* Parents may drop their child/children off inside the main entrance, and pick up their child/children in the cafeteria at the end of the day. Staff will be available in the cafeteria at the end of the day to assist with this process. * Vehicles must be parked in the spaces marked for visitor parking. If visitor parking spaces are full, please park within another available lined space in the parking lot.
Before and After School
• All school doors at both sites will be locked throughout the school day. • If you wish to enter the school, please ring the doorbell at the entrance and you will be buzzed in by office personnel. • Guests and visitors MUST report to the office before entering further into the building. Office personnel will ask you to sign in and will give you a visitor’s badge to wear. • All staff members (including substitutes) are to be consistent about stopping anyone who does not have identification to ensure our students’ safety. The visi-tor’s pass is a way to show that you have signed in and that you are a safe person to be in our hallways.• When you have completed your visit, please return the badge to the office, sign out, and leave through the front doors.

to find her best friend, you may just find yourself believing in malevolent mirrors, yetis, talking reindeer, and snow chickens! Blizzards can come at any moment, so strap on some snowshoes and get ready to discover what it takes to overcome chill-ing obstacles, keep resilience alive, and melt down the Snow Queen’s icy walls.
Auditions will take place at River Ridge on Monday, November 4 at 3:30 in the Multipurpose Room. All students in grades 5K through 12 are encouraged to audi-tion for this year’s MCT production of the SNOW QUEEN!

Attention 7th and 8th Grade Parents
A More Mindful River Ridge by Jackie Kalinowski
Everyone has the ability to bring their undivided attention to what they are doing in the present moment – this is a natural ability. Being mindful is learning how to extend and maintain those moments of focus for increasing amounts of time. The natural ability to focus is converted to a skill through gentle guidance and practice.
Students and teachers can use these skills at any time during the school day when extra attention or a calmer, kinder environment is beneficial. Students can also use these important skills in their lives away from school whenever they feel frustrated, angry or stressed, or when they simply want to accomplish a task or make progress towards a goal.
Our techniques train the brain self-regulation and impulse control to help with emotional regulation and focused attention. After repeated practice neural connections develop which help students access their internal power, and develop constructive habits of thinking and acting.
What does it mean to be mindful?
Come visit the River Ridge Athletic Boosters at the concession stand Friday September 20, dur-ing the homecoming football game. We will be serving Tranels pizza and Culver’s walking tacos.
The Athletic Boosters helps to fund improvements and additions to our athletic program. Including scholar-ships, sports schedules, banners, state meals, senior ath-letic banners and more.

Counseling Services Offered at River RidgeWKM Counseling will be offering mental health services to the River Ridge Community during the 2019-20 school year. A licensed therapist will come to River Ridge one day a week to meet with clients. If you feel your son or daughter would benefit from these services, please contact Caron Townsend.
Homecoming Concession StandThe River Ridge National Honor Society will be hosting a Homecoming Concession Stand on Thursday, September 19 after the homecom-ing parade and during the powder puff football game. Dinner type items will be available, so please come & enjoy.
National Honor Society Sponsoring Blood Drive
The River Ridge National Honor Society and the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will be sponsoring their annual Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 11:30 AM -2:30 PM in the River Ridge High School multi-purpose room. Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the exclusive provider of blood products and services to 80 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin including Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.

River Ridge Homecoming 2019by Mickey QuickHomecoming activities will take place at River Ridge High School the week of September 16 thru 20. The theme for homecoming is “Disney” and the football game will be against Potosi/Cassville Friday night at 7:00 PM.
Wednesday evening will start with a color run at the River Ridge High School that will go from 6:00 – 7:00 PM for families and individu-als to enjoy. We will also have food available at this time for those who wish to come on out and have a sandwich and soup. At 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening, the skit, lip sync and coronation program will take place in the high school gym. Student Council will sponsor a 50-50 raffle.
The parade will be held Thurs-day evening starting at 6:00 PM in Bloomington. The route will begin at the Village Park and head up Congress Street. It will end at the corner of Congress Street and Mill Street. Any group or organization that would like to be in the parade should be there by 5:30 PM. Contact Mickey Quick
or Lisa Clark for more informa-tion. Following the parade will be the powderpuff football match between the freshman and sopho-mores followed up by the junior and senior game on the football field in Bloomington. Fireworks will follow the powderpuff games at approximately 8:00 PM. Thank you to RRAP (River Ridge Active Parents) for funding the fireworks display. The entire community is welcome to come on out and enjoy the festivities – weather permitting. The River Ridge National Honor Society will have food available during the evening.
During the homecoming game halftime, the Timberwolves’ Spirit Award plaque will be presented to the class that has accumulated the most points from the banner, lip sync, skit, float building, and Purple Day competitions. The members of the homecoming court will be recog-nized at halftime and the River Ridge dance team and band will perform.
The Booster Club will be selling concessions at the game Friday night. The food is always excellent!
Homecoming week will end with an activity sponsored by the senior class.

HEALTHY CHANGES FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR ***PLEASE READ***
There will be some healthy changes happening in our school next year. River Ridge received a grant that has allowed us to make improvements towards a healthier school and to our wellness policies.
This next school year in lieu of birthday treats being sent to school to celebrate your child’s birthday, we will be using a birthday cart to celebrate. Your child will be able to pick one small gift for themselves off the cart and then choose a fun activity to do with the entire class during the normal celebration time. Our birth-day cart is being implemented to promote health, physical activity, and equality amongst all students.
Please try and refrain from sending in treats for their birthdays. If you are feeling as though you still want to contribute in some way, please con-sider making a donation to our birthday cart or free breakfast fund.
If you are still not ready to give up treats just yet, please consider all students with allergies and sensitivities and try to send a healthier treat option such as items below:

APPROVED MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING OF THE RIVER RIDGE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE RIVER RIDGE SCHOOL DISTRICT, GRANT COUNTY, WISCONSIN: JULY 10, 2019 AT 5:30 PM
I. Call to order – Board President Kenny Nies called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM
II. Roll call – Present; Kenny Nies, Jason Cathman, Karla Irish, Kirk Hamann, Adam Guthrie, Aaron Stagman, Cory Moravits.
III. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
IV. Statement of Notice – Board President Kenny Nies ap-proved the posting and called the meeting official.
V. There were no public appearances.
VI. Approval of Minutes
A) May 22, 2019 Special Board Meeting Minutes
B) June 12, 2019 Regular Board Meeting Minutes
C) Jason Cathman made a motion to approve the min-utes. Adam Guthrie seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 voice vote.
VII. Reports
A) Finance – Tracy Stagmani. Financial statements, receipts, and expenditures – Business Manager Tracy Stagman presented the financial statements, receipts, and expenditures for June 2019. Cory Moravits made a motion to ap-prove the financial statement pending the audit of 2018/19 for revenues of $2,987,201.19 and expen-ditures of $1,360,096.85. Aaron Stagman seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 roll call vote.ii. Approve the first draft of the 2019- 20 Budget – Jason Cathman made a motion to approve the first draft of the budget. Cory Moravits seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 roll call vote.iii. Risk Insurance Renewal – Karla Irish made a motion to increase the property deductible from $5000 to $10,000 and to add a $100,000 Fraudulent Impersonation policy. Jason Cathman seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 roll call vote.
B) Buildings and Grounds Report – Kenny Nies, Chairi. Exterior Site Project- Cory Moravits Made a
motion to add 3 feet of concrete in the baseball and softball dugouts and to add an overhead door in the storage shed without an operator. Karla Irish second-ed the motion and it passed on a 7-0 roll call vote.
VIII. New Business
A) Approve the 2019-20 Academic Standards – Karla Irish made a motion to approve the standards. Aaron Stagman seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 voice vote.
B) Student Fees and Hot Lunch Meal Prices – Jason Cathman made a motion to set the breakfast price at $1.80 for all students. Cory Moravits seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 roll call vote.
C) Hiring/Resignationsi. High School Science – Jessica Hosey – Aaron Stagman made a motion to approve the recommen-dation. Adam Guthrie seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 voice vote.ii. Varsity Boys Basketball Coach – Tom Neises – Adam Guthrie made a motion to approve the rec-ommendation. Cory Moravits seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 voice vote.
IX. Convene into Closed Session Pursuant to Wisconsin Statute section 19.85(1)(e), which permits convening in closed session whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session, for the purpose of opening propos-als on the purchase of the Bloomington School Property and discussing those proposals.
A) Bloomington Property Sale Proposal Evaluation – Aaron Stagman made a motion to convene in closed session. Cory Moravits seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 roll call vote. The meeting was in closed session at 6:47 PM
X. Reconvene into Open Session – Karla Irish made a motion to reconvene into open session. Jason Cathman seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 voice vote. The meeting was back in open session at 7:16 PM
