Second Sunday of Advent Readings
First Reading: Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11 Isaiah emphasizes that from the desert to the mountains,
all people must prepare for “the glory of the Lord to be revealed.” Rather than looking only at God’s power, Isaiah focuses on God’s kindness, comparing it to a
shepherd who feeds and cares for his flock.
Second Reading: 2 Peter 3:8-14 For those who are impatient for the Second Coming,
Peter explains that time is different to God than to people. He reminds them that they should be grateful for the extra time to prepare, and concentrate on striving to
become all that God would want them to be.
Gospel: Mark 1:1-8 In this passage, John the Baptist stressed the importance Of the coming of the Messiah. He acknowledged that he
was only the messenger, and unfit to “stoop and untie his sandal straps.” John urged them to prepare for one far

2018 Calendars, Contribution Envelopes and Oplatky can be obtained in the church hall after all the weekend masses.
All are welcomed to attend the serenade in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, beginning with an 8:00 PM Mass in Spanish this Monday, Dec. 11th and on Tuesday, Dec. 12th you are invited to attend the Trilingual Mass in English, Slovak and Spanish at 7:00 PM followed by a procession at 8:00 PM. Light refreshments will follow.
Monthly meeting is next Sunday, December 17th at 12:30 PM. After the meeting we will be having our children’s Christmas Party from 1:00–4:00 PM. All members are asked to attend.

******************************************* Domovina usporiada silvestrovskú zábavu v nedeľu 31. decembra. Vstupné bude $55.00 za dospelých a mládež nad 18 rokov. Poplatok za deti od 10 do 18 rokov bude $15.00 a deti do 10 rokov majú vstupné bezplatné. V cene je započítaná večera, káva a koláče. Hudba - DJ.
