Pastoral Care of the Sick: Notify the parish office when a member of your family from the parish is in the hospital or wishes to receive the Eucharist or the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at home.
Contact the parish office to register for a required baptismal preparation class, held on the first Sunday of each month at 3 PM at Saint Joseph’s in English. and Spanish.
Contact a priest at least one year before the anticipated date.

A Beautiful Gift Donating to altar flowers is a simple way to glorify God, honor a loved one, and beautify the altar. You can choose any weekend. Flowers may be donated in honor of a living person or in memory of someone who has died, in celebration of an anniversary or other milestone, or in thanksgiving for friends or family. Their names will appear in the bulletin on the Sunday you select. If you prefer, you can simply give the flowers to the Glory of God. You can request special colors. Seeing the altar adorned with flowers is truly a gift that touches many people! If you wish to have flower on the altar, please contact the church office.

During the weeks of instruction and preparation that are part of the RCIA process, the parish family supports their entry into the Church, prays for them, and helps them understand Catholic prayer, worship, beliefs and activities. Estimados Parroquianos,
No os ajustéis a este mundo. La exhortación del apóstol es verdaderamente actual. El mundo tiene criterios muy distintos a los criterios de Cristo. El mundo tiene un modo de pensar ajeno al amor, a la misericordia, a las bienaventuranzas. El mundo promueve el placer pasajero, la mentira, el aprovechamiento injusto del prójimo. El mundo proclama dichoso a quien triunfa independientemente de los medios que usa para ello. No es así, el modo de ser cristiano. El cristiano se transforma día a día por la renovación de su mente. Por una metanoia, es decir por un modo de pensar que va más allá de los simples criterios humanos, para adoptar los criterios sobrenaturales. En el fondo de este mundo sobrenatural está una verdad: la verdad del amor. La verdad del amor de Dios que nos ha amado hasta darnos a su Hijo unigénito y la verdad del hombre. El hombre es capaz de Dios, es capaz de conocer su amor, de descubrir su bondad y experimentar su cercanía. No nos ajustemos a los modos de ser del mundo vivamos en plenitud y valientemente nuestra cristiana condición, dando a los demás una razón para vivir.

Lecturas de la Semana XXI del tiempo ordinario
Jer 20,7-9 Rm 12, 1-2 Mt 16, 21-27 La vocación cristiana. La palabra "vocación" cualifica muy bien las relaciones que Dios entabla con cada ser humano en el amor. En realidad "cada vida es una vocación" como decía Pablo VI (Pablo VI, carta Enc. Populorum progressio, 15) porque es una llamada a desempeñar una tarea especial en la construcción del mundo y en la obra de la salvación. Al hablar de vocación cristiana, sin embargo, nos referimos a una llamada específica. Se trata de una llamada a "vivir en Cristo" y hacer que "Cristo sea todo en todos". La vida cristiana es vocación en el sentido de que Dios inicia con su creatura un diálogo de amor. La hace sentirse amada. Amada eternamente por un amor infinito, y, a la vez, la invita a tomar parte en ese mismo amor que se derrama en los corazones. Vocación cristiana es, pues, la invitación a pasar del terreno inicial del cumplimiento de los mandamientos, al terreno más elevado de la donación, a imitación de Cristo. Vocación-donación-amor que se ofrece, pueden ser tres sinónimos de una misma realidad profunda. Quien no entiende su vida como vocación y misión se condena a vivir en el tedio, en el pasatiempo banal, en el placer efímero.

SIGUIENDO A CRISTO: Si alguna vez te jugaron una broma desagradable y algo risible a la vez, entonces comprenderás
cómo Jeremías se siente hoy cuando le dice a Dios "me sedujiste, Señor, y me dejé seducir". Ya lo imaginamos sacudiendo la cabeza con una sonrisa desconsolada, pero con el enojo latente en su voz. De igual manera, Pedro piensa que Jesús lo está "embaucando" cuando éste comienza a explicar que ser el Mesías significa sufrir y morir, y ser seguidor del Mesías significa cargar la cruz y hacer lo mismo. Jeremías trata de negar la voluntad de Dios para él al tratar de permanecer callado; Pedro -quien ha sido hecho cimiento de la Iglesia- totalmente niega la enseñanza de Jesús, por lo que hoy es llamado "Satanás". Por suerte para nosotros, Jeremías se llega a dar cuenta de que tener la Palabra de Dios en el corazón significa que será inútil tratar de permanecer en silencio, aunque ello signifique el desprecio y la burla de los que te rodean. Felizmente Pedro al final volvió a la fe que profesó en el Evangelio de la semana pasada, y llegó a comprender nuestra necesidad, como bautizados seguidores de Cristo, de seguir su camino, aunque signifique seguirlo hasta la muerte. La misión del centinela. El centinela en los tiempos antiguos poseía una función decisiva en los combates entre los pueblos. Su misión era la de observar los litorales y campos de batalla, distinguir los acechos y las formaciones enemigas, y dar la voz de alerta para que el ejército se preparara para la batalla. Si el centinela dormía, la vida del pueblo corría un grave riesgo. En el pasaje que nos ofrece Ezequías, se compara al centinela con el profeta. El profeta es un centinela con características especiales. El profeta debe advertir al "impío" de su mala conducta, debe informarle del mal que se le viene encima, si no se convierte, si no despierta del sueño que lo entretiene en el mal. Lo interesante es que la responsabilidad del profeta no termina aquí, él debe seguir más adelante. Al centinela le basta dar la alarma; si le escuchan o no, ya no es responsabilidad suya. No así es el caso del profeta: él debe advertir del mal que se viene encima, y debe hacer lo indecible por convencer a sus oyentes, porque lo que él anuncia no lo han visto sus ojos, ni escuchado sus oídos, es Dios mismo que se lo ha revelado. Él habla en nombre de Dios. Él expresa el deseo de Dios de salvar a los hombres y de que no se pierda ninguno (Ez 18,32). Él participa del amor divino que no se deja vencer por el pecado del hombre. El profeta-centinela asume una responsabilidad imponente: deberá responder ante Dios de la muerte de aquellos a los que ha sido enviado. El no puede dejar de aspirar a ser escuchado. El pastor de almas es, pues, el centinela que vela sobre el rebaño, aquel que se mantiene en vigilia durante la noche para que ninguno perezca.
