Message from the desk of the Pastor

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Greetings during this Easter Season! It seems that even nature is rejoicing in new life and beauty.

Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday. We are to bear a faithful witness to the Gospel by the example of our lives.

The first reading tells of the Apostles working many signs and wonders among the people in Jerusalem. The second reading tells of the per-sonal price John the Apostle paid for preaching the Gospel message. In the Gospel, Jesus invites Thomas to put his finger in his hand and his side so Thomas may believe he has truly risen.

It is easy to make the mistake that believing was easier for those who saw Jesus than it is for us. The Gospels show that there were many people who saw Jesus and yet didn’t come to have faith in him. Seeing is not necessarily believing. The act of faith involves a decision to be-lieve.

During life, faith is an on-going struggle and there are moments of crisis when our minds are darkened and our vision of God is blurred by clouds of doubt. There is nothing comfortable about believing as it challenges us to change our lives as a result of our encounter with Jesus. The risen Christ is present in our midst as much as he was with the early Christians and we are called to live our lives in his name. It is through believing that we enter into a relationship with Christ and enjoy the new life which he offers us.

Having overcome his crisis of faith, Thomas went on to bear courageous witness to Jesus, and became one of the greatest missionaries of the early Church. According to tradition, he brought the Gospel to Persia, Syria and India, where he was martyred. Thomas was the first of the Apostles to die for the faith.

Like the Apostles, as believers, each of us has the obligation and solemn duty to share the good news of salvation and that Christ is alive in our midst.

Do you know someone who needs to hear about Jesus Christ? If you do, without hesitation or delay, go and tell them so they might come to know the joy we have found in Jesus. May God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph

Come to me, all who are weary and bur-dened, and I will give you rest. Take my

yoke upon you and learn from me, For, I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For, my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 When you get so caught up in your life, you don't know who to turn to especially when you have a lot of burdens on your chest. God wants us to come to him when we feel that way. You have to learn to let go of your struggles and let God catch you.

Let God hold you and rest in his love. Don't think that God won't catch you when you fall because he will. God will be your home. When you get a chance, listen to this song called “Make Your Home in Me” by Ben Walther. ~~Kylie

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

Come join us 3:00 to 4:00 pm this Sunday, April 3rd as we celebrate the tre-mendous gift of Divine Mercy from our Lord Je-sus Christ. Pope St. John Paul II designated the Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday. In thankfulness for this won-derful gift of Mercy we will have one hour of Eu-charist Adoration, pray the Divine Mercy Chap-

let, the Rosary and have quiet time to medi-tate. Praise God for St. Faustina for being such a faithful witness for the world, giving us the message of His Divine Mercy. To receive a Plenary Indulgence for Divine Mercy Sunday we must go to confession within a week before, or after, the Sunday of Divine Mercy, attend Mass, receive Holy Communion, give reverence to His Divine Mercy, and do at least one Act of Mercy.

Jesus told St. Faustina, Jesus desires Divine Mercy to be celebrated and reverenced throughout the world. Jesus is Merciful and He desires that we be channels of His Mercy.

Any questions call Cecilia at 922-8783.

Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5) May your priest have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priest be holy, filled with the fire of your love seek-ing nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
