Tekakwitha Conference Board of Directors
2014-2015 Dear Friends,
Our Lenten Journey has already begun. A time given us to
reconnect in a more profound way our purpose as children
of our Creator God. We are called to reflect on our
personal spiritual growth especially our self-sacrifices,
self-discipline and how we are called to be at the service of
one another. Holy Mother Church gives us this opportunity to redirect
our course and be led back on our sacred path of life, so we will be
more mindful of becoming all that God has called us to be as faithful
followers of Christ. This will be the true meaning of Easter Joy!
Through prayer we can try to become the best ‘Good News’ for our
brothers and sisters.
Easter Joy continues with many of Saint Kateri friends eagerly
preparing with joy-filled hearts to travel to Alexandria, Louisiana for
the 76th Annual Tekakwitha Conference to celebrate as family by
deepening our faith and sharing in the unique culture of Louisiana as
“Saint Kateri Embraces the Wetlands”. Please keep updated on events
through the Cross and Feathers, the website: www.tekconf.org , our
Facebook page and news alerts.
Each morning and evening during the conference complimentary shuttle
service will be provided to and from the Listed Conference Hotels and
the Riverfront Conference Center for the scheduled activities of
each day. Each morning a Sunrise Service will take place on the
grounds of each of the listed hotels for our conference attendees. All
listed Conference Hotels provide a complimentary breakfast for your
nourishment and convenience.
A new meal experience for all will take place this July 22-26 in
Alexandria. Therefore, it is highly recommended that everyone
purchase the meal package as indicated on the 2015 Registration Form.
There are only three (3) small coffee and sandwich shops open until
noon or 3:00pm within walking distance of the Riverfront.
Pre-registration forms for one (1) or two (2) day participants are
available on-line. On-site Registration will be available from June 22-25
at the Riverfront.
If you are driving to Alexandria, there are No Parking Fees downtown
which includes the Parking Garage close to the Riverfront for those who
are providing their own transportation.
As we prepare spiritually to celebrate our faith this Easter and get
energized for the 76th Annual Tekakwitha Conference this summer and
the World Gathering of Families in September, we look forward to the
many family and local community celebrations this spring which will
bring new life and joy to all those suffering from this harsh winter. Yes,
there will be beautiful spring flowers again this year!
May we remember one another and pray for all our needs through the
intercession of our patroness and our own Saint Kateri Tekakwitha.

Saint Kateri Prayer
By: Harold Caldwell
O Saint Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks,
Your love for Jesus, so strong,
so steadfast, grant that
we may become like you.
Your short and painful life showed us
your strength and humility.
Grant that we may become forever
humble like you.
Like the bright and shining stars at night,
we pray that your light may forever shine
down upon us, giving light,
hope, peacefulness and serenity
in our darkest moments.
Fill our hearts, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
with your same love for Jesus
and grant us your strength and courage
to become one like you in Heaven.
Amen.

the Sioux Spiritual Center in Howes, South Dakota. The institute is sponsored by the National Tekakwitha Conference. It will
begin with supper on Monday, June 1, 2015, at 6:00 PM (Mountain Daylight Time) and end on Monday, June 8, at 11:00 AM, with
departures to the Rapid City airport after lunch.
There will be 31 hours of class work associated with the workshop. Speakers will cover topics that include missiology,

Space is limited. Enrollment will be closed after 22 people who apply have been accepted. The cost for the institute is $800.00.
This includes room (double occupancy), meals, and materials. Double occupancy means that you can expect to have a

The letter must provide information on the applicant’s current or future ministry with Native people. The deposit is non-refundable
after May 1.
Airport shuttle service will only be available at these times: pickup ONLY on Monday afternoon, June 1. Please schedule your
flight to arrive at Rapid City Regional Airport between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The return to the airport is ONLY on Monday,

Kateri Circle News 91st Kateri Circle
The 91st Kateri Circle has the privilege of having St. Kateri’s shrine on the grounds of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in
Adamsville, AL. A big thanks to Kateri Circle member, Anita Skocik for heading the committee that built the pathway and
had the inscription mounted on St. Kateri’s Statue. We hope to have the pathway and inscription blessed by Bishop Baker
in April.
We have many plans to go and evangelize to the surrounding communities during Lent with participating with Stations of
the Cross at the local Catholic Churches and the Catholic Schools.
Journey With The Bear Kateri Circle On December 29, 2014, Gail Rando was invited to make a presentation during the morning Mass.
Some members of Journey with the Bear Kateri Circle at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bear, DE
with Gail are (L to R) Bill Cramer, Jan Tuday, Father Roger DiBuo (Pastor), Sharon Ward (Circle
Coordinator), Dottie Lechmanick and Pat Jones. Earlier in December, Circle Members presented a
“Native American Nativity” written by Sharon Ward, to children who attended the Thursday evening
Religious Education Classes at SEAS. On January 24, “Spirit Wing” will present a concert of Native
American music.
