The following slides show several field erection drawings and one fabrication assembly drawing for part of the added canopy. These drawings represent approximately 20% of this ongoing project. All drawings were developed in a 3D environment using Tekla Structures; the 3D environment allows easier coordination with existing field conditions and other trades, this is commonly referred to as BIM (Building Information Modeling).As of March 2015, the project is approximately 80% complete with more than 55% profit

Lessons Learned As they relate to project management in the steel detailing industry

• Communication with customers is the key to resolving schedule changes, maintaining a strong relationship, and coordinating project modifications.

• Successful projects rely heavily on efficient document control.• Successful project managers recognize and utilize team member

strengths and find training opportunities in team member weaknesses.

• Carefully matching skill and challenge among team members keeps them confident, passionate, and working in ‘the zone’
