Ecumenism is a word that

means "everyone united" and is

used to describe the effort of

Christians of different

denominations in order to become

one as Jesus asks. There has been

many great efforts to highlight

what unites us and to bear witness

to charity, since unfortunately, we can not give unity in faith. The

fruit of ecumenism awareness of the respect we owe between

Christian religions, considering that all profess the same faith in

Jesus Christ.

Traditionally Catholics are afraid to Protestants and

consider them our enemies. It's going to be difficult to learn to

tolerate and respect their peculiar faith.

That distorted ecumenism is what exaggerates the

comprehension and tolerance and leads some to say that it does not

matter whether one is Catholic or Protestants; since

we worship Christ in both religions. Today, the Catholic Church

wholeheartedly wants to become one with our Orthodox and

Protestant brothers, but we are not; there is still a lot that separates

us as Christian doctrine and practices.

While the long-awaited return to be one in faith time comes,

we admire the values these separate churches as we should because

they have come from the Catholic Church that were once united.

One of these values, in Protestant churches, is the great love

they have for the Bible, love that has led to exaggerate the extent of

saying that their faith is based on the Bible alone. We, however, do

not despise the Apostolic Tradition and the Magisterium of the

Church, along with the Bible, are the sources of revelation.

We do not despise the Bible, but we have neglected it, to the

extent that most of the baptized is not familiar with it, although it is

proclaimed in the Sunday and daily Eucharistic assemblies.

We do not have a biblical culture despite the emphasis that

has been given following the Second Vatican Council completed fifty

years ago. It's dissemination has intensified, versions accessible to

the common people have increasingly multiplied, is included in the

pre sacramental catechesis and no shortage of parish courses to

know her better and learn to live, but the use and handling of the

Bible continues to be a privilege of some few being closest to the

Church faithful.

It is urgent that the bedside book of every Catholic is

the Bible, where it sprouts as the source of living water, a greater

knowledge of God and an evangelization proceeding from the lips of

Christ himself, our Master.

Meanwhile, our separated brother and sister will continue

to use the Holy Bible as a weapon to attack the faith of the Catholic

people, ignorant of their faith. Read the Bible in the context of the

Catholic Church.

Ecumenismo es una pala-

bra que significa “todo el mundo

unido” y se usa para designar el

esfuerzo de los cristianos de las dife-

rentes denominaciones para volver a

ser uno como Jesús lo pide. Se han

hecho grandes esfuerzos para resal-

tar lo que nos une y para dar testi-

monio de caridad, ya que no podemos darlo, lamentablemente, de uni-

dad en la fe. Fruto del ecumenismo es el ser conscientes del respeto que

nos debemos entre religiones cristianas, tomando en cuenta de que

todas profesamos una misma fe en Jesucristo.

Tradicionalmente los católicos tenemos miedo a los protestan-

tes y los consideramos como a nuestros enemigos. Nos va a costar mu-

cho trabajo aprender a tolerarlos y a respetar su fe muy particular.

Ese ecumenismo falseado es el que exagera la comprensión y

la tolerancia y lleva a algunos a decir que da lo mismo ser católicos

que protestantes ya que en ambas religiones se adora a Cristo. Hoy por

hoy, la Iglesia Católica desea de todo corazón llegar a ser uno con

nuestros hermanos ortodoxos y nuestros hermanos protestantes, pero

no lo somos; todavía hay mucho que nos separa en lo que toca a doctri-

na y a práctica cristianas.

Mientras llega el momento tan anhelado de volver a ser uno

en la fe, admiramos los valores que estas iglesias separadas tienen y

que deben tener porque han salido de la Iglesia Católica a la que algu-

na vez estuvieron unidas.

Uno de esos valores, en las iglesias protestantes, es el gran

amor que tienen a la Biblia, amor que los ha llevado a exagerar al gra-

do de decir que su fe se basa en la sola Biblia. Nosotros, en cambio, no

despreciamos la tradición apostólica y el magisterio de la Iglesia que,

junto con la Biblia, son las fuentes de la revelación.

No despreciamos la Biblia, pero la hemos descuidado, al gra-

do que la mayor parte de los bautizados no la conoce, a pesar de que es

proclamada en las asambleas eucarísticas dominicales y diarias.

No tenemos una cultura bíblica a pesar del énfasis que se le

ha dado a raíz del Concilio Vaticano II concluido hace cincuenta años.

Se ha intensificado su difusión, se han multiplicado las versiones cada

vez más al alcance del pueblo sencillo, se incluye en las catequesis pre

sacramentales y no faltan los cursos parroquiales para conocerla mejor

y aprender a vivirla, pero el uso y manejo de la Biblia sigue siendo

privilegio de algunos cuantos fieles más cercanos a la Iglesia.

Nos urge lograr que la Biblia sea el libro de cabecera de cada

católico de donde brote como fuente de agua viva un mayor conoci-

miento de Dios y una evangelización que provenga de los labios del

mismo Cristo Maestro.

Mientras tanto, nuestros hermanos separados seguirán usando

la santa Biblia como un arma para atacar la fe del pueblo católico ig-

norante de su fe. Leamos la Biblia en el contexto de la Iglesia Católica.

MISION GUADALUPANA La Misión Guadalupana se está llevando a cabo en Nuestra Comunidad Parroquial, incluyendo Bridgeport y Lee Vining. Cada semana una nueva Familia recogerá el Cuadro de la Virgen Peregrina y la llevará a su casa donde todos los vecinos serán invitados para que participen del Santo Rosario y de los temas de Evangelización impartidos por un par de Misioneros que acompañarán a la Familia durante la Semana. Los Viernes, El Padre Jorge celebrará la Santa Misa en esa casa y habrá convivio. Esta Familia entregará la Imagen a otra nueva Familia que será acompañada durante la semana por otros misioneros. Si quieres recibir la Imagen Peregrina en tu casa, por favor dale tus datos a la Sra.

MISSION OF GUADALUPE

The Guadalupe Mission is taking place in Our Community Parish, including Bridgeport and Lee Vining. Each week a new family will take with them the Pilgrim Image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and take it home, where all the neighbors will be invited to participate in the Rosary and taught the subjects of evangelization for a few missionaries to accompany the family during the week. On Friday’s, Father Jorge will celebrate Mass in that house and there will be fellowship. This family will deliver the image to a new family. It will be accompanied during the week by other missionaries. If you want to receive the Pilgrim image of the Virgin of Guadalupe in your house, please give your details to Ms. Marisela Ayala at (760) 914-0575 or give your information to Father Jorge.
