Because the people broke the old covenant, God promised a new covenant, not in the blood of oxen and other animals, but in the blood of the Son, Jesus Christ. This new covenant, foreseen from afar by Jere-miah and the prophets, was not to be engraved on stone, or written on paper, but carved on our hearts, so that we might know God intimately. Not by keeping many laws are we to be saved, but by the love of God, living and real in our hearts through the sacrifice of Christ. Our Eucharist is the pledge of that indwelling of Christ, and of our response of praise and thanksgiving to God for the mercy, love, and kindness shown to us in forgiving our sins and cleansing our hearts of every-thing evil. God issues this invitation to intimacy by of-fering us the chance to have our sufferings trans-formed into the perfect love of the Savior, who first loved us. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
Copyright © J. S. The Third and Final Scrutiny and Reception of the Lord’s Prayer will take place today, March 18. The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer proper to those who in baptism have received the spirit of adoption. Once our elect have been baptized at the Easter Vigil, they will take part in their first celebration of the Eucharist and will be able to join the rest of the faithful in saying the Lord’s Prayer. T
THE EASTER EGG HUNT IS COMING!
For our last service project of the year, all PreConfirmation and Confirmation students are participating in this annual parish event by supplying filled plastic Easter eggs. A flyer explaining the details was sent home last week to these students. A box will be placed in the parish center to accept these donations when they come rolling in between now and the due date of March 20th. We ask that the eggs be filled with wrapped hard candies, jelly beans, stickers and toys. (NO GUM OR CHOCOLATE PLEASE — THEY MELT!) We will also be recruiting volunteers to help at the event itself which will be on Saturday, March 31st here at St. Mark.
Our Lenten project: Operation Rice Bowl for the Catholic Relief Services – has begun. Students received these materials (a coin collection box and Lenten calendar) to bring home. When the box is full, the parent would convert it to a check (payable to St. Mark so we can forward one check to Catholic Relief Services). The due date for all money
collections would be the last days of class before Easter break: Tuesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 21.
CONFIRMATION STUDENTS & FAMILIES
CONGRATULATIONS to our 127 newly confirmed teens and adults. Our Confirmation Mass, celebrated Saturday morning by Archbishop Thomas Wenski was a beautiful ceremony and all present felt the power of the Holy Spirit sealing these precious souls with new grace and strength. We look forward to seeing all of our new Confirmandi take their place as practicing fully initiated Catholics in our parish. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the parish ministries who helped prepare for Friday’s celebration: the Saint Mark Youth Ministry Music Team and Mary Lou Corbiere, the Extraordinary Ministers and Altar Servers as well as the Hospitality Ministry. Our sincere gratitude extends to our Confirmation Catechists who so lovingly prepared our students throughout the year and brought them to a new level of oneness with the Lord. Lastly, we thank all the families and parishioners who supported us in prayer.

Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
My dear Adorers, During the months of Janu-ary & February 2018 (75) brothers and sisters of Jesus enrolled as Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament. This brings our enrollment total to 6244 Adorers. During these month, our Lord was visited by 3787 Adorers in the chap-
el for a total of 1477 hours. Will you be the next new Adorer of the Blessed Sacrament? Our Lord is very pleased with the many visit-ations before His Blessed Sacrament and He will not forget all the prayer intentions sent to Him during the many hours of medita-tion. Some of Jesus’ Adorers stop by the chapel for 5 minutes. They kneel before Him and experience a one on one personal rela-tionship. Each moment that you spend in His Eucharist Presence will increase His Divine life within you and deepen your personal re-lationship and friendship with Him. The enrollment book is in the Chapel. Just enter your name and take a numbered mem-bership card and become an Adorer of the Blessed Sacrament.

Stewardship is the grateful response of a Christian disciple who recognizes and receives God’s gifts
and shares these gifts in love of God and neighbor.
So much of what we want to do for God we try to do by ourselves. Our motives are right. Our heart is right. Our plans are made with prayer. The problem is that
we end up doing everything except the crucial thing: we are not willing to die. Our identity gets involved in pulling off our plans. Our hopes and our feel-
ings about Christian service get tangled up in our suc-cess in the plan. Jesus reminds us that there is no har-vest without death—the seed has to be planted and die before it can germinate and grow. Jesus submitted eve-rything, including his fears and his friends, to the will of God. It cost him his life. It won him the harvest. What have you not surrendered to God? Why?
† Gospel Reflection
