My dear family of St. Andrew the Apostle!
100th Anniversary of the Second Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima — June 13, 1917 — 2017
The Parish Office has multiple copies of the 100th Anniversary DVD of Fatima, A Message of Hope. They can be checked out for a week’s time, so that you may view the presentation which is 52 minutes long — you can call the Office 815-886-4165 ext. 301 to reserve a copy to check out for no more than one week. It is an amazing, excellent, marvelous and brief presentation of the history of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima and what has transpired over these past 100 years. This month of June, when we celebrate the Feasts of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Second Apparition, as described by Sr. Lucia here below:
June 13, 1917 – SECOND APPARITION
“MY IMMACULATE HEART WILL BE YOUR REFUGE AND THE WAY THAT WILL LEAD YOU TO GOD.”
As soon as Jacinta, Francisco and I had finished praying the Rosary [that day of June 13, 1917], with a number of other people who were present, we saw once more the flash reflecting the light which was approaching (which we called lightning). The next moment, Our Lady was there on the holm oak, exactly the same as in May. “What do you want of me?” I asked. “I wish you to come here on the 13th of next month, to pray the Rosary every day, and to learn to read. Later, I will tell you what I want.” I asked for the cure of a sick person. “If he is converted, he will be cured during the year.” “I would like to ask you to take us to Heaven.” “Yes, I will take Jacinta and Francisco soon. But you are to stay here some time longer, Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.” “Am I to stay here alone?” I asked, sadly. “No, my daughter. Are you suffering a great deal? Do not lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.” As Our Lady spoke these last words, she opened her hands and for the second time, she communicated to us the rays of that immense light. We saw ourselves in this light, as it were, immersed in God. Jacinta and Francisco seemed to be in that part of the light which rose towards Heaven, and I in that which was poured out on the earth. In front of the palm of Our Lady’s right hand was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it. We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation. You know now, Your Excellency, what we referred to when we said that Our Lady had revealed a secret to us in June. At the time, Our Lady did not tell us to keep it a secret, but we felt moved to do so by God.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, Mary and the disciples of the early Church 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead on the first Easter Sunday, let us open our own hearts, as Mary did, to the grace of the Holy Spirit, Who in Baptism and Confirmation has also overshadowed us, and connected us to the new Life and Love of Jesus. May we always reflect that same love to all the people God places on our paths. Let us want all people to be saints, to be brothers and sisters in Christ! O Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!
In the loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Fr. Gregor

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TWO NEWEST-ORDAINED PRIESTS!!!
Bishop Daniel Conlon on May 27th ordained two new priests for our Diocese of Joliet. He stands front and center, and on his right is Fr. John Honiotes, originally from St. Mary’s Nativity Parish, Joliet, IL, and on Bishop’s left is Fr. Mark Bernhard, originally from Elwood, IL, with his home Parish being St. Joseph in Manhattan. God bless them in their new priestly ministry!!!
At Pentecost, Jesus “armed” his disciples with the Holy Spirt and specific instructions as to what we are to do: forgive. In sending the Holy Spirit, Christ makes his mission our mission. It is a great miracle that God chooses to make us real participants in His plan.
Is there someone you know that needs temporary assistance? Please call our Helpline for information. "......For security purposes, return calls are made from a "private/blocked" line not recognized by caller ID's."

closer to Jesus? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Legion of Mary just may be for

Totus Tuus will be here at St. Andrew the Apostle June 18-23, 2017!
The Totus Tuus parish summer catechetical youth program is a week-long “parish mission” for Catholic youth entering grades 1st through 12th. It is dedicated to the proclamation of the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through
evangelization, catechesis, apologetics, Christian witness, the sacraments, Marian devotion, and Eucharistic worship. Totus Tuus aims to assist parents and parishes in the evangelizing and catechizing of their youth by supplementing the work they are already doing. The methodology, structure, content, and enthusiasm of Totus Tuus is concerned not only with teaching the faith, but also igniting the hearts of the team members and young people. The result has been the formation of youth and young adults who continue to dedicate themselves to the Church’s mission of evangelization.

LEGION OF MARY HOME ENTHRONEMENTS
All Parishioners of St. Andrew the Apostle will have an opportunity to have their homes enthroned with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Legion of Mary will host this enthronement at no cost to you, it’s absolutely free! All you have to do is come to the back of the Church after Mass on the week-end of June 10th/11th. The members of the legion will be available to you. Pope St. John Paul II in a talk given to families of the world said, “Always keep your eyes on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, King and center of all hearts. From Him you will learn the great lesson of love, of goodness, of sac-rifice, of piety, so necessary for every Christian family.”
Also, there are twelve promises given to St.
Margaret Mary by Our Lord Jesus for those devoted to His Sacred Heart.
1. I will give them all the graces necessary for
their state of life. 2. I will establish peace in their families. 3. I will console them in all their troubles. 4. They shall find in My Heart an assured
refuge during life and especially at the hour of death.
5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source of an infinite ocean of mercy.
7. Tepid souls shall become fervent. 8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great
perfection. 9. I will bless the homes in which an image of
My Heart shall be exposed and honored. 10. I will give to priests the power of touching
the most hardened hearts. 11. Those who propagate this devotion shall
have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
12. The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under My displeasure, nor without receiv-ing their Sacraments; My Heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.

MYTHS AND TRUTHS The following are myths about divorce, annulment, and remarriage in the Catholic Church. (Please note the word annulment is commonly used jargon, but the proper church term is declaration of nullity.)
MYTH #4 Divorced Catholics who remarry without an
annulment may not register in the parish, attend Mass, or participate in Church activities.
TRUTH A divorced and remarried Catholic is still Catholic,
belongs to a parish, and participates in Church activities.

Marriage preparation is a six month process of prayer, reflection and study. Couples work with both the presider and a sponsor couple through this process. Please note that this six month period of preparation is essential.
ORDERS Those seeking assistance in discerning a call to ordained ministry are encouraged to call the parish offices.
SACRAMENTS OF HEALING RECONCILIATION

ANOINTING Anointing of the Sick is offered through seasonal services, and always by request. If hospitalized, please immediately seek anointing from the Catholic chaplain. I would like to have my house blessed.
