ROAD WORKSince his last encounter o a prickly kind Te Jet has not hadthe opportunity to demonstrate whether he actually learned alesson. We did go or a walk the other day and noticed a largeporcupine hanging out under the same apple tree, but Te Jetdidnt notice in his rush to get out to the woods. I can see aconict arising in the uture, though, as the supply o apples onthe ground starts to dwindle. You see Te Jet loves his applesAer having a large meal the other night, I needed to have aquick walk just to ease that over-stued eeling o an all you caneat buet. Surrounding our house and along the driveway, thereare at least ve or six apple trees that he is very amiliar withSo as we walked Te Jet enjoyed his very own version o an alyou can eat buet!!! Tree circuits o the driveway and six or soapples later, Te Jet has had a great time!!

In other news, work on my woods road is proceeding asterthan I expected, but it is airly crude with lots o alders, stumpsand other debris along the route. My main objective is to justget the road through and worry about the xing up later. I amaraid, however, that the xing up could be a three year to liesentence. As I have been working on the road, I have also beenthinking!! Strange I know, but it sometimes happens.

It is generally agreed that the City o Saint John has a ewissues with their own roads that need to be xed. Te solutionhowever, will likely run into the millions o dollars!! But, I mayhave a much cheaper solution!! You see, in order to have happyresidents, it is important to manage expectations. So or a measly$10 per resident, I am willing to give Saint John residents a rideon my very own version o Chesley Drive (including a crossing

o our amous bridge). A simple 15 or 20 minute journey wilquickly reset orever, their whole notion o what a bad roadlooks like. Te City will save millions and the $680,000 in tripees will allow me the time, material and equipment needed tonicely nish my road!! A win-win situation i I ever saw one!!

For the visitors rom the West Side to my road adventure, Iwas hoping to recreate Simms Corner, but Ill be darned i I cangure out how to construct such a convolution. But us WestSiders know that Simms Corner was designed to keep out theoreigners and the less than courageous; and it has workeddarn well or many decades!! 800

    To my Family and Friends

    HERES AN APP fOR HA

I must coness I am a cell phone dinosaur. I am not the last holdout who doesnt own a cell (that will likely be Michael), but allI want is a phone that is a phone and only a phone. My currentmodel is several years old and does me just ne. I expect it cantake pictures, but I have no idea how nor do I care to learn. I Iwant to take photos I will use my camera. It may or may not playmusic. It may or may not unction as a GPS. Tere are likely anumber o unexplored eatures and cool things it can do, but Ihave no inclination to discover them. Te main selling eatureto me is that when I go to enter a phone number (no I dont haveany numbers stored in it, I either know the number or I look itup in (gasp) the phone book) the numbers on the display areBIG! I can see them without my glasses. Perect!

At the same time my daughters love to share all the cool

things that newer phones can do. It seems there is an app orvirtually anything you can imagine, and many that would neverhave crossed your mind. Te Apple website claims 425,000 or

just their version o the smart phone. Heard a tune you cantremember the name o . . . theres an app or that. Want to knowwhat urry critter le behind that track in your ravaged garden. . . theres an app or that. Wish you could get that $200 backyou leant Uncle Joe but the only way you will get paid is i youcould get a credit card payment rom him . . . theres an app orthat. Flashlight died and its DARK OU HERE . . . theres anapp or that. Te party is hopping and you orgot your guitar .. . theres an app or that. Want to check on the status o your

ight . . . theres an app or that. Misplaced yourMercedes-Benz in the parking lot . . . theres

an app or that. Golng and want to knowthe distance to the next hole . . . theres an

app or that. Some o this stu really is pretty cool. But as or me, I am happy with having a

phone that is a phone. So I got home, and the phone was

ringing. I picked it up, and saidWhos speaking please? And a

voice said You are. ~ im Vine.801
