DECEMBER 25, 2016 CHRISTMAS - THE BIRTH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
O God, who gladden us year by year as we wait in hope for our redemption
grant that, just as we joyfully wel-come your Only Begotten Son as our Redeemer, we may also merit to face him confidently when he comes again as our Judge. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Stewardship Moment December 25, 2016 – The Nativity of the Lord (Christmas)
“And the Word become flesh.” - John 1:14 Jesus is God’s ultimate gift of love to us. The countless other blessings that God showers upon us are nothing compared to the gift of His only Son. The
only appropriate way for us to respond to such generous love is with our own generous love. When we dedicate our lives to sharing all the gifts God has placed in our hands, the peace of Christ truly will control our hearts and we will know Christmas joy every day.
Who is Cursillo for? Any practicing Catholics who feel they are at a time in their life when they would like to learn more about our beautiful Catholic faith and deepen and strengthen their own personal faith life.
What is expected if I choose to attend? Come to the weekend with an open heart and an open mind. Enjoy all that has been prepared for you by others who have attended Cursillo before. Listen to talks on subjects such as “Ideals” - What are my priorities in life, “Holiness” - How can I live my life more for Christ - live a richer, more meaningful life. “Study” - Ideas to help us continue to learn about God and our faith. “Environment” - our workplaces, our social groups, etc. to be more Christ like. These are just a few of the topics discussed on the weekend. Also, talks are giv-en by members of the clergy on the Sacraments - especially interesting for those of us who have not studied about the sacraments since our early days of religious education. The weekend also includes meditations, table discussions and much, much more!
Do you think you might enjoy and benefit from attending a Cursillo Week-end? Do you have questions and concerns about attending a weekend? If you do, ask your parish priest, or anyone that has made a Cursillo.

Let us as a congregation be reminded that all are wel-come. Judgments are left at the door for there is no room for it in God’s house.
You are a wonderful mother. I hope to see you again next week. I pray you have a better day.
Sincerely, The Mom of three next to you

anxiety and liberate me from my fears. Amen
Sr. Mary Seraphin Beck, OSF Attending: Franciscan Sisters of Christ the Divine Teacher, Davenport, IA From: St. Therese the Little Flower, Rugby, ND
1. Who was the most influential person to you as a child? My grandpa Bob since he has a strong faith and spent time in adoration at 3 am. If he could do that, I felt inspired to do more with my faith.
2. Did you have any pets as a child? What kind? Growing up we had two dogs: Cissy was a mutt with springer lab in her and I was 3 years old. Cissy could clear a 6-foot fence. Then we got Angel when I was 10 years old and she was a mutt too. We adopted both dogs from the pound.
3. What did you do during the summertime as a child? We would visit our grandparents. This meant a 9-10 hour ride in the car, to spend two weeks in Billings MT, helping grandma at the Montana Mills, and going up to Red Lodge, and spending time in Yellowstone National Park.
4. What would people you know find surprising about you as a teen? I loved to sit on our tire swing in the back yard and just listen to the beauty of nature that God had created.
5. In what ways have your parents influenced you the most? My mom always encouraged my sister and me to consider religious life every time we talked about our future life. By the time God called me, my mom knew before I did and it felt wonderful knowing that she supported me and helped me to find my order.
6. What is your most memorable travel experience? In the winter of 1996, temps -35 degrees, my Dad took my sister and I to Florida. While we were visit-ing we learned that that a shuttle was taking off from Kennedy Space Center. So we got up at 2 am and watched the shuttle take off at 4 am, we were outside in a field and we saw the sky light up as the shuttle headed in to space.
7. If you could possess one super-human power, what would it be? Flying.
8. What is something that you’d love to be great at? Singing.
9. What is one lesson you’ve learned in life? When you make plans always remember to check in with God for He has something in mind for you that is way better than your imagination.
10. What is something you’ve learned about the faith since entering for-mation? That we can be a pen in God’s hands, helping to show the world the light of Christ.

Mom, Dad, - have you been here? Most of us have. Read and pass it along, fold it up and mail it to some-one you know who may need a bit of encouragement as they wonder to themselves, “why bother?” This is a re-print from St. Patrick’s Parish, Elkhorn, NE.
We received the following letter from a Parishioner who attended 9:30 Mass this past Sunday. It speaks to all par-ents who sometimes struggle with being in church or think they are a distraction. Please know, we are so happy you are here! The author has given permission for us to share:
To the Mother with four little ones in church on Sunday morning, thank you. Thank you for allowing us to witness what a wonderful mother you are.
Thank you for allowing us to squeeze in next to you, thus trapping you in the middle of the pew, no place a lone, mother-of-four ever wants to be trapped in. There’s no easy exit option when a child melts down. No way to snag a child from the aisle as they return from giving their offering to Father.
In the middle of the middle pew, you feel under a microscope. I know, I’ve been there. When your child lets out a wail because the other child took something from him, you feel the eyes turn your way. When the crayons are strewn down the pew and you can’t gather them up in a neatly confined area, or the snacks leak and spill and you wonder who around you is noticing and taking note. I don’t.
What I notice is you’re here. You got up, got dressed, and managed to get four little ones to church. It is much easier to stay home.
During those trying times at Mass when it feels like yours is the only one screaming, know that she’s not. When you realize you’ve missed all of the read-ings and more than half of the homily in effort to keep the peace and you ques-tion why you even bother coming. That you’re not getting anything out of it and certainly your children aren’t. Know that they are. And so are you.
For them, they learn that church is important, even if it’s the most basic lesson of being there every Sunday no matter how hard it is. They pick up little things; prayers, hymns, routine, community, acceptance. For you, you may not get that wonderful feeling of your cup running over, or God’s grace touching you; but you get my support, my encouragement, my sincere prayers of peace.
One day, it’ll get easier. One day, you’ll be in my shoes and see the Mom sitting next to you trying to keep her cool in a hot and crowded church while your own children sit quietly. It’ll come. With time. But only if you keep coming back. Please, please come back.
Please come back every Sunday and remind us all of God’s love. He doesn’t want us to hide our children, he wants us to bring them forth. He wants to see them in His house on the good days and bad. He wants the congregation to hear them; whether it’s tears of frustration at one, hesitant prayers at six, or in awe of receiving communion at eight.
