Mission Trip to Greene County

With the Guadalupan Missionary Sisters of the Holy Spirit

Saturday, June 10 and

Monday through Friday, June 12 16

Greene County: located in West Central Alabama, it is one of the poorest and the least

populated counties in the State with over 9,000 individuals at 34% below the poverty level.

History: beginning under the direction of Father Patrick Cullen, Saint Aloysius Parish’s Pastor

from 2006-2015, parishioners joined hands with the Consolata Sisters who had served the

people of Greene County since 1972. At the time, the mission was opened by the Diocese of

Birmingham and designated as the poorest county in the U.S. In 2015, the Consolata Sisters

moved out of Alabama and the Guadalupan Sisters expanded their ministry into Greene County.

This Year’s Service: each building site has a leader who gives out the tasks:

Some paint (inside and out) clean, move furniture, do electrical work,

carpentry, plumbing, and whatever else is needed.

Some volunteer to prepare meals or serve lunch daily in Eutaw.

Volunteers can sign up for one day, two days, or all days.

Some prefer to ride with a group or you can drive on your own.

A few workers stay overnight in Tuscaloosa when working more than one day.

Meet in the mornings at Warrior Academy School in Eutaw at 420 Old Prattville Road.

Water is provided each day and every afternoon cold popsicles arrive!

On Wednesday, Mass is celebrated at 8:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church in Eutaw.

Parishioners from Saint Aloysius, Saint Mark, Saint Paul, Our Lady of the Valley, Saint Thomas

the Apostle, Holy Rosary, and Saint Stephen the Martyr will participate again this year.

If you’re unable to participate, please consider giving a donation!!

Drop off any amount at the Church Office, collection plate, or by mail.

Registration Forms Are On the Table in the Narthex
