Saints and Special Observances Sunday: Pentecost Sunday Monday: Ninth Week in Ordinary Time St. Boniface Tuesday: St. Norbert Friday: St. Ephrem Saturday: Blessed Virgin Mary

Scripture Reflection Last week we heard that, following the Ascension, the disciples, Mary, and other followers of the Lord retreated to the upper room in prayer. This week we hear that, while praying in that room, the Holy Spirit comes upon them. Jesus’ post-Resurrection promise, recounted in today’s Gospel, is fulfilled: the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus’ followers. Saint Paul tells us that all of us, in some way, are given gifts of the Holy Spirit, gifts that can be used to spread the Good News. Today is one of the Church’s greatest festivals. Let us carry the re-frain of the responsorial psalm with us throughout the coming week: “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth!” (Psalm 104:30). Our Family Prayer Loving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Moth-er, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and hu-man dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. Amen.

Update Your Information for SCS’s Guide Book & Directory Does our Church database have accurate information for YOUR family? Have you changed your phone number during the past year? Have you moved or are preparing to move? Are all of your children still living at home? Are they included in your membership record? Do you want your record published? Please call the parish office at 835-9343 if there are any changes that we need to make to your family’s record, so that our new Guide Bok & Directory is accurate. Thank you for your help!

Addition of Divine Mercy Candle Dedication The candles flanking the Divine Mercy image in the Reconcilia-tion Alcove are available for dedication just like the sanctuary candles in the Church and Adoration Chapel. You can dedicate these candles in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a spe-cial event. The cost of the two candles is $12. Contact Frances Skiffington, [email protected] or 834-1709, for information. New Votive Candles by Our Lady of Fatima There is a new votive candle stand by the Our Lady of Fatima shrine. The cost to light a large candle, which will burn for six days, is $4; and for a small candle, which will burn for four hours, $0.50. Please use the candle envelopes provided and place the envelope in the poor box.

Accurate Guide Book & Directory Information oes our Church database have accurate information for YOUR family? Have you changed your phone number during the past year? Guide Book/Directory Advertising Available We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the church. This book will contain everything pertinent to our church: the various ministries, organizations, committees, activities, functions, and events, plus a complete directory of all members. This book is being provided and di-rect-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Church Office. Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory ad-vertiser over a non-advertiser. It “will pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.

In Sympathy… Please pray for the repose of the soul of Eddie Daigle. Eternal rest grant unto Eddie, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
