Sign Ballot Initiative 120
November 16th and 17th
The Bishops of Colorado support Initiative 120 to end late term Abortion after 22 weeks. Colorado is one
of only a few states that allows abortions for any reason up until birth with no restrictions. It’s time for Colorado to say no to late-term abortions in our state. With enough
signatures we will be able to have it on the ballot for 2020.
Thank you for your commitment to building a culture of life that cherishes every person.

NET Retreat for 6th - 12th Graders
Monday, January 20th at St. Peter 9AM - 4:30PM (this is mlk day, no school)
Fr. Tomasz’s Weekly Reflection Care for the eternal life plays a secondary role in our lives today, and sometimes it can even be considered something out of date, old-fashioned, and therefore embarrassing. One can conclude that there are Christians who are sure of God's existence, but do not consider it necessary to care in any particular way for their eternal life. Many people also try to apply an earthly measure to assess supernatural reality. And this reality turns out to be completely different from our imaginations.
The same was true of the Sadducees from today's Gospel. The example of seven husbands of one wife was to be proof against the resurrection and eternal life which the Sadducees did not believe in. Jesus, however, gives the answer to their troubled doubts: those who are deemed worthy of participation in the future world, neither marry nor are given in marriage.
When thinking about the last things, death, judgment, heaven, hell, purgatory or referring to watching God face to face, it's hard not to resort to the imagination. However, eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, what God has prepared for those who love him. Therefore, our search for the eternal life must be founded in something else, has to be an expression of the courage of faith, which seriously treats the encouragement to discover God as the fullness of happiness. This is in accordance with the desire that God has written in the human heart. This is illustrated by the story of the persecution of the Maccabees, in today’s first reading. The martyrdom of the brothers in defense of faith and faithfulness to God and His commandments becomes a picture of the heroism of our ancestors. The determination and courage of tormented brothers and their certainty that they are in the hands of the Creator, gives them the utmost strength to endure the greatest torment. When the end of their life is approaching, they entrust themselves to God by being martyred and returning to the heavenly homeland. They put their hope in God, being aware that the King of the world will raise [them] up to live again forever.
If we want to get closer to understanding what heaven is and will be for us, we must realize the basic truth that belong to our heritage of faith: the need for love. We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. Whoever does not love remains in death. (1 J 3:14) It is love that allows us to do good and thus testify to belonging to Christ, who himself is the source of endless life. And love, because of its Divine na-ture, is eternal, reaches beyond the temporal world. Heaven is an eternal community of love, communion with God, watching God face to face.
From a Christian point of view, to be zealous for eternal life means to care for our relationship with God and faith in Him in the life we have right now at our hands. Let us make ourselves aware of the truth about life that does not end but completes through our meeting at the Father's house. The truth about the glory that is revealed to us through the death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
