Sixth Sunday of Easter St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church May 1, 2016

Dear Parishioners, I’ll ask you all to keep in your prayers the priest who was ordained from our parish, Father Joseph Cazenavette. Father Joseph and I were classmates at St. Margaret Mary from 1977-1981, and have been friends for nearly 40 years. He was or-dained after me, by a few years, in 2005, but St. Luke was his home parish at the time of his ordination. He has served for the last few years in Washington D.C. for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops in their Office for Family, Marriage and Youth. Recently, Father Joseph was diag-nosed with cancer in the liver and on his colon. He’s undergoing treatment at M.D. Anderson in Houston, and will be in Louisiana for his surgery as well. Many of you know both Father Joseph and his parents George and Cindy, who were active pa-rishioners here in our early years as a parish. Thank you for keeping them in your prayers and support! It’s graduation season, so please keep our young people in your thoughts and prayers as well. Whether they be from Northshore, Pope John Paul, Slidell, or a school in New Orleans, it is a time to give thanks to almighty God for the academic accomplishments our students have made, and to continue to ask God to help our young people demonstrate their faith on a daily basis. It’s always a pleasure to see our college students back at mass with us on Sundays, particularly if they come from a distance. Let’s lift them up in prayer too so that they know the happiness of being good disciples of Christ and committed Catholic men and women for years to come!

Yours in Christ,

Father Pat
