Adoration Chapel

In Chapter One of Luke's gospel he writes that Elizabeth gave birth to a son. When her

neighbors and friends assembled for the circumcision of the child, they intended to name him

after his father Zachariah. His mother Elizabeth intervened, saying, "No, he is to be called

John." Zachariah wrote on a tablet "His name is John". Later John baptized Jesus in the Jordan

River. At this time, the Heavens opened and Jesus received the Holy Spirit in the form of a

dove, then Jesus began baptizing with fire and the Holy Spirit and instituted Baptism as a

sacrament. Pray for our priests, for an increase of religious vocations and for our friends and

relatives. Remember our chapel is open 24/7 to be with Jesus in quiet prayer thanking Him for

everything. Consider signing up for an hour of Adoration. Allan Pierskalla 763.535.3729

oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14). In our Catholic tradition, the Sacrament of Anointing

frailty of old age. We will be offering the Sacrament at the end of the following Masses:

works toward protecting those rights. St. Alphonsus has offered them an office space in the

grey Ministry Building. If you need assistance of any kind regarding any immigration issues

you may be facing, please call 763.503.3343 to obtain the assistance you need. The call is

Fall Fest 2018 - September 28, 29 & 30 The dates are set and planning is well underway. We are working to finalize the

entertainment lineup, beginning to print yard signs and raffle tickets and building the

volunteer website. This weekend long celebration would not be possible without the help of

each and every parishioner. We need you to mark your calendars for September 28, 29 & 30.

Start inviting your friends. In the coming weeks we will have more information on volunteer

shifts throughout the weekend. There are lots of new and exciting things in store for this

year. This celebration of community and culture brings great food, entertainment, fellowship,

prayer, faith experiences all into one amazing weekend. We are still looking for a person or

group of people to come forward to help in planning kids activities for the weekend. We are

also looking for people to chair various areas for Fall Fest 2019 if you can't make the

commitment this year.

Thank you so much for the generous donations of egg cartons and toilet paper rolls. We now

have plenty. Now is also time to start thinking about donations for the silent auction. We will

soon be collecting empty baskets to use as we start putting items together. Check the bulletin

board in the C.Ss.R. Corridor or the parish website StAlsMN.org/FallFest for all of the

latest needs. If you have any questions or feedback please reach out at

[email protected].

Since 1866 the Redemptorists have spread devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the icon

and title of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. According to tradition, the ancient Byzantine icon of

Our Mother of Perpetual Help was stolen from a church in Crete, where many miracles had

occurred. The image remained in the private possession of a Roman merchant and his family

until 1499, when it was publicly displayed in the Church of St. Matthew in Rome between the

Basilicas of St. Mary Major and St. John Lateran. When St. Matthew’s was destroyed in 1789,

the icon was rescued and hung in an obscure monastery chapel until the Redemptorists

learned that the site of their new headquarters in Rome had once been the sire of St. Mat-

thew’s, the one-time home of a miraculous icon of Our Lady. A Redemptorist priest who as a

young man had frequented the monastery chapel that displayed the icon informed his broth-

ers where to find the image. The Redemptorists asked Pope Pius IX for permission to move

the icon to their new church, San Alfonso, which was built on the location of the icon’s earlier

home. The pope granted his permission and told the Redemptorists to “make her known

throughout the world.”

Wednesday June 27th is the feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. To celebrate this special

day in our Redemptorist Family we will be having a multi-cultural mass with a procession of

the icon at 6:30 PM. Please, bring any images of Our Mother of Perpetual Help that you would

like to have blessed. Afterwards we will have a Parish Pot Luck in the C.Ss.R. Hall. We ask

each family to bring a dish to share. Because we will celebrate Mary the Mother of all Cultures

we would encourage you to bring a cultural dish that celebrates your culture.

Yours in the Redeemer;

Rev. Donald Willard, C.Ss.R.

Queridos feligreses,
