This Sunday, July 1 Sermon Text: Galatians 1:11-12

"Not Man’s Gospel"

Bloomfield Baptist Family:

As we approach our nation’s celebration of Independence Day, it is important to remember what the timeless truth of God’s word teaches us about government, our conduct and the sovereignty of God. I want to encourage you to read Romans 13:1-7 this week and consider what the word of God teaches us.

Christians are called to submit to governing authorities. (v.1-2)

God has ordained government for our good. (v.3-4)

God has ordained civil authority to punish evil. (v.4)

We support government through paying our taxes. (v.6-7)

We support government through respecting and honoring those in authority. (v.6-7)

I believe that every Christian is called to support their government through prayer (1 Timothy 2:1-7). We need to pray daily for our leaders. We need to pray for their discernment, for their leadership and for their repentance. As we pray, we also need to remember that our government, our leaders and our nation are temporary. Governing officials will come and go. Nations will rise and fall. But the Kingdom of Christ and His church will stand and the gates of hell will not prevail against it! Reaching Bloomfield with You, Pastor Richard
