All Souls Masses in November

During the month of November, we remember all our loved ones who have gone before us, in faith, to be with our Father. If you would like to remember your loved ones, we ask that you write their names on the All Souls Envelope. You are invited to in-clude your donation inside the envelope and put it in the offertory basket. The names of our departed loved ones will be placed at the front of the altar and will remain there throughout the month. Envelopes are available in the vestibule or in the Church by the bulletins.

A Reflection from Deacon Dennis Merino

Forsake me not…. Follow the rules In the first reading of Malachi, we are told to stay focused on God no matter what our status or success. He is talking to the priests of the Covenant. But, he is talking to all of us, head of the household, workplace, country. When we turn aside from the Way, the Truth, and the Light, Jesus, our example causes many to falter by the instruction of our example. When we break faith with one another, we are really breaking faith with Jesus. The Psalm again reminds us where our true Peace lies…”In you Lord, I have found my peace”… Why then do we constantly try to find it in other things, money, importance, flesh, escape? It’s right in front of us all of the time …”In you Lord, I have found my peace”… In Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, he gives us an example of what peace looks like. It is doing the best we can with what we understand the will of God is…. If we do this, we will be blessed with the peace that only comes from God by way of the Spirit. The Gospel Acclamation is beautiful…”We have but one Father in heaven and one master, the Christ.” In the Gospel of Matthew we hear Jesus telling us to do what authority instructs to do, but don’t follow their example. As I think of our leaders today, both in the church and in government, there are plenty of instances of failure among us. This does not mean they or we are bad, only that God is allowing us to fail so He can, and does forgive us. At the same time we are called to follow what authority says, but not their example. I believe, in this life, we will never fully understand the gift of God’s love for us….

In need of volunteers…

We are in need of volunteers for three of our ministries: ushers, baptisms and singers and piano players 2 times a month on Sunday’s. For those in-terested in becoming an usher, please contact Bill Duval 916.606.2314, for Sunday’s Choir contact Ray Guertin 916.458.1578. For any other question please contact Ruth.

Please Remember…

If you or a loved one is unable to attend mass due to an illness, hospital stay, assisted care living, nursing home rehabilitation or have a physical li-mitation, you may request that communion be brought to them by a Eucharistic Minister. Please call the office with any questions and/or to make arrangements. Thank you.
