¡¡¡Os lo aseguro: el que cree tiene vida eterna!!!.
Sigue este evangelio con la promesa de la Eucaristía en Cafarnaúm al día siguiente del milagro de la multiplicación de los panes y peces. Jesús ha pedido fe y les ha dicho que el Padre les quiere dar otro pan, que viene del cielo, que da vida y es Él mismo. Así nadie tendría ya hambre ni sed. El texto da ahora un pequeño salto que contiene una reafirmación de esta necesidad de fe. Fe que es una gracia del Padre, que envió a su Hijo para que quien crea en Él obtenga la vida eterna. Prosigue ahora el evangelio con el texto que ustedes han escuchado. A los “judíos” nota Juan le ha sonado mal eso de que “Yo soy el pan vivo, que he bajado del cielo” y lo condenan por lo bajo. Hago notar que Juan llama “judíos” a los fariseos, saduceos, escribas y doctores de la ley, que aparecen en los sinópticos como adversarios y críticos sistemáticos de todo lo que hace y dice Jesús. Tal vez sea porque Juan escribe hacia final de siglo, cuando Jerusalén y el templo han sido destruidos en el año 70 por los romanos, ha desaparecido el estado judío y muchos de sus habitantes han dejado Palestina. Los que quedan se unen muy estrechamente para conservar y defender su fe y costumbres con mucha intransigencia. Son los herederos ideológicos de los antiguos enemigos de Jesús, los más judíos entre los judíos. No admiten opiniones ni costumbres distintas, y menos contactos con los judíos convertidos a la fe cristiana. Estos son como renegados y no connacionales. El rechazo de los judíos “de verdad” al mensaje de Cristo es cerrado. De aquí que Juan llame “judíos” a los adversarios de Jesús durante su vida pública. Usa el término con este sentido hasta 60 veces.
“Cuando Jesús está presente, todo es bueno y no parece cosa difícil… Si Jesús habla una sola
palabra, gran consolación se siente… Estar sin Jesús es estar solo; estar con Jesús es dulce
paraíso… El que halla a Jesús, halla un buen tesoro. Y el que pierde a Jesús, pierde todo y esta
vacío por dentro y desarropado de Jesús.

Pedro, Luisa and their three children, Juan, Margarita and Jesus are a young family on the move. Each morning Pedro and Luisa busily prepare their children for the upcoming day ahead so that they can both get to work. The family stops at a local convenience store where quick breakfast burritos and sandwiches for lunch are bought for all of them. The two youngest, Margarita are dropped off at a neighborhood pool, where they will spend the day frolicking with their friends. Juan, who recently turned 16, has a job at a local fast food restaurant. He is dropped off a few hours before his shift begins, but he will find friends to hand out with who live nearby. Pedro turns the car over to his wife when he gets to his place of employment at a local roofing company, and Luisa takes the car to her job at a drycleaners. At the end of the day Luisa picks up her children, and finally her husband. They stop at a local fast food restaurant and purchase fried chicken, which they take to a local park. The children play on the swings and the old brother and the parents sit in conversation at the table. As the sun begins to set the tone becomes somber – and when darkness falls they huddle together at the table and pray. Finally, the family climbs into their car and drive to the parking lot of a 24-hour department store. The car in the parking lot will be their home for the night. This family, who has lived in Midland for many, many years, lost their apartment when their lease came up for renewal and their rent was increased by $250 per month. Their incomes could not absorb this dramatic increase and so they “moved” into their car. Their beds are their seats, and their clothes are carefully packed in the trunk. Families such as these are a much too familiar sight in Midland these days. Families who work hard….who are our neighbors…who attend church with us, and whose children play with our children. They remain shrouded in secrecy because, if discovered by Child Protective Services, they might lose custody of their children. If you know of anyone in this situation, please call us. We want to help. We were able to get this family out of their car and into decent housing thanks to your wonderful generosity. Thank you for your help. Thank you very much!
