Meeting Cafe Elixir 6th January 2014 President Norm wished everyone a Happy New Year and welcomed Jan Duffy the District A40 Chair of the Inner Wheel and wished Laurie a speedy recovery from his stroke, Keith Mainwaring from The Wellington Rotary Club in Shropshire, 2 exchange students Anson and Akin, Kaye Douglas and all club members. Keith Mainwaring from the Rotary Club of Wellington addressed the members and under-stands there was a connection with Shropshire with one of our previous members. Shropshire Wellington is 30 miles North of Birmingham and it is an agricultural area in the middle of a new town called Talford. Keith belongs to a club with 63 members and they meet on a Friday at 1.00pm at a place called The Buckatree Hall Hotel which is just underneath what used to be know as a Roman Fort called the Wrekin which is just briefly is also named as a parliamentary constituency and the Wrekin connection became one of the MP's with very few members in Victorian Member of Parliament namely Bill Yates. President Peter Martin sends his greetings to The Rotary Club of Wanneroo and wishes us all the very best and thanks us for allowing him to join us tonight.

President Norm put forward Bill Kell as being President Elect for next year and Bill was nominated by Ian Bradshaw and seconded by Laurie Duffy so this was carried and Secretary Graeme was given the go ahead to inform the District Governor Elect. Secretary: Graeme Smith was asked to mention any items prior to our board meeting. Grae-me read out a letter from Elderbloom asking us to purchase one of the Walking Frames to supply to Jacaranda Lodge not a second one for Belgrade Village as there would not be the supervision required. The raffle could be discussed at a later date. They greatly appreciate the involvement and generosity of the Rotary Club of Wanneroo and look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship. Graeme also received a letter of thanks addressed to Owen Douglas from the Wanneroo Col-lege for attending and presenting the Rotary Technology Award at the Year 12 Presentation Evening. Clive’ Survey Form was sent out for members to specify what roles they would like to do for the coming year. Director of Youth Service Owen Douglas: The Summer Science Forum starts this week and the students have a day off on the Sunday to put their feet up and wash their clothes for the coming week that is pretty intensive. In a couple of weeks time we have the RYLA Camp which is for the week and we have sponsored our participant from this club. Owen goes along

to that being he has a bus drivers licence but also to be the camp Dad to ensure all of the compasses and radios are functioning for the orienteering and also to make sure the meals are ready as food is ultra important for these young lads. Owen introduced Anson and Akin to talk on their trip to Sydney. Anson: Anson said good evening to President Norm and all attendees and wished everyone a Happy New Year. Last week he had a wonderful New Year and went to Sydney with Akin and President Norm to see the fireworks from the Opera House. They went to the opera house and waited for 14 hours a long time with lots of people and very crowded and then it was very hot in the morning and then cold at night so he was nearly sick but finally the Fire-works took place and he said it was beautiful and this memory he will have forever. Akin: Akin also was in Sydney and it was amazing, seeing amazing buildings and is only second to Istanbul and today he has gone to an English Grammar School thanks to Host Father Norm and mentioned that the Wanneroo Rotary Club will assist next year another student. Akin aslo enjoyed the fireworks after waiting the 14 hours and also said it was amazing. Owen mentioned that the communication skills from both students are improving all the time. Anson also enjoyed Xmas lunch with Owens 27 member family. Director of International: Debbie Singh Debbie is off to Thailand again on Thursday and will visit the house that has been renovated with some of the money we have donated so will take plenty of photos etc She is also taken up a wheelchair for Wheelchairs for kids, they are also with the help of some friends going to put in a vegie garden in the cleared areas which will be very good. The very first ever Blonde GUY joke ... and well worth the wait!

An Irishman, a Mexican and a blonde guy were doing construction work on scaffolding on the 20 floor of a building. They were eating lunch and the Irishman said, “Corned beef and cabbage! If I get corned beef and cabbage one more time for lunch I’m going to jump off this building.”

The Mexican opened his lunch box and exclaimed, “Burritos again! If I get burritos one more time I’m going to jump off, too.”

The blond opened his lunch and said, “Bologna again. If I get a bologna sandwich one more time, I’m jumping too.”

The next day the Irishman opened his lunch box, saw corned beef and cabbage and jumped to his death.

The Mexican opened his lunch, saw a burrito and jumped too. The blonde guy opened his lunch, saw the bologna and jumped to his death as well.

At the funeral the Irishman’s wife was weeping. She said, “If I’d known how really tired he was of corned beef and cabbage, I never would have given it to him again!”

The Mexican’s wife also wept and said, “I could have given him tacos or enchiladas! I didn’t realize he hated burritos so much.”

Everyone turned and stared at the blonde’s wife. are you ready for it ‘s worth the wait

Here it comes

“Hey, don’t look at me,” she said, “He makes his own lunch.”

After having their 11th child, a Scouse couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed. So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his wife didn’t want to have any more children. The doctor told him there was a procedure called a vasectomy that would fix the problem but it was expensive. A less costly alternative was to go home, get a firework, light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to his ear and count to 10.

The Scouser said to the doctor, “I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but I don’t see how putting a firework in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me.” “Trust me, it will do the job”, said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a banger and put it in a beercan. He held the can up to his ear and began to count: “1, 2, 3, 4, 5,”

At which point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs so he could continue counting on his other hand. This procedure also works in Birmingham, Newcastle and anywhere in Wales.

Two tourists are driving through Wales. As they approach ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch’

they start arguing about the pronunciation of the town’s name. They argue back and forth until they stop for lunch.

As they stand at the counter, one tourist asks the blonde employee, “Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are.... very slowly?”

The blonde girl leans over the counter and says,

Burrrrrrrrrr, gerrrrrrrrrr, Kiiiiing.”

A man is lying in bed in hospital with an oxygen mask over his mouth. A young auxiliary nurse appears to sponge his face and hands. Nurse,”he mumbles from behind the mask, “Are my testicles black?”

Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, “I don’t know, I’m only here to wash your face and hands.’ He struggles again to ask, “Nurse, Are my testicles black?”

Again the nurse replies, “I can’t tell. I’m only here to wash your face and hands.”

The ward sister was passing and saw the man getting a little distraught so marched over to inquire what was wrong

“Sister,” he mumbled, “Are my testicles black?”

Being a nurse of longstanding, the sister was undaunted. She whipped back the bedclothes, pulled down his pyjama trousers, moved his penis out of the way, had a right good look, pulled up the pyjamas, replaced the bedclothes and announced, “Nothing wrong with them!!

At this the man pulled off his oxygen mask and asked again, “Are my test results back???”
