Hankins (1998) defines:Curriculum evaluation as” A process or cluster

of processes that people perform in order togather data that will enable them to decidewhether to accept , change or eliminate – thecurriculum in general or an educationaltextbook in particular.

Major areas of assessments

Formative :formative assessment is objective type.

Summative :summative assessment is subjective

type.

Summative and formative assessments are

probably two of the most widely used in

education today.

Measurement:

Measurement refers to the set of procedures and the principles for how to use

the procedures in educational tests and assessments .some of the basic

principles of measurement in educational evaluations would be raw scores,

standard scores.

1. Aptitude: A test designed to determine a persons ability in a particular skill and

field knowledge.

2. Achievement test:

High achievement scores usually indicate a mastery of grade level material.

Low achievement scores can indicate the need for repeating the course

grade.
