St. Anthony Revere September 22, 2019

News from the Wheel-House

Hello Everybody, How are you? I hope and pray that everything is good with you! After a short visit to India I came back on Wednesday Sept. 11, 2019. I did have a great and blessed trip. The wedding was fabulous. I was able to see all my relatives and friends in one place at the wedding party. It was wonderful.

This year, in the month of February my diocese in India was blessed with a new bishop. His name is Most Rev. Bishop Stephen. When I went to India for the wedding, I was able to visit him for the first time. It was truly a fantastic one. He asked me to give you his thanks and appreciation for the generous and loving support you are offer-ing to us and our diocese in India. He also sends his prayers, love and greetings to you all.

In my absence Fr. Heniston had to work a lot but as always he has done a great job. We are really lucky and blessed to have him. I sincerely thank him along with Fr. George, Maryann, the staffs of St. Anthony’s and of course you all for keepinh our parish going.

Last Sunday Sept. 15, 2019 at 10 o’clock Catechetical Mass we had the blessings and commission of our faith formation teachers. This year we have gotten fifteen faith formation teachers along with our committed faith formation director Ms. Donna Felzani. I am so excited about the big number of teachers and pray to have the same excitement and joy with the number of students in our parish faith formation classes. So, please enroll yourchildren. It is the way to usher them in the blessings of the kingdom of God. I thank and ap-preciate all who have done it already.

On Sept 19, 2019 Thursday, we had a “Safe environment Training Program (Protecting God’s children) in our parish. We will have another training program of the same on Sept. 29, 2019 Sunday. All the extraordinary ministers of parish are required to attend this program and obtain the certificate. It is a requirement of ourArchdi-ocese of Boston.

As you all know our parish is getting ready for a big event, “Mar-riage Con-validation Ceremony” on Oct. 4, 2019. Our north region bishop Most Rev. Mark O’Connell is going to grace us. Kindly pray that it may be a blessed and successful one. I also encourage and invite the couples in our parish who need to validate their marriage, to contact the rectory and get prepared for the joy of this upcoming ceremony.

Our archdiocese of Boston is opening up a program for the discern-ment of becoming a permanent deacon. St. Maria Goretti Parish in Lynnfield, MA is hosting Session 1 of a 3 session Permanent Diacon-ate Inquirers Program September 30th, 2019 at 7pm. For any ques-tions and concerns please call the rectory. Thank you.Yes, I don’t hear the bells for Macaroni and Meat Balls but the call to hold the wheel of St. Anthony’s!Your administrator,Fr. Xavier.

WHAT THE DEACON IS

The deacon should be a creative leader - an “inspirator” - one who gradually initiates a meaningful response of loving service from the community to those who are in spiritual or material need. Ordained PRIMARILY to be a minister of charity, he will hold himself accountable for such a service before God and the Church. He will draw his strength and his continuing motivation from the Holy Eucharist where- he is transformed by his recep-tion of the Body and Blood of Christ.

This faculty is to be exercised with at least the presumed consent of the rector of the church. Preaching to religious in their churches or oratories requires the permission of the competent superior (C.765),May distribute Holy Communion and bring Holy Communion to the sick. TWENTY FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Group Marriage Validation Ceremony

Will take place here at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Friday October 4, 2019 at 6:00 PM. Are you or some-one close to you married but not with the blessing of the Church? Would you like to be married by a Bish-op? Bishop mark O’Connell has organized a group wedding for those in the North Region of the Archdi-ocese of Boston: The ceremony will be designed for couples not married in the Church to validate their marriages before him. During the wedding ceremony, each couple will say their vows separately before the bishop and their two witnesses. To sign up, each of the couples should endorsed by their parish as free to marry and adequately prepared. Please register ahead of time with the Office of the Regional Bishop – North Region, 978-531-1013. There will be no cost to the couples. Dress as you are comfortable. The num-ber of guests allowed will be determined by the number of couples registered.

God Bless Bishop Mark O’Connell

Marriage in the Catholic Church, also called matrimony, is the “covenant by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life and which is ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of off-spring”, and which “has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament be-tween the baptized.”
