners are invited.
We are grateful for Fr Bogdan’s work and com-mittment in St John’s community and, as a to-ken of our appreciation, there will be a special collection on the week-end of 29-30th April.
This will be a celebra-tion for the whole parish.

Youth GroupThe parish Youth
Group held its final meeting at the end of last term. This parish project, which began six years ago, was led initially by Frankie McGuire and for the past two years by Justyna Jablonska.
As Justyna approaches the end of her degree studies there is no obvi-ous successor and so the Pastoral Parish Council has taken the decision to continue its misison with young people, working through the schools.
Thanks to Frankie and Justyna for their faithful and inspirational support for our young people and to the team of youth workers who have sup-ported them.
Thanks also to all pa-rishioners who have shown their backing for this project which has worked with young Catholics regularly on Wednesday evenings in the parish, at social and fund rasing events in the parish and by arranging excursions to religious sites across Scotland and on Pilgrimage to Whithorn, Iona, Rome, Krakow and Compos-tella.
