    STEWARDSHIP

    SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS FLOWERS DONATED BY:

Adam Wilson and Jackie Viren, in joyful celebration of their 5th anniversary (on May 26).

“The parking lot construction has been mostly on hold for well over a week due to June showers. The pouring of most of the concrete is complete. If the weather holds – the plan is to begin paving the lot next week. Since the weather has not cooperated the past three weeks, we expect the project to extend into June. Once the paving is completed we will begin the landscaping. We anticipate that our new parking lot will be a wonderful addition to the Church and something we can all appreciate.

Please consider a gift to help complete our fund raising effort. We are currently just above $50,000 with $20,000 yet to raise!” Ascension Trustees

    MISSION AND MINISTRY

If you are a Member of Ascension Lutheran Church you are a Member of the Church Foundation!!

Spring is here and warm summer days are ahead, so it’s a good time to gather with family and friends celebrating holidays and the JOY of living in ‘Colorado’s Great Outdoors’. A time to kick-back a little with picnics, hiking, swimming, traveling and relaxing! Be thankful for quiet days, when nothing special seems to be happening. Instead of being bored by the lack of action, use times of routine to spend time with God, recognizing when you walk trustingly with Him you are richly blessed.

Please keep our Adopt-a Student Andrew Kubowicz and his wife studying at Concordia Seminary in your prayers, as well as Stephanie Lund serving young adults in Slovakia and Iantha Scheiwe serving Christian Educators and Lutheran Schools in the Greater China Region, both women are working through Mission of Christ Network. May they serve with Joy, Wisdom and Clarity as they spread the Love of Christ to others around the world. It would be good if you cut this paragraph out and use it as a book mark in your Bible or post it on the refrigerator as a reminder to say a little prayer for them this summer.

On behalf of the Foundation, Larry Nisbet presented the slate of our 10 directors for 2017 for the Ascension voter’s approval at the Ascension Voters’ Meeting April 23. The slate was approved by vote as presented. Thank you Larry for filling in for President Mike Price at the meeting. Mike’s daughter Noel was hospitalized and he was unable to attend. The Foundation’s ‘Update’ News was in your mailbox the first of May. Thank you Ascension Members for your support!!

To support Your Foundation with a gift or to submit a Grant Request, please contact Mike Price. For a timely response please have your Grant Requests in before the end of each month.

In the Narthex, you will find a Foundation Bulletin Board. There are envelopes for special gifts or memorials made to the Foundation. Grant applications and guidelines are available, as well. PLEASE SUBMIT GRANT APPLICATIONS BY THE END OF EACH MONTH. THANKS.

Have you ever wondered what Noah’s Flood was like? How did it change our world? See an “Interview with Noah” and get an idea of what it might have been like to experience the flood! What does geology and the fossil record tell us about the flood and the age of the earth? Does it confirm the Biblical account of the flood? When Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980, it gave scientists an excellent laboratory to understand the global flood and the formation of features like the Grand Canyon. We’ll be featuring a DVD called “Mt. St. Helen’s” by Dr. Steve Austin, (one of the scientists featured in “Is Genesis History?”)

We’ll be serving Hot Dogs, Brats, and Sausages! Bring a dish to share and come spend an evening with us learning about the flood on Wednesday night, June 7, at 6:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Ascension!

All ages are welcome, but the “Mt. St. Helen” DVD will probably be most appropriate for those Junior High and up.
