The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. SECOND. High Ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life; FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

UPCOMINGACTIVITIES
February is World Understanding Month
The month of February is designated World Understanding Month on the Rotary calendar. This month also includes the anniversary of the first meeting of Rotary held on Feb 23, 1905, which is now called World Understanding and Peace Day. To observe World Understanding Month, the Rotary International Board asks all the Rotary Clubs to plan programs for their weekly meetings and undertake special activities that emphasize “understanding and goodwill as essential for world peace”. In February, many clubs arrange for international speakers, invite Youth Exchange students and international scholars from schools and universities to club meetings, plan programs featuring former Group Study Exchange team members, arrange discussions on global issues, present entertainment with international artistic theme or plan programs with an international emphasis.
Many clubs take the opportunity to launch an international community service activity or make contact with a Rotary Club in another country.

ROTARY YEAR 2010-2011
THEME & LOGO
Message by SVP Susan Ringol
Greetings to all!! Good news abound as we start the new Year! Our first good news is the release of our tree-planting project grant from the Gilda Catalina Lim Foundation last January 21, 2009 at the Green Conference held in Makati Sports Club. I have already coordinated with Haribon Foundation for the implementation of our “Plant-A-Tree for a Better Future” on February 20, 2010. Their representative Chris Cenal will join us next meeting, Feb 10, to explain the details of this activity. Please reserve the date. Let’s make this a “Family of Rotary” activity. Let’s bring our spouse and children to give them also the opportunity to participate in this environmental project. Also, we will make this a two-in-one activity day. Let’s have our Summer Fun in a nearby resort after our tree-planting project. This will surely be one memorable day of bonding and fellowship!! The other good news is the appreciation expressed by the District officers for the efforts that we put into our Club to sustain it. During the SVP Kick Off at Jardin de Antonio, we had a quick review of our goals/targets and our accomplishments. It is really heartwarming and inspiring to know that the District Officers have gone through our reports and are well aware of how far we have gone. However, to complete our target on membership we still need to recruit at least 2 more members to have a total of 20 or 7 more to have a total of 25. This was also the challenge posed to us during the Governor’s visit last Dec 2. Let’s all help accomplish this by inviting a friend to be a prospective member. I’m sure our Membership Chair PP Al has more ideas to share on this matter. Another thing we still have to work on is the TRF. The district is encouraging all Clubs to participate in the “Every Rotarian Every Year” which means each member must donate US$100 every year as a Paul Harris sustaining member. On the 10th year his personal contribution to the TRF reaches US$1,000 and he will be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Therefore, I would like to call on your generosity to donate your US$100 for this Rotary Year just as Rtn Rose Leonida did. Let’s keep the fire burning…
Finally, in celebration of the World Understanding Month this February, we will co-host, along with other clubs in our District, in the one-day touring of 10 Korean kids in their Rotary Appreciation Visit this month. In closing… let us continue to serve and be an inspiration to others, for the Future of Rotary is in our Hands!!
