NATURAL TEAK AND BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL The beauty of the Tres Chic collection lies not only in its remarkable design, but also in the blending of natural teak with brushed stainless steel. Teak is a wood species highly valued for its beauty, durability and resistance to the elements, making it the ideal natural material for crafting premium outdoor furniture. The teak used in Tres Chic originates from plantations certifi ed by the Forest Stewardship Council for sustainable growth and harvesting.

The Elegant Aging of TeakThe teak elements in Tres Chic have been sanded and treated with a special UV protectant calledOSMO 410 UV Protection Oil to achieve a warm golden-brown fi nish. When allowed to age naturally, teak will gradually lighten to a soft silver-gray patina, which many consider highly desirable. Teak does not require special maintenance or protection. The silver-gray coloration is a sophisticated look in combination with brushed stainless steel.

If you prefer the Teak to retain its golden appearance rather than aging naturally, it will be necessary to periodically re-apply OSMO oil or a high-quality teak oil. The timing between applications will vary depending upon the climate in which the furniture is placed. If the Teak is allowed to age before the re-application of OSMO oil or teak oil, it may be necessary to clean the wood with warm soapy water, rinse, and allow to air dry for 24 hours before applying the oil.

OSMO 410 UV Protector Oil is available from GreenDepot at (206) 315-1974 or online at www.greendepot.com. It should also be noted that some transfer of oil can occur if fabric cushions are left sitting on oiled teak for an extended period of time.

The Beauty of Brushed Stainless SteelThe 304 brushed stainless steel used in Tres Chic is the fi nest quality available for outdoor furnituredesigns. It is highly resistant to corrosion, but the surface is still susceptible to the eff ects of salt water and airborne chemicals, which will result in pitting or small brown spots on the metal surface. This is particularly the case in coastal climates, or where the furniture is exposed to chlorinated pool water.

Residue from salt air or chlorinated water must not be left on stainless steel for prolonged periods. A highly eff ective stainless steel maintenance kit, comprised of a cleaner and protectant, is available through Golden Care Products at (800) 706-5225 or online at www.koverroos.com. Minor brown spots can also be easily cleaned by gently rubbing the stainless steel with an extra fi ne Scotchbrite pad in the direction of the brushed fi nish.
