Family Learning Pirate Day for Reception parents on Tuesday 14 th July .Gateshead Family Learning Team welcomes all Reception families to a free fun filled hour of Arts and Crafts. The theme will be Pirates.

Please complete the attached slip if you would like to attend the Pirate Workshop on Tuesday 14th July from 2.10pm-3.10pm.

A message from the GovernorsCarolyn Beckett, who was worked at our school for an amazing 29 years, will be retiring at the end of term. We thank her for her dedication and hard work in the school office. She will be a missed by everyone and we wish her all the best for the future. Lucy King will take over this role from September.

The PTA are very busy organising the ‘Summer Fayre’ which will take place on the 2nd July from 3.30pm. We hope you can attend this fantastic event. Please contact Paula Archer, or a member of the PTA, if you would like to volunteer as a helper.

Over the past term, the school has visited Gibside Estate numerous times and the children have benefited greatly from these experiences. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the National Trust staff for their continued support.

As always, our parents have donated incredibly generously to fundraising events in school. Recently, we raised £350 for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal. We can’t thank you enough!

You may have noticed that work has started in the KS2 yard in developing the raised-bed area. We are planning on transforming this into a new exciting seated area. We ask for your patience while work takes place.

Finally, school breaks up for the summer on Thursday 16th July. We hope you all have a fun, safe summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you all in September.

The PTA have now started to plan 2015’s Summer Fayre, which was a great success last year. The Summer Fayre gives families an opportunity to bring a picnic, play games, win prizes and generally have fun! Raffle prizes and volunteers are desperately needed for this event, so please do get in touch if you can help in any way.

Important notice: picking up from after school clubsDue to Safeguarding Children Regulations parents are now unable to enter the school building to wait for or pick up children from after school clubs. This is to ensure that there is no chance of an unknown adult entering the school at any time.

After clubs have finished, coaches will bring children to outside of main reception / the gate of MUGA (for football and netball) or into the Key Stage 1 yard outside the learning zone (for all other clubs) where you will be able to sign out your child. Please be assured that if you have children to collect in both places, the coach or PTA representative will wait with your child until you arrive.

Thank you for helping the school comply with the regulations.

What is the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)?

We are a charitable organisation (charity no. 1050183) run wholly by volunteers, comprising parents and grandparents of the pupils at RGPS.  Through partnership with the School we aim to enhance our children’s school experience by organising After School Clubs and Events and through funding Special projects.
