Mary bridges the Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament records God’s plan for man’s salvation in his preparations to make the world ready for the incarnation. Of all the tribes of the earth, He chose a particular people to whom He reveals himself. He nurtures and instructs them through His prophets in order for them to be able to recognize the Son of God when He comes. To accomplish this, He takes these people to Himself in a covenant bond, establishing worship based on sacrifice to prepare them to understand the ultimate sacrifice that the Son of God would offer for the salvation of man, for these people would be the conduit through which the message of the Son would be carried to the world.
When the time came, He chose a woman from a preordained family, the house of David. It was absolutely necessary that she be set apart in her purity and virtue so as not to make the Incarnation of the Son of God a sacrilege and so she is conceived without original sin and set apart in a holy state of purity and perpetual virginity.
Mary’s role in Salvation History is ever virgin and yet fruitful mother. Mary, a daughter of the Old Covenant, is not only the bearer of Christ in the Annunciation but also “labors” in prayer in the Upper Room with the other disciples for the birth of the Church at Pentecost, for the New Covenant believers will become her spiritual children.

First Reading — Your ancestors waited in faith and courage for God’s promised summons (Wisdom 18:6-9).

August 15th is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since it falls on a Monday this year, it is not a Day of Obligation. However, in order to promote devotion to our Blessed Mother and to honor her Feast Day, we will have 3 Masses on that day in our parish.
Masses for the Feast of the Assumption, Monday, August 15th are as follows:
8am, 10am, and 7pm.
All Masses will be in the Church on this day. Please take this opportunity to participate in one of these Masses out of devotion to our Blessed Mother.

IMPORTA&T &OTE: Dumpster The Dumpster in our church compound is constantly being used and abused by people from outside. To control this kind of illegal operations our Dumpster will be locked all the time. This notice will be in the Bulletin for 3-4 weeks. The City has brought to our attention that the dumpster kept at the present location is in violation of the plan submitted to them initially. So this will be placed back where it is planned to be in future.
IMPORTA�T �OTE: Paper Collection Container Our paper recycle container has not been making any money for the Parish unlike in the earlier days. It brought us only $50.50 (Fifty Dollars and Fifty cents) for the whole year. This container also will be soon removed from the property in the near future. You may not bring any more papers for recycling. This bin together with our own dumpster provide cover for those who want to dump sofas, beds, chairs, TVs and other such items illegally in our property and most of the time we end up taking them to the city dumpster. So I am trying to clean up the area there and install the fence in the east end of the property. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Catholic Relief Services presents a Parish Partnership Workshop for parishes involved in or wishing to become involved in parish partnerships, sister parishes or parish twinning relationships.
