CORPUS CHRISTI + BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST ~ This feast today focuses sharply on Jesus Christ as the Bread of Life and Cup of Salvation. This feast of the Body and Blood of Christ is the central mystery of our faith as a sacramental community. The reason we gather each week as Church is to share at the Table of the Lord – to eat and drink of the Lord. The readings today open up many levels of meaning as does the Eucharist itself. Jesus spoke to the crowds and healed those
who needed to be cured. As the day was drawing to a close, the issue of so many people and so little food came up. Jesus told the disciples to “give them some food yourselves.” Clearly, they could not. So Jesus, as generously and lovingly as he did everything, fed the multitude – the men alone numbered about 5,000. When all was said and done, all were satisfied and they also filled 12 extra baskets with leftovers. What a ‘waste-full’ miracle of generous love; more than they could eat; more than they needed! Jesus was forever giving of Himself. He was forever spending His time, His life, His energy, His mind, His heart, His words. The more He gave, the more people wanted, and the more He emptied himself for them. Paul, in his First Letter to the Corinthians, reveals that Jesus’ example and teaching was not in vain. The disciples did finally get it. Here we are, after Pentecost, celebrating the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. Paul’s words are our words and they couldn’t be truer: “I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you. Do this in remembrance of me.” The gathering of the community of the Lord each Sunday is more than obligation. It is the profound sharing of the Lord. We eat and drink of Him. We become what we receive. We imitate and follow His example. We open up the meaning of pouring out our lives. We learn generosity of love and giving. We see the fruit of our love, it’s over abundance; and we too gather up the fragments. The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ is so much more than ‘just going to receive communion’. It is becoming one with the Lord and sharing in his life and being transformed into the very feast that we share!

Greeting St. Bernard's Community! St. Bernard's Summer festivities are
in season. The Luau Committee has
scheduled our St. Bernard's Annual
"Luau" for August 17, 2019. Please mark your calendar!
This year, along with our delicious Hawaiian menu and
entertainment, we plan to add a "Silent Auction" and the
committee has decided to return the annual raffle ticket
sale to the Luau fundraiser.
The tickets will be available for distribution on the weekend
of June 29-30, The proceeds will go towards the Church
floor. Please pick up a book or two, each book consists of
25 tickets @$2.00 each. We have exactly 6 weeks to sell
300 books. The success of this event depends on you.
There will be a person after all the Masses distributing ticket
books next Saturday and Sunday, June 29/30. Thank You!

This is a World Wide Collection done by all
churches to offer to Pope Francis. A fund
by which he is able to offer financial
assistance throughout the world as a sign
of the churches charitable giving in t imes of
emergency and great need. If everyone gives even a
litt le, this will surely be a sizable gift we give to the
Pope. Please be generous on next week’s collection!
Corpus Christi + CUERPO Y LA SANGRE DE CRISTO ~ La fiesta de hoy se centra claramente en Jesucristo como el Pan de Vida y Cáliz de Salvación. Esta Fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo es el misterio central de nuestra fe como comunidad sacramental. La razón por la que nos reunimos cada semana como Iglesia es para compartir a la Mesa del Señor - para comer y beber del Señor. Las lecturas de hoy se abren a muchos niveles de significado como lo hace la Eucaristía misma. Jesús habló a las multitudes, y sanó a los
que tenían necesidad de ser curados. Al caer la tarde, habiendo tanta gente y tan poca comida se suscitó un problema. Jesús dijo a los discípulos: "Denles ustedes ce comer" Obviamente no podían. Así que Jesús, generosa y amorosamente como hacía todo, alimentó a la multitud - solo los hombres sumaban alrededor de 5,000. Cuando todo estaba dicho y hecho, y todos quedaron satisfechos, de lo que sobró se llenaron 12 canastos. Qué milagro de derroche de amor tan generoso; más de lo que podían comer; más de lo necesario! Jesús siempre dándose a sí mismo. Siempre pasando Su tiempo, Su vida, Su energía, su mente, Su corazón, Sus palabras. Entre más daba, más quería la gente y Él más se entregaba a ellos. Pablo, en su primera carta a los Corintios revela que el ejemplo y la enseñanza de Jesús no fue en vano. Los discípulos finalmente lo entendieron. Aquí estamos, después de Pentecostés, celebrando la fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Las palabras de Pablo son nuestras palabras y no podían ser más ciertas: "Yo recibí del Señor lo que les he transmitido. Hagan esto en memoria mía". Cuando la Comunidad del Señor se reúne cada domingo es mucho más que una obligación. Es el compartir al Señor mismo. Comemos y bebemos de Él. Nos convertimos en lo que recibimos. Imitamos y seguimos su ejemplo. Damos paso a lo que significa el vaciar nuestras propias vidas. Aprendemos generosidad de amor y de entrega. Vemos el fruto de nuestro amor, hay sobreabundancia, y nosotros también recogemos los sobrantes. La Fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo es mucho más que ‘sólo recibir la

Las festividades de verano en San
Bernardo están de temporada. El Comité
del Luau ha programado nuestro ‘Luau’
anual de San Bernardo para el 17 de Agosto, 2019. Marque su calendario!
Este año, junto con nuestro delicioso menú y entretenimiento hawaianos, planeamos agregar una "Subasta en Silencio" y el comité ha decidido devolver la venta anual de boletos de la rifa a la recaudación de los Fondos del Luau.
Los boletos estarán disponibles para su distribución el fin
de semana del 29 y 30 de Junio. Los ingresos se
destinarán al piso de la Iglesia. Por favor, recoja uno o dos
libros, cada libro consta de 25 boletos a $2.00 cada uno.
