Dear families,
This Lent we will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a
faith-in-action program that will help you experience
Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people
in need around the world.
As we, the global Church, prepare for the World Meeting of Families 2015 in
Philadelphia this fall, it is especially appropriate to come together in prayer as a
family this Lent. Your cardboard CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten Calendar are
great tools to guide your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Read these materials together and consider what you will give up for Lent as a
family or as individuals. Be sure to write your goals on the side of your CRS
Rice Bowl.
Your Lenten Calendar has brief activities for each day of Lent, Stories of Hope
from people around the world and recipes for simple meatless meals. Consider
reading the Lenten Calendar as a family each day at dinner. Try one or more of
the recipes for a meatless Friday dinner and be sure to watch the CRS Rice
Bowl Global Kitchen videos to learn how to prepare each meal.
Be sure to visit crsricebowl.org to view videos of people whose lives are
touched by your support of CRS Rice Bowl. You can also find fun activities for
your family. And download the CRS Rice Bowl app to receive daily reflections
right on your phone—and to track your Lenten sacrifices.
We will be collecting your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent, so stay tuned to
learn more.
Thank you for using CRS Rice Bowl with your family this Lent.
Sincerely,
Fr. Frank Miller

“Lent is a fitting time for self-denial; we would do well to ask ourselves what we can give up in order to help and enrich others by our own poverty. - Pope Francis

Synod of Bishops, October 2015
Last year Pope Francis asked the bishops of the Church to
consult the local churches throughout the world in prepara-
tion for the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops that was held
last October 2014 on the theme of Pastoral Challenges to the Family in the Con-
text of Evangelization. Once again this year, the Holy Father has asked for con-
sultation in all the dioceses of the world in preparation for the Ordinary Synod
of Bishops to be held in October 2015.
Our parish will be having a meeting, Sunday, February 22 at 7:00 pm in
the Club Room. If you cannot make our local parish meeting, or wish to offer
your own ideas and thoughts to Bishop Folda as he prepares his report from the
Diocese of Fargo, please visit www.fargodiocese.org/synod2015 to review the
preparatory questions from the Holy See. All responses need to be sent into the
Chancellor’s Office by March 10, 2015.
Knights of Columbus Scholarships - Misty Epperson, Justin Leier, Cordell Wagner, & Kali Weinmann recently received $150.00 in scholarships offered by the Harvey Knights of Columbus. This year’s senior class has been sent out an application to apply for these scholarships. The application
must be completed and returned to Steve Kourajian by March 1, 2015. If you did not receive an application in the mail, please contact Steve at 324-4456. Scholarships will be awarded late in March and will be paid out upon successful com-pletion of one semester of college or vocational school.
Stewardship Moment February 22, 2015 First Sunday of Lent
“After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God…” – Mark 1:14
Do you ever think about how difficult it must have been for Jesus to come into Galilee, knowing that John had just been arrested for teaching the same message that Jesus was proclaiming. It must have taken great love and trust for Jesus to do what the Father had sent Him here on earth to do. In the same way, following a life of stewardship takes great love and trust from us. We must be willing to surrender completely to God, trusting that God will always give us all that we need to fulfill His plan for us.
Prayer Backup for CCD Youth Education and Teachers.
Every Wednesday during the school year, from 6:30-7 pm
in the church, the Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by
silent prayer. Sponsored by the Catholic Daughters.
Everyone Welcome!
Real religion is a way of life, not a white cloak to be wrapped around us on the Sabbath and then cast aside into the 6-day closet of unconcern.
March Meeting: Monday, March 2nd, 2015
Women’s Stations of the Cross @ 7:10 Meeting to follow
Dear Catholic Daughters,
“God of the least, may my treatment of those in need improve this Lent in
concrete ways. May I love them as I love You.” This is a prayer from
Fr. Kavanaugh’s Daily Lenten Devotion book. I pray that we can really com-
mit ourselves this Lent to love “the least of these” as we’ve loved Him.
Our Religious Articles Team of Liza Case, Ruth Rutten and Anna
Schneibel have ordered items for our Youth and Adults to be given away dur-
ing Lent. Thank You for this project and your willingness to lead us through
Lent.
At our last meeting we voted on donations to our Missions; we gave $100
to our National Projects-Support for Our Aging Religious, Habitat for Humani-
ty, Smile Train, Disaster Fund, and Holy Cross Family Ministries. We pledged
$200 to be distributed to 9 National Charities and then $330 to our State Chari-
ty, Project Ignite Light. We are also giving our three Seminarians $150 each.
Because of YOUR Unity and Charity in baking and cooking and organizing-
we are able to give to these worthy causes. Thank You, Thank You, Thank
You, one and all!
State convention is coming up at the end of April. We are entitled to 4
Delegates! I have reserved two rooms at the Ramada, be thinking about going.
Our State Regent, Kathy Kennedy, will be running again and that means our
dear Fr. Miller will be State Chaplain also. Let’s show them how proud we are
of them and the State Court by attending!
Our Prayer Backup for Education is off to a slow start, but is ongoing! As
stated in last week’s bulletin, we meet at 6:30 on Wed. evenings, say the Chap-
let of Divine Mercy for our Young people involved in CCD, for their Teachers
and for Amber as she coordinates the program. The remaining time is spent in
silent prayer and adoration. The half hour goes VERY quickly. Some of you
may be praying during this time at home- Thank You!
The St. Patty’s Nursing Home Party will be Monday, March 16th @ 1:30
pm. Come and help serve, assist with BINGO and show your smiling Irish
Eyes, or your Hearty German Laugh, or your Quiet Norwegian Ways- just
come!
Remember to keep your Confirmation student in prayer!
