BUDGET: Under Revision

Due to Early Bulletin Deadline (Thanksgiving Week), Financial Figures for last weekend were not available at press time. An update will be published next week. Estate Planning Seminar -Tuesday Nov. 29th -

Here at Ss. Peter & Paul ~ Fr. Schuh Hall at 6:30pm. The intent of this seminar is to give you a “starting point” for creating your Will, or updating an old Will. It has been designed to help you organize your thoughts; to help you clarify your objectives; to give you the opportunity to request additional information that will help you in planning your Will.

A carefully thought out and well-planned Will is a statement of one’s life work. It is a way to show love and concern for family members and friends. It is a means, too, for expressing gratitude to God for the many benefits bestowed upon us. It is the responsible Stewardship to which we are called as Christians.

Join us Tuesday, Nov. 29th, 2016 at 6:30pm. Please call the office 435-7548 to let us know you will be coming. Registration is not required, but is very much appreciated.

The nation-wide prayer campaign - Novena for Our Nation - begins on Monday, November 28th, the Feast of Saint Catherine Labouré (who received the apparition of the Miraculous Medal), and goes until January 20th, the day of the Presidential Inauguration.

The "Novena for Our Nation" website is www.novenaforournation.com (You can sign-up to receive daily emails at the website. Also, you can find the daily 54 Day Novena reflections at that same site.

You will find complete instructions and details as to how to pray the 54 day novena (essentially praying a Rosary each day; 27 days in Petition, followed by another 27 days praying in Thanksgiving (in advance) for the granting of the favor being sought).

This is not a “partisan” event, and was planned, regardless of the outcome, prior to our recent national elections.

Pope Francis’ November Intentions

Universal: That the countries which take in a great number of displaced persons and refugees may find support for their efforts which show solidarity.

Evangelization: That within parishes, priests and lay people may collaborate in service to the community without giving into the temptation to discouragement.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

There is an advent spirit in the heart of every human person. It is one of longing and yearning for a spiritual fulfillment in our lives. We all long for the coming of the Lord. What a perfect time for each of us to put money into the special St. Vincent envelope you have sitting on your desk or dresser, and placing it in the collection basket.

Your contribution will make your heart discover the true meaning of Christmas. You will be directly helping your neighbors in need as they also look for the coming of the Lord. Every dollar you give to St. Vincent de Paul is used for this purpose. Then, let your own advent spirit began to grow and prosper!

Dear & Good People of

Ss. Peter &Paul,

Happy New Liturgical Church Year 2016-17!

On this first Sunday of Advent we recall our Church's long-standing tradition that Advent is a time to

mark the three comings of Christ. First is His coming as one of us, a human born of a woman more than two thousand years ago. Second, is His coming in Glory at the end of time. Third is His coming into our hearts so that we, like Mary, can bring Him into a world that sorely needs His presence.

This Year we will read the Scriptures at Mass from Cycle A and the gospel of Matthew. We begin each Advent with Jesus' teaching on the end of the world. Steering us from fearful preoccupation on the one hand and thoughtless disregard on the other, Jesus situates time's decisive culmination in the very midst of everyday life.

Jesus gives no warning signs, no time clues, only seemingly terse commands: "STAY AWAKE! BE PREPARED!" meaning “get to work!” Matthew's best way to get ready for Jesus' coming at the end of time, is to be ready for Jesus' coming at every moment; by making Jesus' compassionate ministry our own life's work.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What "work of darkness" do I need to throw off? What " armor of light" do I need to put on to ensure that I am "awake" and "prepared" for the hour of the Lord's coming?

MARANATHA! COME LORD JESUS! DO NOT DELAY! ALLELUIA!

Pastor's Comments:

Friends during this beautiful but short season, as daylight gives way to darkness, I encourage you to make use of safe home candles as we prepare personally for the annual celebration of Christ the light of the world. Remember to use candles (electric or natural) when you are awake and alert, so as to be safe but vigilant in your prayer life.

This year's calendar allows us to celebrate the full four weeks before Christmas. Make use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) when offered here or any parish in our area.

Since Christmas and New years fall on a weekend this year, mark your calendars with the following dates:

Christmas Eve is Saturday December 24th. Church opens at 3:00pm with confessions. Our Youth Choir will present a short Advent/Christmas concert at

3:30pm, and the Festive Family Mass (in English) starts around 4pm. At 6:30pm we will have Misa en Espaňol(mass in Spanish), and at 8:00pm the Adult Choir will present their Christmas Concert, which will be followed by the Mass of Christmas “During the Night” at 8:30pm in English and Latin.

Christmas Day is Sunday, December 25th. Confessions will not be heard before Masses on Christmas Day. 8:00am & 10:00am Mass of Christmas Day (English), 12:30pm Misa en Espaňol (Mass in Spanish)

New Year's Eve – Vigil of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, Saturday December 31st. Doors open at 3:00pm for Confessions. Mass starts at 4:00pm.

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, New Year's Day, Sunday January 1st. 2017. 8am & 10am Mass in English, 12:30pm Misa en Espaňol (Mass in Spanish)

May we all enjoy a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2017!

Peace and All Good,

~ Fr. Tony Cirignani, OFM

Tenía junto a él muchos discípulos.
