VISITS TO OUR HOMEBOUND PARISHIONERS
As a community of faith, we are called to minister to each other. Both St. John the Evangelist and St. Paul parishes are greatly blessed to have a group of volunteers who have graciously agreed to form a ministry of outreach to our parishioners who are homebound, or who may temporarily find it difficult to attend Mass due to illness or surgery.
If you or someone you know is in this situation (or may be in the future) and might like a visit and an opportunity to receive Holy Communion at home, please contact:
Kelly Meraw [email protected] or Anne Mears [email protected]
ORDINATION TO THE TRANSITIONAL DIACONATE
We are pleased to announce that our Seminarian, Matthew Norwood, has received his Call for Orders and will be ordained
to the Transitional Diaconate on June 8, 2019 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. This day marks a definitive step before he is ordained to the priesthood in May of 2020. On Sunday, June 9th, Matthew will serve as a Deacon for the first time and preach the homily at the St. Paul 9:00am Family Mass. Please keep Matthew in your prayers and join us for this special Mass on June 9th at St. Paul's. Mass will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall to which all are invited.
We welcome the following children who were recently received into the community of God’s family through the holy waters of
baptism.

COLLABORATIVE NEWS
ST. JOHN-ST. PAUL SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
Today, we celebrate "Good Shepherd Sunday" when we reflect on the care and
love of Jesus for us. Your gifts to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul have shown that you are indeed the disciple of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, as it will bring your love to those who live in fear and doubt, loneliness and dread. Our Society assisted a person in need this week with help towards a rent bill and food assistance. The Society of SVDP responds to emergency situations involving families and individuals in need of financial assistance. If you live in Wellesley or parts of Newton and need our support we are here to help you. Please contact either parish office (St. John the Evangelist at 781-235-0045 or St. Paul at 781-235-1060). All information is kept strictly confidential! Thank you and may God bless you. Our next meeting of the St. John - St. Paul Society of St. Vincent de Paul is Thursday May 16 at 6:45pm at St. John Parish Center.
All are welcome.
VETERANS MASS AND RECEPTION 4:00PM SATURDAY, MAY 18
All veterans and their families are cordially invited to attend a Mass and celebration in their honor at St. Paul Church. The Mass and reception are being hosted by a high school Girl Scout, Cecilia Rose, with the intent of honoring our servicemen and women. We hope you can attend!
Please RSVP to Anne Mears at [email protected]
Saint John School students celebrated May Crowning during a beautiful ceremony and procession devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Miss Dougherty's second grade class wore their First Communion finest and crowned Mary with a beautiful floral crown, while all of our students processed into church with flowers to dedicate in her honor. All of our students enjoy taking part in this cherished tradition. We would also like to wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms!
SUNDAY 5PM MASS
We will be celebrating our graduating seniors at Mass on May 19 at 5pm at St. John's! All seniors are invited to attend. Bring your family and friends so we can all celebrate YOU and the big accomplishment that graduation is!
Sunday, May 19 at St. John Church is the last 5pm Mass for the School Year 2018-2019. The Mass will resume in the Fall.
Please join us for the last Mass of the year.

The Collaborative is pleased to recognize the following students who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation this month. Students prepared for Confirmation over a two year period. Each performed many hours of service to their communities, attended Mass and classes and deepened their relationship with God through group and personal activities. With the reception of this sacrament, these students completed their initiation into the Catholic Church. We welcome them!

WE NEED YOUR HELP…
Our parish operates on a fiscal year that begins on July 1
and ends on June 30. Our Offertory and Annual Appeal
collections account for close to 90% of the parish’s total
revenue. This revenue funds all clergy and lay staff,
utilities, building and grounds maintenance, as well as
the many ministries and programs that are so vital to our
parish. Unfortunately at this time donations are lower than they need to be. As you can see in the Financial
Update section, we have only received 78% of the annual budgeted amount, which leaves us just under two months to raise over $105,000.
Please take a moment to reflect on the role that St.
John’s plays in your life and the life of your family. The
strength and vitality of our parish community comes from
our collective contributions - large and small, monetary
and through service. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. As always, offertory donations may be
placed in the collection basket at Mass or mailed to/
dropped at the Parish Office.
If you haven’t already, we ask you to consider setting up an automatic recurring donation for St. John Parish, either through your bank’s automated bill-payment feature or
through our WeShare, our online giving program. Online
giving provides the parish with a steady, predictable
cash-flow, and assures parishioners that they are
supporting the parish even when they are travelling,
attending Mass at another parish, or if they just forget
their envelopes. Please visit the website
www.stjohnwellesley.org for more information. If you have any questions about automated giving, please don’t hesitate to call the Parish Office at 781-235-0045.
