Please consider helping at some or all of the games. You don’t have to be a K of C member, spouses, friends,

neighbors are all invited to participate. Please contact Jim Kurt at 517 256 8400 or check our website for details.

Construction Has Begun!

The date to begin construction on our new building addition has finally arrived. If you haven’t noticed the construction mobile trailer has been placed on our west parking lot and soon you will begin seeing equipment being moved in along with fencing being placed around the area for safety.

This means next weekend the west side entrance doors to the Gathering Space (Church) will be closed off for the next several months as they begin to tear down and then build up the connection between the Gathering Space and the Office/meeting rooms space.

Weekday Masses will be held in the Community Center over the next several weeks or months so that the activity and noise of this construction will be eliminated as much as possible.

Next Sunday’s Scriptures

A reflection on the readings for

Mass next Sunday, August

12

Jesus, the Bread of Life, teaches us how to come to the Father. The claims that Jesus makes about himself leave us with a choice: to receive him and be transformed, following him as he leads us to the Father, or to remain as we are. In First Kings, 19:4-8, we hear of Elijah's cry to the Lord when he prays for death. He is visited by an angel who tells him to eat and drink in order to be able to withstand his journey. In Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, 4:30–5:2, he reminds us to remove evil and instead take on compassion and mercy. In today's Gospel, John 6:41-51, Jesus explains that receiving him, the Bread of Life, is the way to the Father in heaven.

Please remember in prayer our parish members and their families that are serving in our armed forces.   Kerri, Ma , Richard, Bre , Chandra, Christopher, Stephen, Ma , Vann, Kara, Robert, Tyler, Kyle,

Michael, Joseph, Erin, Ma , Michael, Ryan, Tamara, and Dalton.

Dear God, we pray to give all of our soldiers the courage and strength to do the duty that is required of them.  May they always remember our apprecia on for the sacrifice they are making for us.  We are

thankful for the men and women who are willing to risk their lives to protect our freedom.  We ask you to go with each one of them and protect them wherever they go.  Amen

This has been a difficult decision that has taken months to come to a conclusion but I have decided that it is time for me to retire from full time parish ministry. I have many, many parishioners and

staff members to thank for the last 14 years in which I have been a part of the parish staff first as volunteer parish nurse and then gradually taking on additional roles until about 3 years ago when I became a full time Pastoral Associate. You have all shown me the face of Jesus in your lives and helped me to find God’s grace in all things. I will not be moving away and expect to be around as needed in the future. We will continue to follow the journey of life toward God together. I will enroll in a class to become a spiritual director and want to do some volunteer work as I hope to advance in wisdom and grace before God in the years ahead. Again I thank you for allowing me to share these years with you. Peace, Terry Humenik

HELP NEEDED Do you come to the 11am Mass on a regular or occasional basis? You may have noticed the ladies who are either in wheelchairs or use walkers who sit in the last pew on the right side of the center aisle. These ladies have mental and physical challenges and live in an adult foster care home north of the church. They have been coming here to church for over 8 years now and consider this their church community. There has been a group of parishioners who have provided assistance to their caregivers in getting them to church and back home again but the group has dwindled recently due to aging and illness. They have their own adapted van to transport them in their wheelchairs. We really need some additional help from other parishioners. You can choose the dates you are available to help them. It takes only about ½ hour extra time to make a huge difference in their lives. It takes only 1 person but couples and families are welcome to share in this corporal work of mercy. If you are interested please contact Terry Humenik ASAP. St. Jude Medical Equipment Loan Closet is in need of shower chairs, bath benches, wheelchairs to loan to those in need. If you have any of these items that you would like to donate please bring them to the parish office during normal business hours.
