Dear Friends and Neighbors,

One of the great advantages of living in the wonderful corner of the world we call South Jordan is the ability we have to enjoy four distinct seasons. We get snow in the winter, sun in the spring, wind in the fall, and lots of warmth in the summer. We realized we have a lot to celebrate in the summer such as the Farmer’s Market for ripe summer produce, splash pads and pools to keep us cool, movies in the park and lots of trails to hike and bike.

In this spirit, the City has decided that henceforth, our Country Fest celebration will be known as “SoJo Summerfest.” SoJo Summerfest is a community celebration and a great kickoff to the summer. There will be carnival rides, a parade, great food, things to see and do, and of course great music and fireworks! When you think about it, it’s like we tried to roll all of the best parts of summer in to one amazing weekend to share with our neighbors and friends!

It is my privilege and honor to serve with the amazing employees and volunteers who make SoJo Summerfest a reality. Without them and their efforts, Summerfest wouldn’t be possible. So I hope you and your family and friends will join us for SoJo Summerfest, and enjoy everything that summer in South Jordan has to offer. SoJo Summerfest Parade

Saturday, June 49:00 a.m.2200 W. Through Park to Towne Center

Join us on beautiful Towne Center Drive, for the traditional SoJo Summerfest Parade. The parade staging area will be located in the Salt Lake County Equestrian dirt lot. The route will begin on 2200 W and Park Road (the North West entrance to City Park) and go down Park Road, around the Softball fields, to the South along the Skate Park and then turn North on Redwood Road, ending with a final turn onto Towne Center Drive. Everyone is invited, so bring your camp chairs and honor our American Flag, watch the amazingly crafted floats, talented bands and collect candy from the emergency vehicles. You can, also, enjoy a tasty Village Inn Breakfast being served from Fire Station # 61 right on Redwood Road.

Grand Marshal: Scott Crump

Scott Crump was born in Newport, Rhode Island on August 11, 1952 to Cal and Gwen Crump while his father was serving in the Navy. He moved to Copperton, Utah in 1954 when his father secured a teaching position at Bingham High School, a position he held for 36 years. Mr. Crump graduated from Bingham High in 1970 and attended BYU—Hawaii for a year. He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain. Upon his return he resumed his studies at Brigham Young University and decided to pursue a career in education. He retired from teaching in 2014 having taught a total of 37 years—all but a semester at Bingham High. Mr. Crump married Desiree DeFrehn in 1993. They have three children, Cami, Matthew, and Zachary.
