When he died, he died once to break the power of sin.

But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.

Romans 6:10

Dear Sinners, Sons/Daughters & Saints of the one True God!

In a few short weeks we will once again complete our journey

to the cross and empty tomb. We will have celebrated

Passover as Jesus did. We will nail the sins we have been

convicted of during this journey to the cross of Christ and

leave in darkness remembering the light of the world had been

snuffed out. We will meet at the tomb where the body will be

gone and shout “He is Risen! He has Risen Indeed!”

One of my favorite hymns to sing on Easter is “He Lives.” It is

a reminder that not only is Jesus resurrected, but because He,

Jesus, lives in my heart, I too am a resurrected person here and now. I will die some day in this body, but that

is just a passage into the full presence of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

So, I sing with gusto “He Lives!” and share out loud with others “He Lives” I share out loud with Easter Loud

so everyone can hear me. I sing out Easter loud “Up from the Grave He Arose!” I sing out Easter Loud “Christ

the Lord is Risen Today!” I sing, not because I like the songs so much, but because the message radiates

from deep within me out to the world around me.

But I can do this because I did the journey. I walked with Jesus these 40 days and nights. I prayed, fasted,

studied, worshipped, sought the Lord out, and let the Holy Spirit convict me of where I have strayed and need

to return to Him. Because of the journey “He Lives” is my reality and my deepest need. Jesus broke the

power of sin in my life and calls me to live for the glory of God from now on just as He does.

He offers you this freedom and life too. Will you finish your journey well? If you do, trust me “He Lives, He

Lives Christ Jesus lives today” will be words you will sing out EASTER LOUD TOO!

Finishing the journey with you,

Pastor Shirley

Did you know…?

Because of your hospitality we will be hosting two community concerts this month Because you welcome everyone with God’s love we have 4 new members of the Saint

James family Because of your stewardship we have paid 48.3% of our 2019 apportionments for

this year, that means we are almost half way in the first quarter of the year Because of your faithfulness, we are making a difference in the community that

surrounds us. God is moving in wonderful ways. We just wanted to make sure you knew!

Kingdom Kids

We welcome all children and grandchildren to our “Kingdom Kids” class at 10:00 a.m. during the worship service. Ice Cream is the theme of our current curriculum. And you never know what our snack might be with a theme like that!

We also have an Adult Class that meets before Worship please join them at 8:45 in the west wing.

Trustees Wish List

We would like to finish up the work we started in the Fellowship Hall

to make increased use of the space for other groups as well as more

activities for the church.

Below is a wish list of items needed to finish the area to make it more

presentable. Monetary donations are always welcome also.

Plumbing repairs in the kitchen sinks to

make dishwashing/cleaning up easier after

dinners.

Ceiling tiles to replace those that have

been damaged or stained.

Paint and roller covers (we have enough

brushes) for painting the class rooms so

they may be used for meetings

A microwave has been donated. Thank you to those who

have already contributed to these projects.

Kneedle Knots The Kneedle Knots will be taking

a hiatus for a few months. If there

is an increase in interest we will

resume our meetings on

Mondays 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. We still

need winter hats for the Remnant

Café next winter so please

continue to knit or crochet those

if you would like to help out.

The Haven Gala Event

A big thank you to all those

who helped in so many ways

with the event. Thank you to

those who donated baskets,

those who worked tirelessly

preparing for the event, those

who attended the dinner and

those who purchased baskets.

The event was a success again

this year and we appreciate

the Saint James family’s and

The Friends of the Haven’s

efforts.

Yoga Classes

We have engaged a yoga instructor, Marjorie

Crawford, there is a $5 fee for each session.

The classes are held in the Fellowship Hall

building. Everyone who will be taking the

yoga classes will need to purchase and bring

a yoga mat (available at Target or Walmart).

Yoga Class Schedule

Tuesdays: Thursdays:

3:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m.

Please remember to bring items

for the Mayor’s Feed the Hungry

Program the first Sunday of each

month and place those items in

the grocery cart in the narthex.

No Covered Dish Dinner

There will not be a covered dish dinner in April. Please join us on the 18th for the Seder Dinner. Look forward to seeing you there!

Easter Lilies Order forms for Easter Lilies will be in the Sunday bulletin t one more week (due back in the office by April 11th). They are $10 each and you may take them home after the 10 am service on Easter Sunday.

Prayers answered

In February an item on our prayer focus card was “The

Fellowship Hall will be finished.” We were able to raise the

funds to replace the carpet, baseboard and place cork tiles on

the walls in the Fellowship Hall itself and that part of the

project will soon be completed. Thank you to Dave Strait

and his crew for all the work they did on this project. The

hallway and the former classrooms needed painting and the

floors needed to be stripped and waxed. God sent us people

who needed to complete some community service hours and

those projects are in the works as well. Thank you to Kathy

Barbour for coordinating this project and to Wes, Nicole,

Kyle and Jerrell for the work they have completed.

Prayers are answered! God is good! Thanks be to God!

Please join us Maundy Thursday, April 18, 2019, at 5:30 p.m.

for a traditional Seder Dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets are

$20 each and available in the office Monday through Thursday

from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. or from the Sontchi’s in the

narthex on Sundays after worship.

Rabbi Anne will be joining us and sharing some of the Jewish

traditions that are a part of the Seder dinner.

A big thank you to all who brought shower and laundry items for

the Remnant Café in March. We had a wonderful response and these

items will make a difference in many lives.

ZOE (ZAMBABWE ORPHANS EMPOWERED)

We would like to support ZOE (Zimbabwe Orphans Empowered) as the

mission recipient of 50% of our Compassion Sunday Offering for the next 3

years. We would commit supporting orphans in one of these communities for

a $4000 a year commitment to them. This program, empowers orphans to

work together to help them get out of poverty and help them to help other

orphans out of poverty. We would help them by giving them community with

each other thus fulfilling the family part of their lives as well as resourcing them

to begin businesses, farms, materials to build their homes, and health resources

as well.
