St. Michael the Archangel Garland, Texas June 19, 2011 As Catholics, we begin the Mass and almost every prayer with the sign of the Cross in which we invoke the Name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this same name we were born again in Baptism for the forgiveness of our sins and entry into the family of God. Yet, the Most Holy Trinity remains one of the most mysterious aspects of our Christian faith. God is One, there is no other. Yet, God is Three Persons in One God. It is as if in God’s unity, there was already a family of love. We could study the Trinity our whole lives, yet the mystery will remain. In eternity, we will see God for who He is, but there will always be more to know. -Father Joseph Sunday, The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Ex 34:4b-6, 8-9/ Dn 3:52, 53, 54, 55, 56/ 2 Cor 13:11-13/ Jn 3:16-18 Monday Gn 12:1-9/ Ps 33:12-13, 18-19, 20 & 22/ Mt 7:1-5 Tuesday, Memorial of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Gn 13:2, 5-18/ Ps 15:2-3a, 3bc-4ab, 5/ Mt 7:6, 12-14 Wednesday, Saint Thomas More Gn 15:1-12, 17-18/ Ps 105:1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8-9/ Mt 7:15-20 Thursday, Saint Joseph Cafasso Gn 16:1-12, 15-16 or 16:6b-12, 15-16/ Ps 106:1b-2, 3-4a, 4b-5/ Mt 7:21- 29 Friday, Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist Is 49:1-6/ Ps 139:1b-3, 13-14ab, 14c-15/ Acts 13:22-26/ Lk 1:57-66, 80 Saturday Gn 18:1-15/ Lk 1:46-47, 48-49, 50 & 53, 54-55/ Mt 8:5-17 Saturday 8:00 a.m. + Rodolfo by Edita Yuson 5:30 p.m. + Weldon Family by Laura & Cyndie Weldon Sunday 8:30 a.m. + Jphn Michael Gannou by Eleano M. For God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are but the same God merely in three different persons. In this life we can never fully understand the nature or the true unity of the Holy Trinity, but in Heaven we shall finally understand the beauty of the Trinity. The feast of the Blessed Trinity was first introduced in the 9th century and was only made part of the general calendar of the Church in the 14th century by Pope John XXII. Yet, the mystery of the Trinity goes back further to the time of the early Apostles. The Holy Trinity can be observed in the Gospel through the words of our Lord: "Go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:18). While the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are each God, the three persons each has a separate purpose in relation to the salvation of the World. However, all the Divine Persons of the Trinity act in perfect unity since God is one and has but one purpose. While all of this is certainly confusing, we can only pray that through the Holy Spirit's inspiration, we can hope to understand the Trinity. In time we can understand the Trinity and the nature of Our One God better, but only in Heaven will we truly experience the joy of serving the One God and seeing the mystery of the Holy Trinity face to face.

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, where we recall the most fundamental mystery of the Christian faith - that God is a Truine God. There

is but One Almighty God as Our Lord declared to Moses on Mount Sinai. Yet, in the New Testament we realize the true nature of Our God - He is three

persons. For God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are but the same God merely in three different persons. In this life we can never fully understand the nature or the true unity of the Holy Trinity, but in Heaven we shall finally understand the beauty of the Trinity. The feast of the Blessed

Trinity was first introduced in the 9th century and was only made part of the general calendar of the Church in the 14th century by Pope John XXII.

While the Father, Son,

and Holy Spirit are each God, the three persons each has a separate purpose in relation to the salvation of the World. However, all the Divine Persons of the Trinity act in perfect unity since God is one and has but one purpose.

While all of this is certainly confusing, we can only pray that through the Holy Spirit's inspiration, we can hope to understand the Trinity. In time we can understand the Trinity and the nature of Our One God better, but only in

Heaven will we truly experience the joy of serving the One God and seeing

the mystery of the Holy Trinity face to face.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday

Mother’s Day Out is in need of new or gently used Little Tikes playground sets. The ones currently in use are broken and a

hazardous to the kids. It would be great to have them during the summer for the kids to enjoy. Donations are being accepted. For more information, contact Mary Gaines at 972-279-6581, ext. 10. Remember, registration for the summer and fall sessions is still

going on. Space is limited, so register your child now!

VBS will be June 27-July 1 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. The theme this

year is Panda Mania (where God is wild about you (Psalm 139).

Price for VBS will be $25 for one and $35 for two or more.

Many adult and student volunteers will be needed. Students must

be at least 13 years of age to assist an adult volunteer. Registration

and volunteer forms may be found on the table by the Faith Forma-

tion Office.

**There is now a VBS bamboo giving tree and donation may be

placed by the St. Michael statue, located by the west entrance of

the church. The giving tree has many items that are needed to

make VBS successful; simply take a panda paper and bring back the

item listed. If you do not have time to shop but would like to make

a contribution, you may place a monetary donation in the can lo-

cated next to the giving tree. This is an important event for the kids

held every year, and it would not be possible without the help of

our parishioners. Thank you.**
