Thanks to all of you for being so wonderfully supportive of the new direct sale Pie Fund-raiser. Many of you ordered pies and/or helped with advertising to family, friends, and church members. 80 pies have been pre-sold, but we’ll bake 100 because there are sure to be folks who haven’t heard of the new venture and will want to buy a pie. For a first year undertaking, the results are fantastic.

Those of you who have fruit to donate, please bring it to the center on Wednesday, July 6th. All the baking will take place on Thursday, July 7th, and pies will be ready for pickup or delivery on the 8th. Membership & Newsletter renewal is underway. Molalla River State Park is located at the confluence

of the Molalla & Willamette Rivers. Hike the trail along the shore—out and back, relatively flat, approx. 3.2 miles; restaurant stop for lunch

Repeat trip to Willamette Mission State Park to explore the hiking trails. One of the most significant sites in the Willamette Valley, the original buildings are represented by “ghost structures”. Picnic lunch or add $8 for box lunch. Much walking.

CHINOOK WINDS CASINO with MT. HOOD ATHLETIC CLUB - Mon., 7/18 DEPART: 7:15am RETURN: 7:30pm COST: Bus is Free! BRING: $ for lunch & ?

Mt. Hood Athletic Club has arranged for a motor coach

to transport folks to Lincoln City with 15 spots for our group. Call or stop by to hold a spot. Little walking. CANBY FERRY & DINE-OUT at BACKSTOP BAR & GRILL—Wed., 7/27 DEPART: 5:00pm RETURN: 9:00pm COST: $5 MENU PRICES: $12-21 + gratuity Travel the back roads to beautiful Canby. Backstop is located in a historical building and features a variety of entrees from salads to wraps to burgers to steaks. Enjoy sports treasures and memorabilia as well as a ride on the Canby Ferry. Little walking. A DAY IN CANNON BEACH - Tues., 8/9 DEPART: 8:30 am RETURN: 5:30 pm COST: $10 Enjoy a scenic drive the coast. Once in Cannon Beach, explore the town including bakeries, candy shops, art galleries and book stores. Gather for a lunch of chowder or seafood, then walk the beach or take in more of the quaint downtown. Much walking.

CLACKAMAS COUNTY FAIR - Wed., 8/17 DEPART: 9:00 am RETURN: 4:00 pm COST: $5 Adult fair-goers have a day designed just for them. Admission cost is $2.00 for ages 65-74 and those 75+ get in free. Check out the food booths, livestock displays, entertainment and exhibits. Much walking. OREGON STATE FAIR - Tues., 8/30 DEPART: 9:00 am RETURN: 5:00 pm COST: $8 There’s no such thing as too much summer fun, and there’s no better place to get your share than the Oregon State Fair. With roots going back to 1861, this is one of the nation’s classics. Get an overall view with the Fair Lift, and enjoy the animals, flowers, canned goods, entertainment and that yummy fair food. Much walking. TRANSIT TRIPS: TILIKUM BRIDGE CROSSING (TUE. 7/19) & OSWEGO HERITAGE COLLECTOR CAR & CLASSIC BOAT SHOW (SUN. 8/28) July: DEPART: 9:15am RETURN: 4:30pm COST: $7 Take SAM & MAX to OMSI. Stroll the Tilikum Crossing, then on to Pioneer Square for a lunchtime concert. Approx. 2.5 miles of walking; fairly flat. Bring money for lunch. Pre-reg by 7/14. Much walking.

Aug: DEPART: 10:15am RETURN: 4:30pm COST: $7 Take SAM, MAX & TriMet bus to Lake Oswego. Celebrate the beauty & function of 300 collector cars and over 40 classic boats. Bring money for lunch. Pre-reg by 8/23.

At 10:00am on the first day of sign-ups (always the first working day of the month) staff will randomly draw from the stack of registrations and sign folks up. ONCE A TRIP FILLS, EXCESS NAMES WILL GO ON A WAITING LIST, AND THOSE PEOPLE WILL BE NOTIFIED.

SPECIAL EVENTS PIE BAKING - Thurs., 7/7; Dining Rm; 12:30pm to parade time. Please sign up to mix, roll or decorate crust, fill shells, crimp or mark pies, bake or do dishes. Just one day of baking! Proceeds from sales benefit the Sandy/Boring Meals-on-Wheels program.

MEDICARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - The SHIBA program is sponsored by Clackamas County and designed to help participants with Medicare insurance claims.

OUTREACH SERVICES - Home visits to assist with coordination of services to maximize independent lifestyles.

PROBLEM-SOLVING/INFORMATION & REFERRAL - Help with concerns about life situations: in-home care, home repairs, consumer problems, finances, housekeeping, nutrition, access to other agencies, personal loss, etc. SHOPPING SERVICE - Thurs.; 9am (please call at least one day in advance). Van rides to local stores. Stops limited depending on time available. Suggested donation is $1.50. TRANSPORTATION - Rides available to adults 60+ in the Sandy area for shopping, medical appts., and center lunch. A 24-hr. notice is necessary to assure the best service for local rides. Suggested donation 75¢ each way. Rides are available for medical appts. in Gresham/Portland. Advance notice is requested for rides outside the Sandy area; $2 charge each way.
