At the end of the year 2006 Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed at 7933.29 points as compared to 16712.64 points for the previous year, a drop of 52.53%. The highest close level for the index (TASI) during the year was 20634.86 points as on 25/02/2006. The Market Capitalization at the end of the year 2006 has reached SR 1225.86 billion (US$ 326.9 billion), decreasing by 49.72% as compared to the previous year. The Total Value of Shares Traded for the year 2006 has reached SR 5.26 trillion (US$ 1.40 trillion) compared to SR 4.14 trillion (US$ 1.10 trillion) for the previous year posting an increase of 27.14%. The total number of Shares Traded for the year 2006 has reached 54.44 billion compared to 12.28 billion for the previous year, increasing by 343.27% The total number of Transactions executed during the year 2006 has reached 96.10 million compared to 46.61 million trades for the previous year, increasing by 106.2% The Daily Average of Value of Shares Traded during the year 2006 has reached SR 19.86 billion compared to SR 13.84 billion for the previous year, increasing by 43.45%. The Daily Average of Number of Shares Traded during the year 2006 has reached 205.43 million compared to 41.07 million shares for the previous year, increasing by 400.14%. The Daily Average Number of Transactions during the year 2006 has reached 362.63 thousand compared to 155.88 thousand transactions for the previous year, increasing by 132.63%.
Annual Review - 2006
Sectoral Activity:
In term of volume of shares traded, services sector was the most active sector during the year 2006, the number of shares traded for the sector has reached 20.06 billion shares that represent 36.8% of the total volume traded during the year. Value of shares traded and the number of transactions for the year 2006 were led by the industrial sector amounting to SR 2.12 trillion and 36.74 million respectively that represent 40.4% and 38.2% of the total market. Stocks Activity: With respect to stocks activities during 2006, Anaam Holding led the market in term of number of transactions that reached 3.34 million, followed by YANSAB and Saudi Electricity Company that witnessed 3.07 and 2.88 million transactions respectively. In term of volume of shares traded, Saudi Electricity company led the market with 5.19 billion shares traded during the year, followed by Annam Holding (4.13 billion) and Arriyadh Development Company (1.76 million). SABIC was the market leader in term of value of shares traded and has shown a turnover of SR 230 billion. The two other most active stocks were Saudi Electricity Company (SR 204.67 billion) and Annam Holding (SR 172.25 billion). New Listing During 2006:
• On 20/2/2006 Yanbu National Petrochemical Company (YANSAB) was listed (with a paid up capital of SR 5.625 billion divided into 112.5 million shares). The company offered 39,375 million shares at SR 50 per share.
• On 14/3/2006 Aldrees Petroleum &Transport Services Co. was listed (with a paid
up capital of SR 200 million divided into 4 million shares). The company offered 1.2 million shares at SR 185 per share.
• On 15/5/2006 Saudi Research and Marketing Group was listed (with paid up
capital of SR 800 million divided into 80 million shares). The company offered 24 million shares at a price of SR 46 per share.
• On 14/6/2006 Saudi Paper Manufacturing Co. was listed (with paid up capital of
SR 240 million divided into 24 million shares). The company offered 7.2 million shares at a price of SR 62 per share.
• On 7/10/2006 Emmar The Economic City was listed (with a paid up capital of SR
8.5 billion divided into 850 million shares). The company offered 255 million shares at SR 10 per share.
• On 4/11/2006 Red Sea Housing Services Co. was listed (with a paid up capital of
SR 300 million divided into 30 million shares). The company offered 9 million shares at SR 58 per share.
• On 11/11/2006 Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) was listed (with a
paid up capital of SR 1.5 billion divided into 150 million shares). The company offered 45 million shares at SR 55 per share.
• On 12/12/2006 Al-Babtain Power & Telecommunication Co. was listed (with a paid
up capital of SR 270 million divided into 27 million shares). The company offered 8.1 million shares at SR 40 per share.
• On 23/12/2006 Fawaz Abdulaziz Al Hokair Co. was listed (with a paid up capital of
SR 400 million divided into 40 million shares). The company offered 12 million shares at SR 110 per share.
New Offering During 2006 (Not Listed): • Advanced Polypropylene Co. (APPC) offered 66.375 million shares at a price of
SR 10 (nominal value) per share, that represent an increase in the company’s share capital. Once the offer is completed the company’s share capital will become SR 1,413.75 million, divided into 141.375 million shares. Starting November 25, 2006.
• Al Abdullatif Industrial Investment Co. (with a paid up capital of SR 650 million,
divided into 65 million shares), offered 19.5 million shares at a price of SR 42 per share (SR 10 as a nominal value and SR 32 as a premium). Starting December 9, 2006.
Corporate Actions During 2006:
• Bishah Agriculture Co. split its share nominal value from SR 100 to SR 50, therefore its total number of issued shares became 1 million shares. Effective 21/1/2006.
• Saudi Cable Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing 2.4 million shares for its
shareholders' (Right Issue) at SR 50 per share, raising its total number of shares to 15.2 million. Effective 22/1/2006.
• Riyadh Bank increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for every
four shares held, raising its total number of shares to 125 million. Effective 28/2/2006.
• Al Rajhi Bank increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for every two
shares held, raising its total number of shares to 135 million. Effective 5/3/2006.
• Banque Saudi Fransi increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for every two shares held, raising its total number of shares to 67.5 million. Effective 6/3/2006.
• The Saudi Investment Bank increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus
share for every two and half shares held, raising its total number of shares to 48.125 million. Effective 7/3/2006.
• Arab National Bank increased its paid up capital by issuing three bonus shares for
every ten shares held, raising its total number of shares to 65 million. Effective 12/3/2006.
• SABB (The Saudi British Bank) increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus
share for every two shares held, raising its total number of shares to 75 million. Effective 21/3/2006.
• Aseer Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing three bonus shares for every ten
shares held, raising its total number of shares to 16.25 million. Effective 21/3/2006.
• Eastern Cement Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for
every three shares held, raising its total number of shares to 17.2 million. Effective 26/3/2006.
• Yamama Cement Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing two bonus shares for
every one share held, raising its total number of shares to 27 million. Effective 29/3/2006.
• Saudi Hollandi Bank increased its paid up capital by issuing three bonus shares for
every four shares held, raising its total number of shares to 44.1 million. Effective 29/3/2006.
• Southern Province Cement Company increased its paid up capital by issuing one
bonus share for every three shares held, raising its total number of shares to 28 million. Effective 1/4/2006.
• The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia increased its paid up capital by
issuing one bonus share for every eight shares held, raising its total number of shares to 225 million. Effective 12/4/2006.
• Saudi Telecom Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for
every three shares held, raising its total number of shares to 2000 million. Effective 12/4/2006.
• SAVOLA Group Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing two bonus shares for
every three shares held, raising its total number of shares to 300 million. Effective 16/4/2006.
• Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) increased its paid up capital by issuing one
bonus share for every four shares held, raising its total number of shares to 2500 million effective 22/4/ 2006.
• Saudi Chemical Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for
every five shares held raising its total number of shares to 63.24 million. Effective 2/5/2006.
• Zamil Industrial Investment Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing two bonus
shares for every seven shares held, raising its total number of shares to 45 million. Effective 11/5/2006.
• Saudi Industrial Investment Group increased its paid up capital by issuing one
bonus share for every four shares held, raising its total number of shares to 225 million. Effective 24/5/2006.
• Al Ahsa Development Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share
for every four shares held, raising its total number of shares to 42.875 million. Effective 8/6/2006.
• National Metal Manufacturing and Casting Co. increased its paid up capital by
issuing 3,856,125 new shares for buying partners shares in the Arabian Company for Axles, Castings & Spare Parts, merging it into Maadaniyah and raising its total number of shares to 16,356, 125 . Effective 7/6/2006.
• NAMA Co. increased its paid up capital by issuing 3 million shares for the
minority shareholders’ in its affiliate Jana, fully acquire it and raising its total number of shares to 68 million. Effective 14/6/2006.
• Bank Al Jazira increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus share for every
two shares held, raising its total number of shares to 112.5 million. Effective 21/6/2006.
• Taibah Investment & Real Estate Company decreased its paid up capital from
SR 1.5 billion to SR 1,230,365,000. The total number of issued shares reduced to 123,036,500 shares. Effective 1/7/2006.
• National Industrialization Company increased its paid up capital by issuing
76,490,050 shares for the minority shareholders' in (Tasnee Petrochemical), fully acquiring it and raise the number of its issued shares to 233,049,050. Effective 4/7/2006.
• Saudi Real Estate Co. increased its paid up capital to 1.2 billion divided into 120
million shares of value SR 10 per share. The increment will be covered by offering 30 million shares (Right Issue) at a price of SR 52 per share (SR 10 as a nominal value and SR 42 as a premium) and issuing on bonus share for every two shares held. Effective 17/9/2006.
• Savola Group increased its paid up capital by issuing one bonus shares for every
four shares held, raising its total number of shares to 375 million. Effective 11/10/2006.
• The National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia increased its paid up capital by issuing
90 million shares (Right Issue) at a price of SR 21 per share, raising its total number of issued shares to 315 million. Effective 25/11/2006.
During the month of April, 2006 stock split for all listed companies was applied. The nominal value per share became SR 10 instead of SR 50.
Trading Time: • Thursdays Trading was cancelled starting from Thursday 15th June 2006. • Capital Market Authority announced a resolution by which the trading session is to
be adjusted to one-session from 11:00 AM to 03:30 PM effective 28/10/2006.
