Officially launched by Khun Prasert Boonchaisuk, Minister of Industry and Khun U-dom Wongviwatchai, Secretary General of the BOI, the dignitaries were guests of honor at the 30 th anniversary of theprestigious event. In 2015 the AEC will be launched making ASEAN the third strongest economic region in the world. The event is considered a great opportunity for Thailand to develop as the industrial hub of ASEAN and is now considered one the most important trade fairs in ASEAN. The exhibition is held in conjunction with the procurement calendar for most industries adding further to its importance. Khun Prasert recently remarked, “Thailand is located in the very center of ASEAN. It has not only sustainable transportation and logistic systems, but also robust utility infrastructure. Thai entrepreneurs need to be technologically prepared in order to exploit these favorable conditions. This gives the ASEAN economy new importance on a global scale.” An added attraction of the event is that it is co-organized with Subcon Thailand - a subcontractors trade fair where buyers and producers gather to form profitable partnerships. This is made possible by BUILD, BOI and UBM Asia (Thailand) working together as a team that is without comparison. “This year, we are focused on regional events and activities that help promote the exchange of knowledge and will help prepare local entrepreneurs for the upcoming AEC in 2015. The competition was held to promote skilled workmanship and encourage technicians to develop their abilities and be able to compete in both regional and global labor markets. The event was also aimed at raising human capital development and labor standards which are necessary to stay ahead in a world of ever-changing social technologies.
