THE CATHECHISM IN EVERY HOME. The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a “purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven,” which is experienced by those “who die in God’s grace and friend-ship, but still imperfectly purified” (CCC 1030). It notes that “this final purification of the elect . . . is en-tirely different from the punishment of the damned” (CCC 1031). The purification is necessary because, as Scripture teaches, nothing unclean will enter the presence of God in heaven (Rev. 21:27) and, while we may die with our mortal sins forgiven, there can still be many impu-rities in us, specifically venial sins and the temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven.
Sunday, November 7, 2021 Dear parishioners and friends, Financial Report. In this bulletin, we release the annual financial repor t 2020-2021. In providing this report, we want to fully inform the community of our financial situation. I thank the Parish Financial Council for assisting me to controlling and overseeing the financial affairs of the parish (canon 537). As you can see in the report, though we are still under pan-demic, our financial condition looks good. In addition, we have exceeded our ADA goal, and the rebate has been used for parish maintenance and other improvement projects. We had quite a year and accomplished so much because of you, our parishioners, and your commit-ment to our efforts as a parish. Thank you for your generous support and prayers for our par-
ish. Together we can accomplish more. Sunday Contribution. In California and par ticular ly in Silicon Valley, everything is up. Why is the cost of living in California so high? Some of the key factors influencing the cost of living in California are housing costs, the price of groceries and utilities, the cost of gas, and the demand in very popular parts. In the midst of the increased cost of living, our parish expense is projected to be up. And yet, our weekly collection remains the same, under our goal. We rarely meet our weekly collection goal, which is $20,000 that will cover all parish expenses. I’m not sure if it makes sense to you, but if you spend more on utilities and groceries and meals, would you mind giving more to the collection basket? Hopefully many of you will respond to my call this time and we will see a difference in the next few Sunday collections. Online Giving. I also encourage you to make your weekly contr ibution via online giving. If you already give online, would you consider setting up recurring donations if you haven’t done so already. Online gifts – especially auto-mated recurring weekly or monthly contributions – provide more predictability and stability for our parish. They are also easier to record and more secure to process. You may find the link on our parish website at www.smgsj.org. Second Collections. I thank you for your continued suppor t toward our par ish improvement projects via second collections (for maintenance fund and for building fund). As you can see, several projects have been completed this year: Our Lady of Guadalupe Garden, Moses Garden, lighting and roses around the church, new fence around our parish campus, Divine Mercy Chapel. Beginning January 2022, we will begin the air conditioning project in church and at the same time renovate the church interior (lighting and ceiling). We will continue to beautify our parish campus with trees and flowers. We are thumb up for green initiative. Stewardship Prayer. Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous; teach me to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to seek reward, except that of knowing that I do your will. National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated November 7-13, 2021, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. NVAW began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for NVAW. In 1997, this celebration was moved to coincide with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which falls on January 13 in 2013. Beginning in 2014, NVAW was moved to the first full week of November.

STEWARDSHIP: A DISCIPLE’S RESPONSE “And he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.”
– Luke 17:16 Our Stewardship Giving is most appropriate to be presented at the Offertory of the Mass. The celebration of Christ’s sacrifice is a fitting context for our own sacrificial offering which is a grateful response to the unfathomable love God has shown for us.
Too often, we want to separate the issue of giving, particularly the giving of money, from those more “spiritual” aspects of our faith life. Yet, the commitment to Stewardship Giving is one of the most important expressions of what our faith means to us. Offering our gifts at Mass places them in an appropriate context of prayer and response to God.
In the offering, we can express our joy in having received and in being able to give. We are able to say, “Thanks be to God!” We can give back some portion of the tremendous gifts that have been given to us, the most important of which we celebrate at the Eucharist. There is no better time to fulfill our commitment to giving as stewards than in the atmosphere of prayer and thanksgiving.
We remember, too, that this commitment is one of personal as well as communal prayer and part of a lifelong process of turn-ing toward God. Our giving is woven into the struggles and joys we experience on our personal faith journey.
LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD: RESPUESTA DE LOS DISCÍPULOS

Nuestra Ofrenda es más apropiada para ser presentada en el Ofertorio de la Misa. La celebración del sacrificio de Cristo es un contexto apropiado para nuestra propia ofrenda de sacrificio, que es una respuesta agradecida al insondable amor que Dios nos ha mostrado.
Con demasiada frecuencia, queremos separar el tema de dar, particularmente el dar dinero, de aquellos aspectos más “espirituales” de nuestra vida de fe. Sin embargo, el compromiso de dar mayordomía es una de las expresiones más importantes de lo que significa nuestra fe para nosotros. Ofrecer nuestros dones en la Misa los coloca en un contexto apropiado de oración y respuesta a Dios.
En la ofrenda podemos expresar nuestra alegría de haber recibi-do y de poder dar. Podemos decir: "¡Gracias a Dios!" Podemos devolver una parte de los tremendos dones que se nos han dado, el más importante de los cuales celebramos en la Eucaristía. No hay mejor momento para cumplir con nuestro compromiso de dar como mayordomos que en un ambiente de oración y acción de gracias.
También recordamos que este compromiso es de oración perso-nal y comunitaria y parte de un proceso de por vida de volverse hacia Dios. Nuestro dar está entretejido en las luchas y alegrías que experimen-tamos en nuestro viaje de fe personal.

La Semana Nacional de Concienciación Vocacional, que se cele-bra del 7 al 13 de noviembre de 2021, es una celebración anual de la Iglesia Católica en los Estados Unidos de una semana dedi-cada a promover las vocaciones al sacerdocio, al diaconado y a la vida consagrada a través de la oración y la educación, y a re-novar nuestra oraciones y apoyo para quienes están consideran-do una de estas vocaciones particulares. La Semana Nacional de Concienciación Vocacional comenzó en 1976 cuando los obispos estadounidenses designaron el 28 do-mingo del año. En 1997, esta celebración se movió para coinci-dir con la Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, que cayó el 13 de enero de 2013. A partir de 2014, la celebración se trasladó a la primera semana de noviembre.

El objetivo de este reporte es informar a la comunidad de nuestra situación financiera. Agradezco al Consejo Financiero Parro-quial por ayudarme a controlar y supervisar los asuntos financieros de la parroquia (Canon 537). Como pueden ver en el reporte, aunque todavía estamos bajo la pandemia, nuestra situación fi-nanciera luce bien. Además, hemos superado nuestra meta de ADA y el reembolso se ha utilizado para el mantenimiento parroquial y otros proyectos de mejora. Tuvimos un gran año y logramos mucho gracias a ustedes, nuestros feligreses, por su cooperación a nuestros esfuerzos como parro-
quia. Muchas gracias por su generoso apoyo y oraciones. Juntos podemos lograr mucho más. Contribuciones Dominicales. En California y par ticularmente en el Silicon Valley, todo ha subido. ¿Por qué es tan alto el costo de vida en California? Bài đọc 1: 1V 17,10-16. Bà góa ngoại đạo ở Sarépta đã hy sinh nuôi ngôn sứ Êlia, nên được Chúa thưởng cho mẹ con bà sống no đủ suốt thời kỳ đói kém. Bài đọc 2: Dt 9,24-28. Chúa Giêsu hiến mạng sống một lần để chuộc tội muôn dân, và Người sẽ đến lần thứ hai cứu thoát những ai trông đợi Người. Bài Tin Mừng: Mc 12,38-44. Chúa Giêsu khiển trách các kinh sư giả hình, kiêu ngạo, tham lam; trái lại Người khen ngợi bà góa nghèo hy sinh tất cả tài sản vì lòng "mến Chúa yêu người", nêu gương cho mọi người.

Kính thưa Quý Cụ, Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em:
Báo Cáo Tài Chánh. Trong tờ thông tin này có đăng bản báo cáo tài chánh thường niên 2020-2021 của giáo xứ. Qua việc đăng tải này, giáo xứ muốn báo cáo đầy đủ cho cộng đoàn về tình trạng tài chánh.
Tôi xin cám ơn Ban Tài Chánh của giáo xứ đã phụ giúp tôi quản trị tài chánh của giáo xứ (giáo luật 537). Như anh chị em thấy trong bản báo cáo, tuy rằng chúng ta vẫn còn đang bị nhiều ảnh hưởng bởi nạn đại dịch, nhưng tình trạng tài chánh của giáo xứ tương đối ổn định. Còn chỉ tiêu ADA của giáo xứ trong năm này cũng vượt mức, và số tiền trên chỉ tiêu đã được giáo phận chuyển lại cho giáo xứ để dùng vào các công trình bảo trì và kiến thiết cơ sở. Giáo xứ có một năm tài chánh tốt và làm được nhiều việc là nhờ vào đóng góp của anh chị em. Xin cám ơn anh chị em đã ủng hộ và quảng đại trong việc đóng góp cho Nhà Chúa. Chung sức thì chúng ta sẽ còn làm được nhiều việc hơn nữa.
Tiền Giỏ Hằng Tuần. Ở tiểu bang California và nhất là vùng Thung Lũng Điện Tử này, vật giá đều lên cao. Khiến cho mức sống ở California đắt đỏ. Có nhiều lý do: đi chợ thấy món gì cũng lên giá, điện nước lên giá, xăng nhớt lên giá, vật tư xây dựng lên giá. Chính vì vậy mà chi tiêu của giáo xứ cũng bị ảnh hưởng. Chỉ có một thứ không tăng lên, đó là tiền giỏ hằng tuần. Hiếm có tuần nào giáo xứ đạt được mức chỉ tiêu là 20,000 dollars để lo vào các khoản chi cần thiết của giáo xứ. Tôi có suy nghĩ này không biết nghe có hợp lý không, đó là nếu anh chị em tiêu xài nhiều hơn cho điện nước, thức ăn, và xây dựng, thì anh chị em có thể nào cho nhiều thêm trong giỏ xin tiền nhà thờ không? Hy vọng rằng nhiều người trong anh chị em sẽ đáp lại lời kêu gọi lần này của tôi và chúng ta sẽ thấy có sự khác biệt trong những lần xin giỏ vài tuần tới.
Đóng Góp Trên Mạng. Tôi cũng khuyến khích anh chị em hãy đóng góp hằng tuần trên mạng thay vì đen tiền mặt hay check bỏ vào giỏ xin tiền. Còn nếu đã có thói quen đóng góp trên mạng thì xin anh chị em chọn phần đóng góp mỗi tuần. Để tuần nào giáo xứ cũng tự lấy ra, thay vì anh chị em phải vào trong đóng góp mỗi tuần. Đóng góp trên mạng, nhất là khi anh chị em cho mỗi tuần, sẽ giúp giáo xứ làm ngân sách dễ hơn và tình trạng tài chánh từ đó cũng sẽ ổn định hơn. Đóng góp trên mạng cũng giúp giáo xứ dễ làm sổ sách hơn và giảm bớt thời gian mỗi tuần phải đếm tiền mặt. Xin mời vào trang mạng của giáo xứ www.smgsj.org và bấm vào “online giving”.
Tiền Giỏ Lần Hai. Tôi xin cám ơn anh chị em đã và đang ủng hộ các công tr ình bảo tr ì và kiến thiết cơ sở giáo xứ qua những lần đóng góp trong giỏ xin tiền lần hai (cho quỹ bảo trì và quỹ xây dựng). Nhờ vậy mà trong năm này đã có nhiều công trình được hoàn thành. Chẳng hạn như Vườn Đức Mẹ Guadalupe, Vườn Ông Mai-sen, vườn hoa hồng và hệ thống chiếu sáng xung quanh nhà thờ, hàng rào sắt chung quanh khuôn viên giáo xứ, Nhà Chầu Thánh Thể. Bắt đầu tháng Giêng năm 2022, giáo xứ sẽ khởi công lắp đặt hệ thống điều hoà và cùng lúc sẽ trùng tu mái trần và hệ thống chiếu sáng trong nhà thờ. Chúng ta cũng sẽ tiếp tục trồng cây xanh và hoa bên trong và ngoài khuôn viên giáo xứ. Mong rằng môi trường xanh sẽ làm bộ mặt giáo xứ đẹp và trong lành hơn.
Kinh Cầu Nguyện. Lạy Chúa Giêsu, xin dạy mỗi người chúng con biết sống quảng đại. Biết phụng sự Chúa cách xứng đáng. Biết cho đi không màng phí tổn. Biết chiến đấu không sợ thương vong. Biết lao động không tìm nhàn nhã. Biết làm việc chẳng chờ thưởng công. Ngoại trừ phần thưởng duy nhất. Là con biết con làm theo thánh ý Chúa. Amen.

Bảo Trợ Hàng Ghế Trong Nhà Thờ - Trong đợt đại trùng tu nhà thờ vào đầu năm tới, giáo xứ sẽ thay các dãy ghế hai bên hông nhà thờ. Giáo xứ kêu gọi quý ân nhân bảo trợ các hàng ghế đó. Mỗi hàng ghế là $1,500. Giáo xứ xin chân thành cám ơn.
Nhà Chầu Thánh Thể. Thánh Thể là nguồn mạch và chóp đỉnh của đời sống kitô hữu. Nhà Chầu Thánh Thể mở cửa hằng ngày từ 9:30 a.m. đến 7:00 p.m. để cho mọi người đến chầu riêng tư. Thế nào là “chầu riêng tư”? Có nghĩa là đa số thời gian người đến Nhà Chầu sẽ chầu trong thinh lặng, cũng là để tôn trọng phút giây ở bên Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể của những người khác. Ngoại trừ giờ trưa là Lễ tiếng Tây Ban Nha và vài giờ kinh chung được Cha xứ cho phép (sẽ được niêm yiết ngay cửa).
