A long, long time ago.
!� +*('ر ! اآ�ن %$ ���# ر
In a village there lived a very famous man.
وآ�ن ا23 ه0ا ا/�!� .زر
The name of this man was Āzar.
ا��م�� وآ�ن .زر �
Āzar used to sell idols.
وآ�ن %$ ه80 ا/7��# ��6 آ��� ! ا
In this village there was a very big house.
! ا!وآ�ن %$ ه0ا ا/��6 أ��م، أ��م آ���ة
And in this house there were idols, very many idols!
وآ�ن ا/��س �>; ون /(80 ا��م
People used to prostrate to these idols.
��موآ�ن .زر �>; /(80 ا
And Āzar used to prostate to these idols.
وآ�ن .زر �<� ه80 ا��م
And he used to worship these idols.
Āzar's Son و/ .زر
وآ�ن .زر /@ و/ ر?� ! ا
Āzar had a very good son.
.وآ�ن ا23 ه0ا ا/'/ إ��اه�2
The name of this son was Ibrāhīm.
و آ�ن إ��اه�2 ��ى ا/��س
Ibrāhīm used to watch people.
وآ�ن إ��اه�2 ��ى ا/��س �>; ون /E��م
He saw them prostrating to idols.
و��ى ا/��س �<� ون ا��م
And he saw them worshipping idols.
��م G;�رةوآ�ن إ��اه�2 �<�ف أن ا
Ibrāhīm knew that idols were only stone.
H<I J2 وKLMI J ��م وآ�ن �<�ف أن ا
And he knew that idols could not speak or hear.
N�I Jو O�PI J ��م وآ�ن �<�ف أنQ ا
And he knew that idols could neither harm nor benefit anyone.
% I R% ��م وآ�ن ��ى أنQ ا/O0��ب �;SKT UK ا
He saw that flies were sitting on the idols, and they could not even defend themselves
from that.
I R% ��م وآ�ن ��ى ا/XNر X�آ� W<�م ا�H
And he saw that mice were eating the idols’ food and they could not prevent it.
@<NY $% �م: وآ�ن إ��اه2� 7�'ل�E/ ذا �>; ا/��س�H/
Ibrāhīm said to himself, “Why are people prostrating to idols?”
/�Hذا �>Xل ا/��س ا��م؟: X<� 2ل NY>@وآ�ن إ��اه�
And he asked himself, “Why do people ask idols for things?”
Ibrāhīm’s Advice 2إ��اه� #^�_Y
وآ�ن إ��اه�2 7�'ل /'ا/ 8
Ibrāhīm said to his father,
� ه80 ا��م ؟/H�ذ, �� أ�$>I ا
“Oh my father, why do you worship these idols?”
و �� أ�$ /�Hذا I>; /(80 ا��م؟
“And Oh my father, why do you prostrate to these idols?”
و�� أ�$ /H�ذا X<Iل ه80 ا��م؟
“And Oh my father, why do you ask these idols for things?”
H<I J2 وKLMI J ��م إن ه80 ا
“Indeed, these idols cannot speak or hear.”
N�I Jو �PI J ��م وإنQ ه80 ا
“And indeed these idols cannot harm or benefit anyone!”
)/ PI ء$? bي� ا/Qd<�م وا/*�اب ؟و
“Why are you giving them food and drink?”
وإنQ ه80 ا��م �� أ�$ XI Jآ� وI J*�ب
“Oh my father, indeed these idols cannot eat or drink!”
2)N� Jو ePf� وآ�ن .زر
Āzar became angry and did not understand.
�'ن وH)N� J'نPf� 7'+@ ، وآ�ن ا/��س/ g_�� 2وآ�ن إ��اه�
Ibrāhīm was advising his people, but the people became angry and did not understand.
2)N� 0h��Gا/��س، و e��م إذا ذه ا/��Qس��ل إ��اه�2 أ�Y أآ>� ا
Ibrāhīm said, “I will break the idols when the people go, and then they will understand.”
Ibrāhīm Breaks The Idols م�� إ��اه�L� 2>� ا
و!�ء �'م N% �T�ح ا/��س
A day of ‘Īd arrived and the people became happy.
وl�ج ا/��س /K<� وl�ج ا�NWل
And the people went out to celebrate the ‘Īd and the children went out too.
أnI J�ج +<�� ؟: وl�ج وا/ إ��اه2� و��ل m��اه�2
And Ibrāhīm's father went out and asked Ibrāhīm, “Aren’t you going out with us?”
��ل إ��اه�2 :2�73 �Yأ
Ibrāhīm replied, “I am sick!”
6�� وذهe ا/��Qس و7�$ إ��اه�2 %$ ا/
The people went away and Ibrāhīm remained at home.
E/ ل��أHKLMI J'ن ؟ أH<I J<'ن ؟: ��م و!�ء إ��اه2� إ/S ا��م ، و
Ibrāhīm came to the idols and said to them, “Can't you speak? Can't you hear?”
أXI JآK'ن؟ أI J*��'ن؟! ه0ا W<�م و?�اب
“This is food and drink. Won’t you eat? Won’t you drink?”
G �)Y;�رة od�I Jو6ML3 ا��م
But the idols kept quiet because they were stones which cannot speak.
���ن :��ل إ��اه�2 � �����
Ibrāhīm said, “What is wrong with you? Why don't you speak?” (37: 92)
67dY �+��م و و6ML3 ا
And the idols kept quiet and did not speak.
ePp 0h��G إ��اه2� وأ0l ا/XNس
At that Ibrāhīm became angry and grabbed the axe.
وq�ب إ��اه�2 ا��م ��/XNس وآ>� ا��م
He hit the idols with the axe and broke them.
ا/_2� اآ�� وoQKT ا/XNس %$ 7�T@وI�ك إ��اه�2
But he left the biggest idol and hung the axe around its neck.
Who Did This? ه0ا؟ �>% s+
ور! ا/��س ودKl'ا %$ 6�� ا��م
The people returned and entered the house of the idols.
�T م'� @Y وأراد ا/��Qس أن �>; وا /E��م
They wanted to prostrate to the idols, since it was a day of ‘Īd.
و/eQ;>I sL ا/��Qس وده*'ا
But the people were amazed and stunned.
�Ppس و�Q�/ا uQ3XIاو'
And they felt sad and angry.
" ! � ه�ا �������؟�: ����ا
They asked, “Who did this to our gods?” (21: 59)
�آ$ه� )��ل �& إ�$اه#�: ����ا( *�! �� +,
They said, “We heard a youngster called Ibrāhīm mentioning them.” (21: 60)
أأ0- ! .- ه�ا ������� )� إ�$اه#�: ����ا
They asked, “Are you the one who did this to our gods, Oh Ibrāhīm?” (21: 62)
��ل �� ! .& آ3#$ه� ه�ا !�,��2ه� إن آ��0ا )���ن
He replied, “No, rather the biggest one of them did it; so ask them if they can
speak.” (21: 63)
وآ�ن ا/��س �<�%'ن أن ا��م G;�رة
But the people knew that the idols were only stones.
od�I Jو H<I J رة�; وآ�Y'ا �<�%'ن أنQ ا/
And they knew that stones cannot hear or speak.
�;G �P�أ �� وآ�Y'ا �<�%'ن أنQ ا/_2� اآ
And they knew that the biggest idol was a stone too.
وأن ا/_2�Q اآ�� J 7� ر أن H�*$ و�M^�ك
And that it was not capable of walking or moving.
� J ��7 ر أن �L>� ا��موأنQ ا/_2� اآ
And that it was not capable of breaking the idols.
أ2K>I 6Y أنQ ا��م od�I J: %�7/'ا m��اه2�
So they told Ibrāhīm, “You know that the idols cannot speak.”
� ون ا��م>I u�L% 2ل إ��اه��� ؟N�I Jو O�PI J �)Yوإ
Ibrāhīm responded, “So how can you worship the idols while they cannot harm or benefit
anyone?”
؟<I Jو od�I J �)QY��م وإ وآ�X<I u/'ن ا
“And how can you ask the idols for things when they cannot speak or hear?”
أH)NI J'ن ?h��، أ%K7>I R'ن؟
“Don't you understand anything!? Don't you think!?”
و6L3 ا/��س وK;l'ا
So the people were silenced and became aShāmed.
A Cold Fire ر ��ردة�Y
ا/��bس و ��/'اHM!ا :NY ؟+�ذا�>
The people gathered together and asked, “What shall we do?”
#)/v��م وأه�ن ا إن إ��اه�2 آ>� ا
“Indeed, Ibrāhīm has broken the idols and insulted the gods.”
+� �7Tب إ��اه�2؟ +� !wاء إ��اه�2؟: وX3ل ا/��س
The people asked, “What should Ibrāhīm's punishment be? What should his requital be?”
8$��7 وا60$وا �4����: آ�ن ا/;'اب
The answer was, “Burn him, and help your gods.” (21: 68)
أو� وا �Yرا وأ/7'ا %�(� إ��اه�2: وه0Lا آ�ن
And that is what happened: they lit a fire and threw Ibrāhīm into it.
و/sL اY x_� إ��اه�2 و��ل /�Q�Kر
But Allah helped Ibrāhīm and said to the fire,
)� �0ر آ�0> �$دا و,:�� 9.* إ�$اه#�
“Oh fire, be cool and peaceful for Ibrāhīm.” (21: 69)
0Lإ��اه2�وه SKT �+R3ر ��دا و�Q�/6 اYا آ�ن، آ�
And that is what happened: the fire was cool and peaceful for him.
ورأى ا/��Qس أنQ ا/��Qر PI J� إ��اه�2
The people saw that the fire was not harming Ibrāhīm.
��اه�2 +>�ور، وأن إ��اه�2 2/�3ورأى ا/��Qس أنQ إ
And they saw that Ibrāhīm was happy and that he was safe and healthy.
ودهy ا/��س و I^��وا
They were amazed and bewildered.
Who Is My Lord? bرب s+
ه0ا ر�b$: 2 آ'آ��، %�7لوذات /K�# رأى إ��اه�
That night Ibrāhīm saw a star and he said, “This is my Lord.”
��ل إ��اه�2 ،eآ'L/ب ا�p �QH/و :J !$b��� U�/ ه0ا
But when the star disappeared he said, “No! This is not my Lord.”
ه0ا ر�$H :b� %�7لورأى إ��اه�2 ا/7
Ibrāhīm saw the moon and he said, “This is my Lord.”
��ل إ��اه2� �H7/ب ا�p �H/و :J !b$��� U�/ ه0ا
But when the moon disappeared he said, “No! This is not my Lord.”
> ه�ا أآ3$ه�ا ر�: وKW<6 ا/*UH، %�7ل إ��اه�2
The sun rose and he said, “This is my Lord; this is the greatest.” (6: 78)
��ل إ��اه�2 ��K/ا $% UHQ*/6� ا�p �H/و :J !$��� U�/ ه0ا
But when the sun set at night he said, “No! This is not my Lord.”
'H� J $G xتإن ا
“Indeed, Allah is Ever-Living and never dies.”
e�f� J ق�� @K/إن ا
“Indeed, Allah is Eternal and never disappears.”
�@ ?$ءKf� J |ي'� xإن ا
“Indeed, Allah is the Most Powerful and nothing overpowers Him.”
@�Kf� u�>q eآ'L/واg� ا/_
“The star is weak; it is overpowered by the morning.”
UHQ*/ا @�KfI u�>q �H7/وا
“And the moon is weak; it is overpowered by the sun.”
2�f/ا �)�Kf�و ��K/ا �)�Kf� #N�>q UHQ*/وا
“And the sun is weak; it is overpowered by the night and by the clouds.”
u�>q @Y eآ'L/ا $Y�_�� Jو
“The star cannot help me because it is weak.”
u�>q @Y �H7/ا $Y�_�� Jو
“And the moon cannot help me because it is weak.”
#N�>q �)QY UH*/ا $Y�_�I Jو
“And the sun cannot help me because it is weak.”
xا $Y�_��و
“But Allah helps me.”
ن اH� J |$G x'ت
“Because Allah is Ever-Living and never dies.”

“And Eternal and never disappears.”
�@ ?$ءKf� J |ي'� و
“And the Most Powerful and nothing overpowers Him.”
My Lord Is Allah xا $bر�
@Oر� x�ف إ��اه�2 أن اTو
Ibrāhīm recognised that Allah is his Lord.
ن اH� J $G x'ت
Because Allah is Ever-Living and never dies.
e�f� J ق�� xوأن ا
And Allah is Eternal and never disappears.
�@ ?$ءKf� J |ي'� xا Qوأن
And Allah is the Most Powerful and nothing overpowers Him.
eآ'L/ا Oرب x�ف إ��اه�2 أن اTو
Ibrāhīm recognised that Allah is the Lord of the star!
H7/ا Oرب xا Qوأن�
And that Allah is the Lord of the moon!
UH*/ا Oرب xا Qوأن
And that Allah is the Lord of the sun!
s�H/�>/ا Oرب xوأن ا
And that Allah is the Lord of the entire universe!
R�Klو �Q��Y @K>!إ��اه�2 و xوه ى ا
Allah guided Ibrāhīm and made him a Prophet and took him as a friend.
��دة ا��مT s+ 2)>�H�و @+'� 'T � إ��اه�2 أن xوأ+� ا
And Allah commanded Ibrāhīm to invite his people towards Allah and to forbid them
from worshiping idols.
Ibrāhīm’s Invitation 2ة إ��اه�'Tد
��دة ا��م T s+ 2)>�+و xا S/إ @+'� ود�T إ��اه�2
Ibrāhīm invited his people towards Allah and forbade them from worshiping idols.
� ون : إ��اه�2 /7'+@>I �+ ��ل
Ibrāhīm said to his people, “What are you worshiping?”
����ا 0 3? أ<����
They replied, “We are worshiping idols.” (26: 71)
:ه� )A+ �0�� إذ ?�9ن ��ل إ��اه2�
Ibrāhīm asked, “Can they hear you if you call on them?” (26: 72)
�0� B�( ونأو$C( أو �
“Can they benefit you or cause any harm?” (26: 73)
�0 4��ء�0 آ�B( D� .�ن?Fو �� ����ا
They replied, “No, but we found our forefathers doing this.” (26: 74)
� ه80 ا��م: ��ل إ��اه�2 Tأ J �YX%
Ibrāhīm said, “So I will not worship these idols.”
�� أT �Y و /(80 ا��م
“Rather, I am an enemy to these idols.”
s�H/�>/ا Qرب �Tأ �Yأ.
“I worship the Lord of the entire universe.”
"(?�( ��! <��.G ي� ا�
“The One who created me and who guides me.” (26: 78)
"#�A(> و� +ي ه� )� وا�
“The One who feeds me and gives me to drink.” (26: 79)
"#BI( ��! -J$� وإذا
“And when I become sick, then He cures me.” (26: 80)
"##K( L�M <��#+( ي� وا�
“The One who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life.” (26: 81)
وإن ا��م oKnI J وI J( ي
“Indeed, the idols cannot create and cannot guide.”
$7<I Jا و G2 أ>dI J �)QYوإ
“And indeed, they cannot feed anyone and cannot give him to drink.”
�ض أN*I J $)% G$و إذا +
“And if anyone becomes sick then they cannot cure him.”
$�^I Jا و G6 أ�HI J �)Yوإ
“And indeed, they cannot cause anyone to die and cannot bring him back to life.”
In Front Of The King ~KH/أ+�م ا
H/ا، و��/2 ! اآ�ن %$ ا ! ��� ��# +K~ آ
In the city, there was a very powerful king who was totally unjust.
~KHK/ وآ�ن ا/��س �>; ون
People used to prostrate to the king.
G ;<� Jو x ;<� 2إ��اه� Qأن ~KH/ا H3و.
The king heard that Ibrāhīm prostrates to Allah and does not prostrate to anyone else.
%ePf ا/KH~ وeKW إ��اه2�
So he became angry and called for Ibrāhīm.
xا Jا إ Gف أ�n� J 2و!�ء إ��اه2� ، وآ�ن إ��اه�
Ibrāhīm came and he never used to fear anyone, except Allah.
~KH/ل ا��+s ر�O~ �� إ��اه�2؟:
The king asked, “Who is your Lord, Oh Ibrāhīm?”
��ل إ��اه�2 :xر�$ ا
Ibrāhīm replied, “My Lord is Allah!”
~KH/ل ا��+s اx �� إ��اه�2 ؟:
The king asked, “Who is Allah, Oh Ibrāhīm?”
ا��ي )K#> و)+#-: ��ل إ��اه�2
Ibrāhīm replied, “The One who gives life and causes death.” (2: 258)
~KH/ل ا��أ�0 أ8#> وأ�#-:
The king said, “I give life and cause death.” (2: 258)
@KM� ود�T ا/KH~ ر!R و
The king called a man and killed him.
ود�T ر!�l. R وI�آ@
And he called another man and left him alive.
أ�Y أ�G$ وأ+�6، �6KM ر!R وI�آ6 ر!R: و��ل
And he said, “I give life and cause death; I killed a man and left a man alive.”
K� ~KH/ا ! ا، وآ0/~ آ� +*�كوآ�ن ا �
The king was very stupid, and so were all the polytheists.
@+'� 2)N�و ،~KH/2 ا)N� وأراد إ��اه�2 أن
And Ibrāhīm wanted the king and his people to understand.
~KHK/ 2�7ل إ��اه�% :LI��� < 2( Nا LنO!ب$Q+ا� "� ���+T �" ا�+I$ق !2ت
So he said to the king, “Indeed, Allah brings the sun from the East, so you bring it
from the West.” (2: 258)
6L3 و ~KH/ا �Q�^M%
So the king was bewildered and silenced.
.!'ا��وl;� ا/KH~، و+� و!
And he became embarrassed and could not find a response.
The Invitation To The Father /ة ا/'ا'Tد
وأراد إ��اه�2 أن � T' وا/ 8 أP��، %�7ل /@
Ibrāhīm also wanted to invite his father towards Allah, so he said to him,
-� U+A( � �� ?3 و� )63$)� أ ��
“Oh my Father, why do you worship that which cannot hear and cannot see?”
(19: 42)
�P� Jو N�� J �+ �>I 2/و
“And why do you worship that which cannot benefit and cannot cause harm?”
�>I J 6�ن�� أ�d�*/ا
“Oh my Father, don't worship Shaytān.” (19: 44)
sHGQ�/ا �Tأ6� ا ��
“Oh my Father, worship al-Rah mān (the Most Merciful).”
أ�Y أ�I�% ،~��qآ�$ وh�? �7I J�: وePp وا/ إ��اه�2، و��ل
Ibrāhīm's father became angry and said, “I will hit you, so leave me alone and don't say
anything.”
,:م D#.9 :وآ�ن إ��اه��H�KG 2، %�7ل /'ا/ 8
Ibrāhīm was gentle and forbearing, so he said to his father, “Peace be upon you.”
(19: 47)
وأدT' ر�$bأ�Y أذهs+ e ه��: و��ل /@
And he said to him, “I will go from here and supplicate to my Lord.”
eإ��اه�2 ! �ا، وأراد أن 0�ه uQ3XIوxا S/ا/��س إ 'T �و ،@Qر� � إ/l. K� S�، و�<
Ibrāhīm felt very sad and wanted to go to another place to worship his Lord and call
people towards Allah.
To Makkah L+ S/إ#
�'م إ��اه�2 وePp ا/KH~ وePp وا/ إ��اه�2 ePpو
Ibrāhīm's people became angry, the king became angry, and Ibrāhīm's father became
angry.
�%� إ/l. K� S� و�<� %�@ اx و� T' ا/��س إ/S اxوأراد إ��اه�2 أن �>
And Ibrāhīm wanted to travel to another land, to worship Allah there and call people
towards Allah.
وl�ج إ��اه�K� s+ 2 8 وودع وا/ 8
So Ibrāhīm migrated from his country and said goodbye to his father.
و�_ إ��اه�L+ 2# و+<@ زو!@ ه�!�
He headed towards Makkah, and with him was his wife Hājar.
�;? J و e*T �)�% U�/ #QL+ 6Yوآ�
Makkah at that time did not have any plants or trees.
L+ 6Y�وآ�)Y Jو �h� �)�% U�/ #
Nor did it have a well or a river.
�*� Jان و'�G �)�% U�/ #QL+ 6Yوآ�
And Makkah did not have any animals or people.
وو� إ��اه�2 إ/L+ S# وwYل %�(�
Ibrāhīm arrived at Makkah and stopped over there.
��T�H3ك إ��اه�2 زو!@ ه�!� وو/ 8 إ�I و.
And he left his wife Hājar and his son Ismā’īl.
��/6 /@ زو!@ ه�!� eأرد إ��اه�2 أن 0�ه �H/ و
When Ibrāhīm wanted to leave, his wife Hājar asked him,
�MIآ�$ ه��؟إ/S أ�s �� 3� ي؟ أ
“Where are you going, my master? Are you leaving me here?”
أ�MIآ�$ و/�U ه�� +�ء؟ وW J<�م
“Are you leaving me while there is no water here, nor any food?”
ه� أ+�ك اx �(0ا ؟
“Has Allah commanded you to do this?”
Y<2: ه�2��ل إ��ا
Ibrāhīm replied, “Yes!”
��/6 ه�!� :��>�P� J إذا
Hājar responded, “Then He will not forsake us.”
The Zamzam Well مw+ز �h�
وydT إQ�+ ��T�H3ة،
After a while, Ismā’īl became thirsty.
/sL أs� ا/�Hء ؟وأرادت أ+@ أن I>7�@ +�ء و
His mother wanted to give him water to drink; but where was the water?
،�h� �)�% U�/ #L+و
In Makkah there was no well.
�)Y �)�% U�/ #QL+و!
And in Makkah there was no river!
وآ�6Y ه�!� eKdI ا/�Hء
Hājar was searching for water.
H/ا S/إ �N_/ا s+ �ي;Iو u_/ا S/وة إ�H/ا s+�وة و
And she ran from S afā to Marwah and from Marwah to S afā.
. وY_� اx ه�!� وY_� إ�H)/ oKn% ��T�H3 +�ء
Allah helped Hājar and He helped Ismā’īl, so He created water for them.
.و�lج ا/�Hء +s ارض و?�ب إ��T�H3 و?��6 ه�!�
The water came forth from the earth and Ismā’īl drank and Hājar drank.
,و�7$ ا/�Hء %�Lن ��h ز+wم
And the water remained there; it became the Zamzam well.
w+ز $% xرك ا��%
Allah blessed the Zamzam water.
وه80 ه$ ا/��h ا/M$ �*�ب +�(� ا/��س %$ ا/^� و�IX'ن ��Hء ز+wم إ/K� S ه2
And this well is the same one from which people drink during the Hajj and from which
they take Zamzam water back to their countries.
ه� ?6�� +�ء ز+wم؟
Have you drunk Zamzam water?
Ibrāhīm's Dream 2رؤ�� إ��اه�
و�Tد إ��اه�2 إ/L+ S# �< + ة
Ibrāhīm returned to Makkah after a while.
��T�H3و/7$ ه�!�، و%�ح إ��اه�2 �'/ 8 إ ��T�H3و/7$ إ.
He met Ismā’īl and Hājar and he was happy to be with his son Ismā’īl.
ي وe>K� و�n�ج + وا/ 8وآ�ن إ��T�H3 و/ ا ��fا، �;�
Ismā’īl was a young boy; he ran and played and went out with his father.
e إ�T�H3� ! ا وآ�ن إ��اه�2 �
And Ibrāhīm used to love Ismā’īl a lot.
��T�H3إ g�0� @Y��م أH/رأى إ��اه�2 %$ ا #K�/ وذات
That night, Ibrāhīm saw in a dream that he was sacrificing Ismā’īl.
���Y 2وآ�ن إ��اه����د��، وآ�ن +��+@ +��+� �د
Ibrāhīm was a true Prophet and his dreams were true dreams.
وآ�ن إ��اه���Kl 2 اX% ،xراد أن �N<� +� أ+�8 اx %$ ا/��Hم
And Ibrāhīm was the friend of Allah, so he wanted to carry out what Allah had ordered
him to do in the dream.
:إ0> أرى !> ا�+��م أ0> أذ�Z0�! DK$ ��ذا $ى ه�2 و��ل إ��ا
Ibrāhīm said, “Indeed, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you. So look, what
do you think?” (37: 102)
s����_/ا s+ xإن ?�ء ا $Y ;M3 �+�I �+ �>%ل �� أ�6 ا��
He said, “O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills,
one of the patient ones.” (37: 102)
���L3 0lوأ @>+ ��T�H30 إ��اه�2 إlوأ
Ibrāhīm took Ismā’īl with him and he also took a knife.
��T�H3إ g�0� أراد أن ،S�+ 2إ��اه� �K� �H/و.
And when Ibrāhīm reached Mina, he intended to sacrifice Ismā’īl.
إSKT ��T�H3 ارض ;dqوا.
And Ismā’īl lied down on the ground.
��T�H37'م إKG SKT s�L</ا q'% g�0� وأراد إ��اه�2 أن.
And Ibrāhīm intended to sacrifice him; he placed the knife on Ismā’īl 's throat.
�sL/8�و+X� �+ @K�Kl �>N� أن ��ى ه� Qe � xا .
But Allah loved to see whether His friend would do what He commanded him to do.
e ا��@ أآ�� e اx أآ�� أو � . وه� �
And did he love Allah more, or his son.
�نg;Y إ��اه�2 %$ اJو M+
And Ibrāhīm succeeded in the test.
��T�H3إ g�0I Jه0ا و gل اذ����s+ y ا/;�# وL� ����! xر�3 اX%
So Allah sent Jibril with a ram from Paradise and said, “Sacrifice this and do not sacrifice
Ismā’īl.”
�+X% ،2إ��اه� �HT xا eGوأS^q ا/�T $% g�0/�� s�HK<H ا
And Allah loved Ibrāhīm 's deed, so He commanded the Muslims to sacrifice something
on ‘Id al-Adha.
2QK3و ��Kn/إ��اه�2 ا SKT xا SK
May Allah's peace and blessings be upon Ibrāhīm, the friend.
SQK 2وQK3و ��T�H3ا��@ إ SKT xا
And may Allah's peace and blessings upon his son Ismā’īl.
The Ka'bah #�>L/ا
وذهe إ��اه�2 و�Tد �< ذ/~،
Ibrāhīm went away, and then later returned.
x �M�� $�� وآ�6Y ا/��'ت آ���ةوأراد أن �
He wanted to build a house for Allah as there were lots of houses.
xون %�@ ا �>� x 6�� و+� آ�ن
But there wasn’t a house for Allah in which He was worshiped.
وا+ x �M�� $��/ 8وأراد إ��T�H3 أن �
And Ismā’īl wanted to build a house for Allah with his father.
;�رة +s ا/;��ل و�7Y إ��اه�2 وإ��T�H3 ا/
So Ibrāhīm and Ismā’īl carried stones from the mountains.
L/ا S��� ��T�H38 وآ�ن إ �� #�>L/ا $���# �� 8وآ�ن إ��اه�2 �>
And Ibrāhīm built the Ka’bah by hand, and Ismā’īl built the Ka’bah by hand.
'T �و xوآ�ن إ��اه�2 �0آ� ا
And Ibrāhīm used to remember Allah and supplicate to Him.
'T و� x0�آ� ا ��T�H3وآ�ن إ
And Ismā’īl used to remember Allah and supplicate to Him.
�3� ��� إDL0 أ0- ا�U#+LA ا� .#� ��� ر
“Our Lord! Accept from us (our deeds). Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the
All-Knowing.” (2: 127)
#�>L/و��رك %$ ا ��T�H3إ��اه2� وإ s+ xا �Q�7Iو
And Allah accepted from Ibrāhīm and Ismā’īl and blessed the Ka’bah.
�# %$ آ� Rة>L/ا S/إ @!'MY s^Y
We face the Ka’bah in every S alāh.
b� �# %$ أ��م ا/>L/ا S/ن إ'HK<H/و�>�%� ا
And Muslims travel to the Ka’bah during the days of Hajj.
'd�ه�و �T ن'K_�و #�>L/�� ن'%
And they make T awāf around the Ka’bah and perform S alāh near it.
��T�H3إ��اه�2 وإ s+ ��7Iو #�>L/ا $% x��رك ا
Allah blessed the Ka’bah and accepted from Ibrāhīm and Ismā’īl.
2� و2QK3SK اSKT x إ��اه
May Allah's peace and blessings be upon Ibrāhīm.
2QK3و ��T�H3إ SKT xا SbK
May Allah's peace and blessings be upon Ismā’īl.
2K3 و H^+ SKT xا SK و
And may Allah's peace and blessings be upon Muh ammad.
Bayt al-Maqdis 7 س��6 اH/
.وآ�ن ��mاه�2 زوج أl�ى، اH3(� �3رة
Ibrāhīm had another wife. Her name was Sārah.
.وآ�ن m��اه�2 و/ .s+ �l �3رة اH3@ إ3^�ق
And he had another son from her whose name was Is-h āq.
. sL إ3^�قوsL3 إ��اه�2 %$ ا/*�Qم، و3
Ibrāhīm and Is-h āq lived in al-Shām.
#QL+ $% �M�� 8'lأ�'8 وأ S�� �Hا/*�م ، آ $% x �M�� و��$ إ3^�ق
And Is-h āq built a house for Allah in al-Shām just as his father and brother had built a
house in Makkah.
8��� إ3^�ق %$ ا/*�Qم ه' 6�� ا/7H سوه0ا ا/H>; ا/0ي
This Masjid which Is-h āq built in al-Shām is Bayt al-Maqdis.
،@/'G xا/0ي ��رك ا S_� وه' ا/H>; ا
It is Masjid al-Aqs ā, whose surroundings Allah has blessed.
إ3^�ق آ�H ��رك %$ أوJد إ�T�H3�،و��رك اx %$ أوJد
Allah blessed the children of Is-h āq just as He blessed the children of Ismā’īl.
���ء و ا/KH'ك Yوآ�ن %�(2 أ
From them, there were Prophets and kings.
�Y 7'ب وآ�ن>� @H33^�ق و/ اm ��وآ�ن
Is-h āq had a son whose name was Ya’qūb, and he was a Prophet.
+�(s� u3'� 2 �<7'ب, وآ�ن �<7'ب /@ ا��� T*� و/ ا
Ya’qūb had twelve sons, one of them being Yūsuf bin Ya’qūb.
�# %$ ا/�7.ن�;T #_� @/ u3'و�
Yūsuf has an amazing story in the Qur’ān.
