Josh M celebrates his birthday on Sunday and throughout the holidays Manaia, Kaleb and Ashleigh K will have their special days too! Best wishes from all of us here at school! Yay! A trip to Lake Rotoiti to finish our great term is planned for this Friday This big day out is a part of our school goal around “Identity”. Our Ngatimoti identity as environmentally aware students. In particular we will learn about how some plants and animals are being protected. Our NZ identity as knowledgeable participants about what make NZ unique. Learning more about NZ as a country, and our National Parks, is a part of our bigger goal. The plan for year 1 – 6 students is to travel in private cars. We will leave school as close to 9 a.m. as possible, as we are meeting a DOC representative at the lake, at 11 to begin our programme. Huge thanks to those who have been able to generously offer transport and time for this day. If you have offered but haven’t yet been contacted, we do need you! It is great to have such a positive response. Year 1-6 Students: PLEASE organise warm clothes and a raincoat and bring it in to school in a labelled plastic bag TOMORROW for teachers to check. Also please pack some spare clothes into a labelled plastic bag for after as there could be some rain on Friday!! Remember to pack a good energy filled lunch and a drink bottle of WATER for Friday. NGATIMOTI FESTIVAL 2013 – SUNDAY OCTOBER 27 10am – 4pm As Festival time draws nearer here are a few things to keep you busy over the holidays! Its always a great atmosphere on the day and a fantastic way to showcase our beautiful school and community and raise a serious amount of money for our children so lets get into a festive spirit and bring the valley alive with scarecrows and fun over the coming weeks! SCARECROWS You can make your scarecrow any shape and size think outside the box! The only thing we ask is that you clearly display the date and time of our festival and generally point the way in the right direction! The scarecrows will be judged (any volunteers!!??) and there are prizes available. Please make sure your scarecrow is up, perky and smiling by the beginning of next term. ROOM 5 help wanted! We are making and selling delicious fresh lemonade and will need lots of empty, clean, plastic 2l juice bottles. Also LEMONS and SUGAR. If there is a Room 5 parent who would be willing to contact supermarkets for donations of broken sugar packs please give us a call. Please bring in any of these items at the beginning of next term if you can. FLYERS We have 5000 flyers in the office to distribute before the big day! If you are able and willing to take some to Nelson or to the markets or even further afield please come and grab some or give Amanda a call. We would like to get these out in the 2 nd week of the holidays. INNER TUBES Room 2 & 3 are running the kidzone area and would like to recreate the bungee run. For this we will need to source some inner tubes. Any ideas anyone? FACEPAINTING Do you have a skill in this area? This is always hugely popular and we need HELP! PARENT ROSTER If you havent spoken with Amanda yet to offer your services for a stint on the day please do so. We especially need more people for Silent Auction, White Elephant, Parking wardens and BBQ servers and sizzlers. Please give us a call or email. We couldnt do it without you! PRE-LOVED ITEMS OF ALL SORTS!! Its the perfect time for a spring clean out over the next couple of weeks! You can begin to bring your second hand clothes and books into school next term. PRIZES We are NOT running the lucky dip this year; however, its not as much fun for the kidzone and the sandpit dig if they have nothing to win! If you are able to help source donations of lollies, small toys etc or even have some at home that are good quality please collect them and bring in at the beginning of next term. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! We know there are many of you out there working hard in preparation for this event and we do appreciate all your efforts.
