Susan Parrett

What a wonderful day we had at

HOOT! With so many demos, make it-

take it’ s, and, of course, lots of booths with new paint-

ing projects and supplies, the day flew by. Afterwards,

it was good to be able to climb back on the bus and

relax for the trip home. A special thanks to Alice Gold-

fuss and Mary Ann Slizewski for all of their hard work

organizing a very enjoyable day for all of us.

September will be a full month for GCDA. After our

regular meeting on September 14, Pat Hull will be

teaching a colored pencil class. Pat enjoys using

unique surfaces. At her class, she will introduce us to

working with colored pencil on wood and bisque, as

well as paper. Don’t miss it!

On September 27, GCDA will be offering a seminar

taught by Sharon Chinn. Sharon’s project is an Au-

tumn-themed wood banner painted in acrylics. If you

have ever taken a class from Sharon, you know she’s a

great teacher and her classes are always fun.

If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t delay! Forms for

each class are in the newsletter.

Well, now it’s time for me to get back to working on all

those new ideas I picked up at HOOT!

Happy painting!!

In planning the April 2015 GCDA Painting Retreat with the theme “It’s a Shore Thing”, it was decided that the fish which inhabit the

waters off the shores of GCDA should be included in the fun. This notion gave rise to the first-ever

“GCDA RETREAT FISHING TOURNAMENT” !! To help kick off this event, we present some of the fish from those waters to give you an idea of the strange mysterious creatures that swim there. These particular fish are Tournament Ambassadors and are therefore ineligible to be in the tournament. It’s up to you to

bring newer, weirder, fancier and even more eccentric fish to Retreat.

To enter the tournament, you will start with a “naked fish” (see photo to the right) which you will dress up in any way or fashion you choose. You will then bring your fish to the April 2015 Retreat for entry in the Tournament. Naked fish will be provided by the Chapter for an entry fee of $2.00 each

with a maximum of two fish per person.

MEET THE AMBASSADOR FISH AT THE SEPT MEETING !

GCDA HOOT BUS TRIP

Alice Goldfuss, Coordinator

Thirty seven ladies and one gent met in the early morning of August 14th to

board the bus at the first pick up location bound for Columbus and the HOOT

Trade Show. We made 2 more stops and arrived just as the show opened to the

public, and were greeted by ladies of HOOT’s welcoming committee. We spent

the day looking, learning and buying. Just about the time when our legs and feet

were crying, we packed our goodies in the bus and then enjoyed dinner at Ruby

Tuesday’s Restaurant in Grove City. Thanks to Mary Ann Slizewski for helping

with snacks and being the ‘official photographer’.

This trip was a great success and actually made a small profit for GCDA.. Maybe

next year, you also will make plans to join us and have a fun day.

Alice Goldfuss

Not all riders were on the bus when this photo was taken;

many were still in line to board.
