“Open the Door of Faith" Catechetical Sunday September 15,2013 This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 15, 2013, and will focus on the theme "Open the Door of Faith." Those whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commis-sioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. For more information please visit: www.usccb.org

From the Day Room:

Thanks to you, 227 children have received needed backpacks and school sup‐plies! The children send you their smiles of gratitude, thanking all of you for helping them be prepared for the school year. They are in pursuit of learning all that is True, Beautiful, Noble and Good. We have asked all the children who were recipients of your kindness to pray for you and to pray for the children of Syria. No one is so poor that they can not pray for the good of others. The children of The Day Room are praying for the children of Syria. Perhaps there is a child here, who because of your kindness, will be an in‐strument for Christ’s peace in the future.

We remember our dear Jewish brothers and sisters who serve in the Day Room and in our educa‐tional support programs. We wish them deep and great blessings in their observance of the holy days. May God draw us ever closer in friendship and in the pursuit of Truth and Beauty.

“Like the deer that yearns for running streams, so my soul is yearning for you, my God; my soul is thirs ng for God, the living God.”

Saint Agnes Catholic School After School Clubs

We are ready to begin the new school year and we are offering several clubs and activities for the students. Along with Scouts and CYO activities, the students have many opportunities to grow and learn outside of the classroom. The Drama Club – This year The Stag Players will work with the West Chester Per-forming Arts Studio for our weekly drama lessons.

The Saint Agnes Scoop, our award winning school newspaper, keeps us up to date on all of the happenings in the school and community. Under the leadership of Villanova University professor and SAS parent Noel Dolan, the newspaper crew learns the many aspects of writing and editing. The Saint Agnes Literary Club provides an extended venue for students to express themselves in writing and to select good writing from the school. The Literary Magazine is published once a year. The Cooking Club is great fun! Sometimes the members cook, other times they visit restaurants or the grocery stores. This club usually meets for 8 – 10 weeks during the school year. Shining Knights Chess Club – open to students of any grade and any skill level. Last year the Chess Club ended the year with a match against St. Maximilian Kolbe School. Interestingly, many of our chess players are the younger students. ______________________________________________________________________________________________
