PASTOR SANTIAGO IRIARTE Greetings from Ridgecrest: Occasionally is good to talk about death. We don’t want to die, but we are going to die. Death scares us. Children and youth hardly think about death. As we get older, the more we think about death. I the seminary, they taught us to pre-pare for death. When we lay on the bed, this should remind us of death. This should cause us to pray. In the past, in paintings, saints were depicted with skull, reminding them that death was inevitable. So, what we can do, in order not to fear death? First, we must live a good life. A good life is a life of faith, following the commandments and teachings of the church. If we have a good life, then we will have a good death. If we live a good life, then we will be truly at peace. If we live a good life, then we will be joyful. If we live a good life, then we will not fear death. Instead, we will be prepared and ready. As a matter of fact, saints anticipated death. They did not want to live any longer. They were ready. One example was Saint Monica. Her desired was for her son Augustine to become a Christian Catholic. After fifteen years of tears and prayers, Augustine was baptized. He became one of the greatest saints in the Church. After this, Saint Monica did not understand why she was still living. Her greatest desire and hope had been answered. She died nine years later. Therefore, the key to death is living a good life, and to live the Gospel whole heartily. May God bless you!
Saludos desde Ridgecrest: De vez en cuando es bueno hablar de la muerte. No queremos morir, pero vamos a morir. La muerte nos asus-ta. Los niños y jóvenes apenas piensan en la muerte. A medida que envejecemos, más pen-samos en la muerte. Cuando estuve en el semi-nario, nos enseñaron a prepararnos para la muerte. Cuando nos acostamos en la cama,
esto debería recordarnos la muerte. Esto debería hacernos orar. En el pasado, en las pinturas, los santos eran repre-sentados con calavera, recordándoles que la muerte era inevitable. Un ejemplo fue Santa Mónica. Su deseo era que su hijo Agustín se convirtiera en un católico cristiano. Después de quince años de lágrimas y ora-ciones, Agustín fue bautizado. Se convirtió en uno de los santos más grandes de la Iglesia. Después de esto, Santa Mónica no entendió por qué todavía vivía. Su mayor deseo y esperanza habían sido respondidos. Murió nueve años después. Por lo tanto, la clave de la muerte es vivir una buena vida para vivir el Evangelio de todo corazón. ¡Que Dios los bendiga!

ST. ANN OUTREACH FOOD PANTRY The Pantry is now open with volunteers to give out food on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. We are in need of the following Items: Pasta, canned tuna, Soup, fruit, vegetables, chili, ravioli, chicken cereal, boxed or dry milk and juice. NEW ALTAR SERVER TRAINING Come assist Father in serving our God and church! The training is for all who have been baptized, received recon-ciliation, and who have received their 1st Holy Communion on the Catholic Church (3rd grade and older). Hispanic Community Mass “Lord of the Miracles”
Come celebrate with us a special mass for “El Señor de Los Milagros” (Lord of the Miracle). It is a popular Crist original from Michoacán, Mexico and is venerated in many countries around the world for his miracles. The mass will be on: Sept. 12 at 12:00 pm. It will include a traditional Aztec Dance group because dancing is the way this Christ is honored.

THURSDAY HOLY EUCARISTIC AND PRIESHTHOOD DAY
Traditionally Thursday has been considered as a day dedicated to the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood, since the two sacraments were born on Holy Thursday. For this reason, every Thursday is as if it were an extension of that first Thursday where the Lord instituted the sacrament of love and the sacrament of service that are oriented toward each other. Let us celebrate every Thursday with a special prayer for the holiness of our priests and for an increased love for the Holy Eucharist.
O Jesus who has instituted the priesthood to continue on earth the divine work of saving souls
protects your priests especially that of our parish in the refuge of your SACRED HEART.
Keep their CONSECRATED HANDS, which daily touch your SACRED BODY,
and keep their lips stained with your PRECIOUS BLOOD .
Let their Hearts be preserved pure, marked with the sublime seal of the PRIESTHOOD,
and do not allow the spirit of the world to contaminate them. Increase the number of your apostles,
and may your Holy Love protect them from all danger. Bless their work and fatigues,
and that as a fruit of His apostolate they may obtain the salvation of many souls
who are His comfort here on earth and His eternal crown in Heaven. Amen
