All Saints Sunday / November 6th

We will celebrate All Saints Day on Sunday, November 6. This is when we will pay special

recognition to our fellow members who have been called to their heavenly home over the past year.

We will be doing something a little different this year to recognize and remember other family and

friends who have been called home, whether it was this year or previous and whether they were members of St.

Peter’s or not. This year we will be honoring members of our Congregation that have found their way up to

heaven with our Lord.

Thank Offering Sunday – November 20th

Won’t Somebody please make the pizza!!!

Pastor Sara Yotter will be giving the message on Sunday, November 20.

Ladies, remember your Thank Offering Boxes for the service.

I don’t know about that program – but it sounds great. It also sounds like something that we, here, might benefit hearing more about on our MISSION SUNDAY. Each fall for decades, St Peter’s has had a Mission Sunday. Several years ago we were our own “program” – talking about our Mission Trips to the Gulf Coast helping Katrina victims. We’ve had other speakers during my last 5 years here – some international missionaries (ordained), and others lay-people.

Our Mission Sunday is not “set” for a particular Sunday, but is open for availability of an invited speaker. Would you be available on one of these Sundays in October (11 or 25) or November (8) ?

Our service is at 10:00am those days, and SS is at 9am – if you have something you could show & tell them specifically.

During Worship services on November 12th

& 13th

, we will

be honoring our Service People of all our branches of service to our

country and to our God.

If you have served or are currently serving our

country and are in the area, we would be privileged to honor

you during our service. We would like to have you

participate in a procession at the start of the service. Meet

at the back of the church. Feel free to wear your uniform or hat

that represents the branch of service you were a part of.

May God Bless You

God Bless you all.

Thanksgiving Service on Wednesday, November 23rd

at 7:30p.

Taking orders till October 30th.

The Pizzas will be made on Saturday, November 5th. They will be ready at noon for pickup. If you are able to pick up your pizzas on Saturday, it would help us out a lot. Otherwise, please do pick them up by Sunday, November 6th. Thank You, the Luther League

With the holiday season approaching, Reedsburg Area Helping Hands' mitten trees will be popping up all over the area. We at St Peter's responded generously last year by purchasing clothing, boots, shoes and toys. Your RAHH representatives, Carolyn Meyer and Jan Henke, are asking for your help again. Please check upcoming bulletins & the December Bugle Call for more information on availability of mittens and gift deadlines. Thank you in advance for your help. This is an excellent way to help local children in need.

KFC News

Congratulations to the 2nd grade students who will be receiving their “Good News” Bibles on October 30, 2011 during service. Those eligible this year are: Ephraim Albers, Loraun Delp, Halle Hahn, Carter Kreger & Hailey Stone

We have finished our rotation about David and how he was chosen by God to be king. The children had fun with the rotation and learned God does not judge us by our appearances, God looks at our hearts to see who we truly are. ******************

Our next rotation is the study of the “Boy King Josiah”. This rotation is about an eight year old boy who worked very hard to restore his people to true worship of God. The people had forgotten God, they had forgotten the Ten Commandments. Their temple was full of idols and even their

most important Jewish holiday the “Passover” had been forgotten. Because of Josiah many people turned back to God. King Josiah turned to the Lord with all his heart, his soul, and strength to get his people on the right track. Just as Josiah read the Bible in order to restore the truth, God today wants us to pray, read the Bible, go to church, and tell others about Jesus. ***************** Parish Ed met on October 9th to discuss the Christmas program. Due to difficulty in finding the right musical score for the program discussed, Vicky has suggested a new program called “Chronicles of Suburbia”. There are many parts and opportunities for our children to participate. Vicky and I have planned practice dates and make-up practice dates in case of bad weather. See these dates posted in the newsletter & bulletins.

The season of Advent begins Sunday November 27, 2011, and the children will be singing in church. We encourage all children to participate. Also the Parish Ed hopes to be having children’s sermons during the Advent season. There will be no lesson rotation during the Advent season. Sunday School time will be used to practice for our Christmas program. We are also looking for helpers for our Christmas practices and if you are interested feel free to just show up or if you have questions please contact myself or Vicky. ********************* Again thanks to our Shepherds and workshop leaders. Your time and participation is appreciated. Thanks Sue Wobschall KFC Superintendent

“Chronicles of Suburbia” a Christmas musical As mentioned Sue & Vicky have planned the dates for practice for the KFC Christmas program. We are going to start the practices earlier than last year. And because we are doing this, we realize that children will not make every practice. HOWEVER< It is very important to make as many as possible. We are trying to plan for the unexpected snow storm. These are the Saturday practices that we are planning:

November 19th

/ 9:00-11:00a / grades 1-8

November 26th

/ 9:00-11:00a / grades 1-8

December 3rd

/ 9:00-11:00a / grades 1-8 & 10:00-11:00a / Pre K & K

December 10th

/ 9:00-11:00a / everyone

December 17th

/ 9:00-11:00a / (if needed, it will be everyone)

December 21st

/ Dress rehearsal / 6:00-8:00p / everyone Many speaking & singing parts available, please let Vicky know if your child would like to do something extra. She will be asking many of them but, a little hint never hurts. Also, we would love to have special music by the children before the program on Christmas Eve. If your child loves to sing or dance or play a musical instrument, we would love to showcase their talents. Please contact either Sue Wobschall / 495-1399 or Vicky Baumgarten / 727-4141 or 393-0066

COUNCIL CORNER

Well hello again – I missed last month – the days are flying by. Unfortunately, pretty soon the

snowflakes will also be flying by – especially the way it feels outside right now. I know I am not ready to

face winter yet and I’m sure many of you aren’t either.

The doors are finally installed and have even been dedicated already. That was a long and

learning process for all, but thank you to everyone involved! They look wonderful!

The roof was scheduled to begin in mid-September, but that got delayed also. Hopefully they will

be starting around the beginning of November. If not, and if it doesn’t get done this fall, they will

maintain it free of charge until it is complete, but hopefully that will not be necessary.

Our copier has been installed and, from what I hear, is working great.

We are looking to do a new St. Peter’s Directory but are in need of a volunteer to lead the project.

It will be less tedious this time around as scheduling can be done on-line via the internet and they also

have some new technology that can assist with phone calls. We have also decided to use Lifetouch instead

of Olan Mills, so if you are interested in serving on this committee or even being the chair person, please

let me know / 393-1739.

By the time I write the next article, we will be planning for the Christmas season. That is hard to

believe! That means that the nominating committee will be contact people for various offices within the

church. If you are contacted, please give much consideration to serving or, if you are willing to serve

without being asked, please let me know so we can include you on the ballot.

Remember, any time you have questions or want to share your comments or concerns, feel free to

contact me or any other council member.

Have a safe and happy Halloween and a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

God’s blessings,

Bonnie Haag, President

Chili Supper is a success….

Thanks go to all who helped to make the Chili Supper and Bazaar a success. The efforts of all the workers throughout the day and again in the evening helped make it an enjoyable church

and community event. We appreciate all who made donations to help offset expenses. The net proceeds

will go equally to the Reedsburg Food Pantry, Lutheran World Relief for expenses of shipping quilts and to

our roof repair project. Please remember to pick up any jars or bar containers. Look for them in the Narthex

or kitchen. We served 410 people at this year’s Chili Supper, that includes dining room & carry outs. All

expenses have been paid. The freewill offering & bazaar netted $2223.82. Due to the generosity of many

people, total expenses were only $549.97. That leaves a profit of $1673.85. We have applied for matching

funds from the Sauk County Dairy Promoters Inc. Once we hear from them, there may be additional funds

available.

Volunteers needed

Habitat ReStore of Baraboo seeks part-time clerk to help variable hours Wednesdays-Saturdays. Entails

customer assistance, retail, leading volunteers, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Knowledge of building materials

preferred. Reliable transportation required. Habitat for Humanity of Sauk-Columbia Area is an Equal

Opportunity Employer.

Please email [email protected] with your resume by November 1st, or drop it off in person!
