Vocation Awareness: “Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put His spirit in them.” All Catholics share the prophetic ministry of the Lord through baptism. Is He calling you to bear witness to His truth as a priest or in the consecrated life? Call Father Matthew Mason (603) 663-0132, or write: [email protected]

TAKE A STEP IN FAITH! It is important to remember that our participation in the parish must start

with our participation in the Eucharist. If we are not in communion with Our Lord and our parish family, then we may be great volunteers, but we are not really Christian stewards. We may be involved in activities that please us, benefit us or give us fulfillment but we may not be involved in the most important things. We may not be putting God in the center of our busyness. Many active stewards state that they get so much more than they give. The active participation in parish ministry can be a cure for loneliness, self-centeredness, anger or fear. Everyone has different talents. Find a ministry that matches your unique gifts, even if it is just a warm, welcoming smile or a steady hand to open a door or pour a cup of coffee! Acknowledge that even Jesus calls the busy to serve. If we think we are too busy we should ask God to help us restore balance in our lives. Maybe we are busy with work that must be done. However, maybe we are busy because of the choices we made.

The Rosary Rally was held September 12 with over 200 people gathered to pray the Rosary. It was a picture perfect day for a peace-filled celebration. Go to the website to view the event. Saintsmaryandjoseph.org

Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.”

A Cup of Water to Drink Can something so mundane and simple merit a reward from God? Mother Teresa frequently spoke of doing small things with great love. Doing something “because someone belongs to Christ” is an act of true charity because it is done for the sake of Jesus. Mother Teresa frequently cited words of Jesus, “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt 25:40). In the end, it is not the size of the deed that matters most, but the depth of our charity. What are the small and ordinary ways we can love Christ in others? What are the simple ways we can give a cup of water, so to speak, to people in our life? Lectio Divina, Magnificat, September 2021, Mary Healy

Eucharistic Miracles At every Catholic Mass, following the command of Jesus himself, the celebrant raises the host and says, “Take this, all of you, and eat it: This is my body, which will be given up for you.” Then he lifts the cup and says, “Take this, all of you, and drink from it: This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.” The doctrine of transubstantiation, the teaching that bread and wine are converted into the actual flesh and blood of Jesus Christ, is difficult. When Christ first told his followers of it, many rejected him. But Jesus did not clarify his state-ment or correct their misunderstanding. He simply repeated his command to the disciples at the Last Supper. Some Christians today still have trouble accepting this teaching. Throughout history, though, many people have reported miracles that brought them back to the truth. The Church has recognized over one hundred eucharistic miracles, many of which occurred during times of weakened faith in transub-stantiation. Changes are coming to the way NH makes phone calls! Beginning on October 24, 2021 you will have to dial ALL 10 DIGITS to make local and long distance telephone calls!! To get into the habit, it is suggested that you start dialing the three digit area code when making local calls now. Reprogram automatic dialing equipment like life-safety equipment, medical devices, cell phone contact lists, call-forwarding & voicemail services and other similar functions. Change email signature, stationery and business cards if they do not have the area code listed.
