Perspectives / Challenges
• Solar district heating is a proven technology
• In recent years increase in possible collector
temperatures, decrease in grid temperatures -> better
match
• High potential in combination with seasonal storages
• Customers in Graz are willing to purchase “solar district
heat” (idea of feed-in model)
• Variations in electricity production from wind power
and photovoltaic are challenge for effectiveness of
summer operation of CHP systems favourable for
solar thermal
